Is it just me or does he dance as good or even better than the best in the business in this video? You don't fuck around with those thigh shakes eek. I've never seen a male dancer perform that move in this fashion before.

Been a while since I've seen this, but hindsight being 20/20, I can't help but wonder who TITT lol was written about.

Lots of stuff in the second half like the two dancers (I'm presuming Robin Power is one, don't know who's rocking the motorcyle helmet eek ) stealing Lovesexy outfits and modeling them for an unimpressed Prince, to him tagging 'Aura' (a character in Graffiti Bridge played by Ingrid Chavez) on the wall, then humping said wall, and lastly the superfast scroll at the end which reads:

LOVE

(a thief’s definition)

A. 2 swear allegiance then back out like a punk when another offer comes along

B. 2 speak of loyalty only until some bucks are placed on the table then sucking up to the highest bidder

C. 2 criticize 4the sake of personal gain or 4 the actual enjoyment of it

D. 2 make love like an animal while swearing up & down your partner is the best all the while thinking of your next conquest

E. 2 speak of a new world without first knowing how 2 fix your own

hmmm Wasn't this about the time of Prince and Sheila's first falling out?

Anyway, thanks for posting!

I have always LOVED this video - Prince at his superlative best in terms of moves and look...

.

But yes - intriguing messages at the end. Anyone who says Prince was 'secretive' really needed to take him seriously when he said his lyrics / videos made him an 'open book'.

.

Maybe Robyn Power could tell us who these words were implicating? At first I was wondering if it mght be Carmen Electra, given that she is the one who was said to have had it away with one of P's dancers (Tony M, I think)? However, I now think TITT might be too early for it to be Carmen...Anyhooo - Robyn does post on here from time to time so it could be something to ask her?

There is also a very different remixed version done by Junior Vasquez entitled, "Thieves in the House".

Which ripped off another track.

All JV's remixes sounded the same anyway. Crap!

Probably directed at Kim Bassinger who was supposed to be in Grafiti Bridge.

Right? Holy shitballs, could he dance. I have no idea why anyone ever thought Michael Jackson was the better dancer. No way could MJ have come close to these moves and from the carnal place P brought them. Lord.

Also too: yes, those thighs.

I'm glad we have these to watch. I'll be 80, watching them and thinking "who is that lovely young man? He seems nice." LOL

MJ was more "traditional" & "polished" imo - he had the ensemble thing & really showcased the dancing, where P was music/musicianship first, & oh yea, I can cut yo ass up on the dance floor too lol

LOL @ your 80y.o. reflections lol

I think it's bikini drawz & thick tights or leg warmers. Too bad there's no real clear shot of it, I'd love to know for sure batting eyes sometimes it looks like the tights/leg warmers are being held up by some kind of garter type deal, but it all goes by too quickly.

NICE w/ the ONE take headbang

He clearly had some chemistry with Robin Power. His face seems to light up when they're dancing together in that "foot on the rock bit." It's cute. smile

This video actually has some cuts that are not in the long version that was out in 1990. I compared them side by side. Definately an alternate version. The girl with the motorcycle helmet is Jill Jones.

Wow. Twerking, a bit of early popping, heels dance (yep, they now do classes on it) he was doing it all, years before it happened.

Love his dancing here, and that ass in those suspenders. Oh my!

The garment (for want of a better word, lol) worn on P's lower half seems to be a trouser / pant, with very deep 'windows' cut into the hip / buttock region. I say this because, if you look closely (as I have biggrin ) there is a waistband and portion of fabric covering at least part of his bottom, all made of the same continuous piece of material as the trouser legs; further, all edges going up the crotch to the waistband, and around the 'windows', are finished with sequin-encrusted bias binding. Very tasty!

.

All of this goes to prove one thing, of course - there is a REAL need for a travelling exhibition of ALL of P's clothes and accessories. Then we could examine his accoutrements in the detail they deserve!
