Emancipation on Tidal? Can't find it!

I subscribed to Tidal after Prince passed because some of the albums I have by Prince were only on cassette or vinyl. Emancipation I have on cd but I never listen to CDs anymore! I need it on my phone. Where is Emancipation? Is it there and I'm just not finding it because he was a symbol back in 1996?! Every other album is on there. Why not Emancipation?!

Yup it's gone, as well as 3121... Slowly but surely I think it will be the end of the Prince catalouge on TIDAL...

That's not good. I still enjoy being able to find all sorts of music on Tidal, but if his catalog goes then it's fair game with any other streaming service from now on.

Change it one more time..

Albums have come and gone in the past. I think it may be related to their shitty database more than anything else.

Oh No! I was just listening to Emancipation and when I came back it was gone! For those like me who don't have it on any media at all - are these songs forever gone to us?

This is weird..I have all the Prince albums saved in my music but when I click on the emancipation and 3121 albums on my iPad app, I receive a message that content is no longer available....but I can still play both from my android phone app.

In addition, most of my playlists have disappeared from my iPad app...but, they are still available on my phone...

I really, really like the convenience of streaming from tidal...I don't want it messed with! I travel a lot and had a variety of playlists for different distances and circumstances..

Prince 4ever is now available on their store. It wasn't listed earlier this week.

Where do you see that on Tidal?

And when you say "store" you don't mean you can buy it on Tidal to download? only to stream as part of your subscription, right?

Tidal has a download store as well, 4Ever is indeed available over there. (no subscription needed)

.

Sad to see that the Prince catalogue isn't complete anymore.. sad

.

Also the main reason i"m still not all-in on streaming services, they can change their (and your) library anytime they want without notifying you. No control over your music..

Apple deleted an album from George Michael recently because there will be a deluxe album in March 2017 for example.

Just get the emancipation album from amazon and use a computer to rip the songs to your phone .the booklet is very nice and you won't have to worry about Tidal taking the album on and off of their site.

Can you get all of his albums on Amazon? I thought a lot of them were out of print (so to speak).

It's crazy Tidal are selling the 4Ever digital download for TWICE the amount of the physical CD.

.

Surely no one would be stupid enough to buy that!

When I sign into Tidal, these 2 albums are no longer listed under Prince, however when I go to My Music, where I have them stored and downloaded, they are there - and they play as before.

Anything you've downloaded to your Tidal app, remains even after it's been removed from the main service.

Flac is £19.79 whereas UK stores have physical CDs for £8.99 in supermarkets and £9.99 in record stores such as Fopp and HMV.

.

This is the price for the jewel case - I've not checked the digipak.

Seems like a good amount of people on the org love to talk about the virtues of streaming and laugh at the old folks who still buy physical copies. Well, just checked my shelf and Emancipation & 3121 CDs are right there where I left them... lol lol

And really, I don't play the CDs much anymore. I ripped them long ago and loaded them onto to my favorite digital device plus backed them up to a hard drive. So, I'm listening to digital files too, but, I don't have to worry about ever-changing licensing agreements or the whims of rights holders.

For all those that laugh and say I'm old and behind the times because I buy CDs and make my own rips instead of subscribing to a streaming service... I'm gonna go listen to Joint 2 Joint & Black Sweat! music

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

Might have been an idea to let fans know this was happening rather than people going to Tidal and finding out the hard way.

Where will people go to hear them now? Torrent sites I'd imagine. Congratulations "The Estate"...

When you say "downloaded to Tidal app" "do you mean "favorite" the albums? Or something else.

I had favorited the artists but that wasn't enough to keep these missing albums.

Thanks everyone for helping navigate this.

I stored Emancipation and 3121 on my offline music. The Dance and TeAmi are unavailable and that sucks cuz they were on a playlist I was totally using as my happy place in these treacherous times.

I have all his stuff on cd but my CDs were ruined. Not sure how because they were my prized possession. I was relying on Tidal. I feel like my source is about to dry up and I'm freaked out.

:scream:
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

Even Amazon UK are selling the physical discs for £11.00 and the MP3s for £12.09! Crazy...

I downloaded and stored Prince's albums to 'My Music' and mine still play fine as well. Thank God!!!

Really pissed at the Estate on this one! Prince supported Tidal and it seems to me the Estate care more about $$$ than anything else.

You could buy the albums on Tidal and download them... shrug
On the other hand, they include stuff like Soul Elite, Purple Waves, Live at Syracuse, and 94 East... No idea.

---- Well the estate is obligated by the court to find good deals for the estate. Maybe they don't see Tidal as a good deal however, once the family takes over they can always go back to Tidal.

Agreed. Prince clearly supported Tidal and was still doing so on the Monday before his passing.

The '90 days' argument is clearly some kind of legal loophole as Prince was happily working with Tidal and delivering exclusive material way past December, 2015, when the 90 days would've expired.

If Prince's music ends up on Spotify then I'll conclude the Estate is essentially corrupt, as that is something Prince clearly never wanted and was very outspoken about.

I 100% agree.

Prince went on a early hour Twitter rant about Spotify and pulled his music from every streaming site EXCEPT Tidal.

It's really frustrating supporting Prince's legacy when his own estate make it so damn difficult and go against what Prince would have done if he were still here.

Damn, I regret selling my original vinyl all those years ago (had to pay the bills), I wouldn't be so fed up if I still had physical copies. Grrr....
