When I was 12, I was definitely singing that - Prince song or not.

Don't get me wrong. I admired that he was so open about sexuality in his music, and what I initially thought was an ode to homosexualty here. I've always thought a person is entitled to their own happiness. My comment about the hate was mostly that I misheard such an easy line of lyrics and certain fans around these parts get persnickety over the littlest damn thing. Not to mention the possibility of a staunchly religious Prince fan here feeling outraged that I ironically mistook Prince's shout-out to almighty God as an ode to same-sex love. Kinda funny when I think about it now.

So, I swear I read someone on here that thought "Controversy" was "Country Pussy"? Did I read that other post wrong that said "Count your Pussy?" and make up my own version? If so, it's stuck. I have been singing "Country Pussy" for 2 weeks now...haha And my husband has been too since I told him. It's one of those things that you can't unheard. Yes, really. I was about 14 and I'm not a native speaker of English. I thought it sounded very artsy and imaginative.

"Punch a higher floor", as a kid I always sang, "Honey child, go...". I was six, seemed to make sense, and even now, knowing what he is saying, it takes a conscious effort to not sing it that way.
