Way Back home followed by This could be us.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Art official cage, if any.

Refreshing sounds, but otherwise either full of clichés or rather weak songwriting.

Everything except Funknroll. Can't stand that song and doesn't fit on the album.

Way Back Home, Affirmation III, Clouds, and Time. But honestly I like listening to this as a whole. Such a great album.

Breakdown and Way Back Home make me cry. sad . Atleast after 6 months, I'm able to pull back tears dropping..

I can understand that. I was blown away with emotion the first time I heard Way Back Home last summer. sad

It can still make me sad, but now it also gives me some comfort. I hope some day it does for you as well. hug

Time. Not that keen on any of the others. I don't like the album as a whole at all really, but Time is right up there with some of his best for me cool

Thanks, everyone! I love to see the different perspectives. That's what makes Prince so unique -- he really offers something for everyone. This album as been a slow burn for me. I was taken by Way Back Home the first time through, and I loved the live version of Funknroll I saw on TV. I'm loving 3rdEyeGirl more and more these days (the live Manchester show is truly amazing), and find this album very interesting.

see? I guess compared to himself he may not have been as active, who knows if he was doing things in the studio or not. but compared to any other artist, 4 years between albums isn't that uncommon. the actual music is subjective and really about as many opinions as people. some people loved 2010, some people hated it, seems like its a tradition with prince, some people think one album or another is a milestone, someone else thinks it was horrible. I guess, if i had to put my finger on the best spot where this fragmentation started it was lovesexy. yes, some people think it's his greatest album and it changed their lives, other people think it was the beginning of him losing his cutting edge. what I loved about Prince is he was always bustin. even in the period between 10-14, he was working ferociously with third eye girl. anyway, i'm just glad he never listened to the people here, he would have given up a long long time ago. People here were vicious for the most part.

He was so active throughout his career that I get exhausted just thinking about it. smile

It's almost like he was shoring up creative ideas in those four years, and then -- BOOM -- four albums, isn't it, in the last two years? Makes my head spin.

I cannot keep up with him even now. I'm just taking it slow. I missed some over the years because I ruminate over art that I love.

You know...I used to come to the org whenever something new came out...but I was always so put off ,by what I would call HARD CORE vitriol...for years It didnt compute with me that this was a FAN Community every time I looked there was some kind of heavy criticism ..

It used to hurt ME then now it breaks my heart that Prince might have read some of those things..

How crestfallen he might have been at times....after all the Love and Devotion he put into his Art,

and how much FUN he made it to be a fan...You had to search him out..and it was always a trippy ride.....smile

anyway

Back to the topic ..I Love the whole album ...

Its Profound in so many ways THe Artificial Cage is this body within which "I " reside

I hear him yearn for Freedom beyond this Earthly Realm...

Way back Home confirms it

I think so, too.

the man was a superman, even now, with his death and the deluge of music now available, i don't even have time to listen to it all. The stuff I do listen to is fine, lots of stuff that would have been as good or better than many songs he released. As a musician myself I'm trying to up my game feeling that I owe it to him. I have been saying since he died that the best tribute any musician could make to him it would be to raise their game. I am learning Purple Rain, but I'm even doing more to try and raise my own game and tap into the same work ethic he had.

the visual imagery the song gave me was of his spirit roaming anywhere it wanted to go. Who knows, maybe that's what he's doing now.

they weren't that positive, since i was booted off of here with an old username, i would just lurk and people were merciless, not everyone but a good contingent of people were just absolutely ruthless, i don't miss any oppurtunities to point that out just so these same cretins don't try to pretend different.

It's changed over time which is what I love about Prince's music. Things always go deeper.

Right now it's This Could Be Us with U Know and Time close behind.

way back home but the album has several high points, people's memories are so short but this was almost unanimously given glowing reviews when it came out.

I don't see anyone here saying anything different?

Way Back Home is the best one for me too but I love the whole album except for Breakfast Can Wait.

I never thought it would happen but BCW grew on me too. How I wish though, that prince was in the video instead of that girl trying to look like Prince. Creepy. i think it was his last video, right?

The only thing I don't like is the Donald Duck voice on BCW.

Breakfast Can Wait. i LOVE the hell out of this song and play it LOUD as fuck. The lyrics, the sexiness of it, the weird sped up chipmuck voice. "Guess whos in charge naw....das rite..." YES PRINCE GIVE ME EVERYTHING. That popping bass throughout. When people said they don't like this song I wanted to reach inside and shake them LOL. This song is HOTT.
