Today, I went to an fye store (an entertainment store) to buy 4Ever. I was going to buy a copy for me and a copy for my sister. Before I arrived at the mall where the fye store is, I texted my sister and asked if she had any Prince CDs. She replies "No." There weren't any copies of 4Ever at fye, so instead, I bought the Batman Soundtrack for myself and Purple Rain for my sister. Purple Rain will be her Christmas present.

Smoking weed is nothing. There are people whose entire personalities and psyches are dictated by the Prince merchandise they own.

If there's anybody that would stand to benefit from quitting something, it's obscessive types like that.

I have Prince's and his symbol in the rear window of my car. I bought some lavender body mist and hand sanitizer. I've been inspired to read the bible more than just church on Sunday. I have been listening to his music every time I drive my 6 and 7 year old grandchildren around so they will be able to share his music with their peers when they are older.

I've been questioning my life for a couple of years. Yes, I get to write for a living, and since it's corporate the pay is decent. Creative? <cough> Not so much. I was already teetering on the edge of batshit crazy from career boredom when Prince passed (damn, it still hurts to say that). So I did was any self-respecting artistic type would do: cried my eyes out for a couple months, dusted myself off, and decided to do better. For myself and to honor Prince's memory, not only where they intersect but also outside the envelope if I can. Won't know until I try, eh? cool

I promised myself and P to rededicate myself to the arts. I volunteer at a local theater now and support my son in his theater efforts at school. I'm buying a ton of music (yeah--I BUY it) and am going out of my way to see more concerts at both large and small venues. Real musicians playing real music.

In the spring, I plan to take a creative writing course to get the juices flowing again. Or maybe--and this one is out there, but we'll see how it goes--I might start playing music again. It's been years since I picked up a guitar, but what the heck. Or maybe learn to play the drums. Why not, right?

That sounds exactly like typical marijuana affects, yup. Sloth, procrastination and just basically feeling bad about oneself. Been there. It got to the point where I didn't even know if something at the office had happened that morning or the day before.
My mind did clear up though.
I had to change all my friends and a lot more else.
Best wishes, it'll be really good.

Hey FP! How 'ya bin?

I'm around pretty much every day, tho' I don't post a lot. After writing all day, social media feels an awful lot like work. But I try. razz

No, I haven't been to a writers conference before: great suggestion!! I'm driving distance to both nyc and Boston, so I bet I can find something really good. I've been a tech writer, a reporter, a PR staff writer, and a medical writer. I know I can be creative, but it's been a good long while for sure. I'm too used to structure. Do you write? Creativity is an interesting beast. You can't not give it space. When I didn't write, there was an hole in my chest where writing was supposed to be. On that level I understand Prince very well--you can't breathe until you let it out. I finally followed my heart at 33 years old. Best thing I ever did.

I really, really, want to try playing the drums. My dad is a musician--bass, guitar, piano--and we used to jam often in my teens and 20s. When I wasn't on guitar, I was on percussion. Of course my husband would be certain I'd completely lost my mind this time. But I'm already picturing a drum set wedged in between the motorcycles. nutty Hmmm. Maybe a few "introduction" classes, eh? cool

I saw EW&F too! They played with Chicago at Mohegan sun. Buying tickets for that concert was the first Prince-honoring thing I did. I always wanted to see those two groups together; I don't know why I waited so long.

I'm still trying to catch up w Maceo Parker. I'm always away when he's playing locally, but I *will* get there. I've gotten over having anyone to go with. If I do, that cool. If not, I go alone. It's all good.

Anything large or small. Me? Simple: I've been making my home space cozy by lighting lots of candles. Now I would just like some lavender ones.

Prince , the way he lived his life and the Person he became before he left us,

a lot of which I have only learned since, has changed me Forever.

* I reach out to people who are sufferring or who are having a Difficult time...I have developed a sense for it..

* I suggest certain songs to People who are on a mission of sorts...Recently a Friend who speaks up for Aboriginal rihts here in Australia was getting a lot of HATE..I sent her the Lyrics and the Link to "the LOVE we make" she responded with..OMG this is Genius...Thats Prince ....WOW"

*Another friend who is a spiritualist always seems to get bombarded with opposing thoughts from people trying to confine his beliefs into one stream or another..I sent him the Intro to ONE SONG and the Link..He responded with "ONE TRUTH"Prince was the REAL HEAL HUH ? "

I try to LIVE in the Moment more

* I take better care of Myself

* I take care not to use Harsh Words and am practising trying throw SHADE in a clever way :)coz sometimes ya know..ya just gotta

*I am more patient with people I mentor

*I am grateful for every day

*I am more discerning about the company I keep

* I tint my hair Purple ...just becasue...well its Lavender actually...and since Ive been doing this I get so much LOVE from random people...and I always say..Its in Honour of Prince

* I have been playing Xpectation and N.E.W.S and that Cover of Summertime,as background music at work, and take great delight when peoples mouths drop when they ask WHos playing and Tell I em...Thats My Princey Babaaay..

I saw EW&F at the Borgata in Atlantic City. I didn't really want to travel to see the concert, but in the back of my mind I was like, "Think about Prince. You never got to see Prince." So Prince's recent death did motivate me to travel for a concert for which I otherwise may not have traveled because Prince's death reminded me that tomorrow isn't promised for anyone. His death encouraged me to pay more attention to music because I'm such a sports fanatic (football especially) and so I've been more attentive to attending sporting events and sporting news, e.g. seeing my Seahawks when they played here in Philly and seeing Lebron when he played here in Philly a couple of years ago when he still played for the Heat. I'm so glad that I did travel to AC because the EW&F concert is the BEST concert I have ever attended!!! And I've seen Stevie Wonder and Elton John, both of whom were fantastic!

I've been trying to break out of my comfort zone a bit. My biggest regret was passing up the chance to see him for the last time, so I vowed that I'd never let myself feel that way again (if I can help it). Even it makes me uncomfortable or I'm unsure about it, if I know it's something I want to do or try, I'm going to do it. I don't want to regret passing up an experience I wish I had or a trip I wish I took, etc.

So cool and inspiring to hear all these daily signs of love for Prince, others, and yourselves.

I've been writing songs that are either to or about Prince. I'm working towards an album's worth.

Learning chords and keys (yeah kepurplehunter!) so I can write the music to my songs.

Learning P's songs. I'm working on Power Fantastic.

Got a used drum kit and figuring out how to learn that.

Requested to be put into a band through a local band match making organization.

(None of this has anything to do with my day job.)

And purple is much more part of my life. Some solar-powered purple LED lights are on the way for holiday decoration.

Got some purple tapers ("eggplant" Big Dipper) at Whole Foods for my candleabra.

Listen to a lot more music - his, but also his proteges, influences, and it goes from there.

Try to see what's going on in the world in a way that leads to 1Ness. Joined Van's Love Army thing.

Keep in touch with my new friend from Minneapolis whom I met at the Tribute.

Like ya'll - Step out a little more. Give a little more. Throw shade in a classy way. Bring more Style into my life.

And chat with ya'll here!
