Maybe a protest needs to be staged to prevent this from happening. Fans in Minne, those visiting Minne, perhaps can chain themselves to the current fence. It would generate publicity and let the powers that be know, the fans do not approve. It would need to be an agreed upon date when many, many people come together to do it. Maybe signs made that say, "No Walls Around Paisley Park", or "Don't wall Prince in", etc.

Sadly guys this is why I have no faith in PP. When this (us) segment of fans die out etc.I think PP will be done. He already was viewed as "weird" old etc by this new generation of young folks. I dont see todays teens and 20 + somethings making a trek out to this large possibly soon to be walled off PP in the next 10 or 15 years or beyond. Its like they are making him and everything so unavailable almost as if they dont want future generations to discover him. PP is gonna struggle to turn a profit I think and after the first visits by us true die hards who loved him. It will slowly fizzle out. I give it 5 years before we hear that it has to be sold.

I really think we need to try and do something about this. It is a shrine. You do not just destroy a shrine. That is all kinds of fucked up. And there is not going to be a grave, so this is it...this is the place in the world we have to mark our love for him, and they want to destroy it. Why? I cannot think of any reason other than the fact it requires some maintenance, and that costs some money...and that is not a good enough reason to destroy a shrine. Peple have sent things to that fence from all over the damn world, and they will continue to do so as long as its there. Man, I am really upset about this. We've had fuck all, no funeral, no memorial, no grave, no explanations, nothing. This is what we have, and they want to get rid of that too. It is really dismissive, and it shows no regard for our relationship to him and what he meant to us. Just 'give us your money and look at some clothes and guitars.' Okay, fine, I know they need to monetize PP to keep it open, but don't give us all 'we're doing this for the fans' and then destroy the most meaningful thing...And as people have said, if they build a wall, people will just grafitti their love on the wall, like they do at Abbey Road or at Jim Morrison's grave, because people need to be able to do that, they need a place where they can leave messages (and pancakes, and flowers, and packets of Cap'n Crunch) for him...and then it will just look like a fucking mess. Even from a marketing viewpoint, this makes no sense. The Purple Army has been and will be doing work on the ground sharing their love for Prince and introducing him to friends and family, which then can lead to more revenue for the estate over the long term. Why antagonize them? (side eye)

I've joined the change.org petition. TBH I have some doubts that will work, given the way things have played out. But I sure as hell won't take this without putting up a fight

They are possibly turning the Egg into a Boutique Hotel? Really?

I have not seen the inside of the Egg, so I am not sure the floor plan. But, they could have used that as a secondary musuem and gift shop. This could alleviate traffic in PP, especially if recording sessions are going on.

I am very dissappointed with the wall and Hotel ideas.

That's exactly what I was going to write. It might take a sit-in, something akin to what "tree-huggers" do to save endangered trees. I'd say this proposed wall warrants "fence-huggers."

It just might come to this point. If so, there will need to be a bail fund.

It's kind of ironic that Prince sang, 'It's so fresh knockin' down / The wall of Berlin' and here we are, facing the possibility of one being erected around PP.

I don't want some wall that makes PP look like a prison but should they allow people to leave stuff there indefinitely? Does it eventually just look like a mess? Will the estate have to maintain this and clear stuff out every few months? What happens during the winter when we get 10 inches of snow? I would propose they have a dedicated smaller area where they allow people to leave mementos. Think about Kensington Palace after Princess Diana died. At first, there were mountains of flowers and mementos. Over time, this decreased to the point where some items appear on her birthday and the date of her death now. This will happen to PP as well. When the Princess Diana exhibition went around the world, I saw it in Connecticut. I was able to sign a guest book which, at the conclusion of the tour, was to be sent back to Althorp, where she is buried, for the Spencer family to keep. I think it would be a lovely gesture if visitors to PP could sign a guest book (they better buy hundreds of them), to be kept with Prince's possessions forever. I just don't think people should protest the wall and the removal of the link fence. Prince would not have wanted anything like that. IMO
