Adorecream

This is really hard to choose. I love his screams and yet all his miasma of backing voices. It would have to be Adore, there is a reason why I love that song so much and it is my favourite, besides the lyrics and the tale he tells, there is a part "Nothing could compare 2 ur face......"and there is like a Niagara falls of vocal dubs and at least 5 layers of cascading Prince falsettos falling all over you. It is ethereal and orgasmic for me. The song is genius, but the voices just prove he was one of the most amazing singers ever.

.

Still would stand all time is right up there too, with his voice and the gravitas in it, also Damn U and of course The Beautiful Ones and Electric Intercourse, its all about the frenzied screams of lust and his deep growly voice on the Beautiful Ones.

.

For recent music, you can not go past his vocals on Future Soul Song, but at the end of the day, its all about ADORE in this department.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

First song that comes to mind is Damn U - I remember a review described it as 'vocal gymnastics'

.

Revelation would also be high up the list for me.

.

And of course The Beautiful Ones - never tire of those impassioned screams

Nightcrawler

Unsusual Choice maybe, but I always had a thing for him singing

The Amo Corazon

I could listen to this for hours on repeat.

And then: Slow Love, I Love U, But I DonΒ΄t Trust U Anymore, Insatiable, Joy In Repetition, Scandalous, The One, Thieves In The Temple (Remix)

See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

To all the classics that were already mentioned I would like to add Future Baby Mama. Prince received a Grammy for best vocal performance for that song and he deserved it. His vocals on that song are truly amazing.

Revelation from HitnRun 2 is also fantastic.

I am glad DAMN U is getting so much love, its my 3rd or 4th vocal favourite and is easily the best song by miles on Lovesymbol. This is the first thread I have seen it get its due, usually with that album, everyone is praising Sexy MF, the morning papers, 7 and 3 chains of gold. All are good songs, but Damn U is inception level shit.

.

It is ruined on the album at the end with "That was for all the lovers and this is for the whores" and then Arrogance and the Flow follow, easily two of his very worst ever songs made.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

im always shocked and amazed when i read here that "Arrogance" and "The Flow", are weak songs...and i read that alot on this site...i love both them joints...alot...i never ever liked Tony M, but on "The Flow", he somehow summoned up the best bars of his career...and Prince and the NPG, channeled vintage Earth, Wind & Fire jazz/funk on "Arrogance", crackling rhythm guitar and urgent horns that Maurice White and Al McKay would be proud of...and Prince in his in his unforgiving prime, talking hella shit on both records...whats not to like?

I agree with many of the selections so far, but would like to add Avalanche. His vocal slays me on that one.

He has so many songs with incridible vocals it's hard to pick the best, but The Most Beautiful Girl In the World should at least get mentioned in this thread.

You're not. I've always liked him since the Gett Off video and I thought I was the only one! I even messaged him on Facebook recently and got a reply off the OG πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

You heard his recent interview on the Peach & Black podcast? He comes across really well, cool guy.

Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.
