No, but really, the best way to do a musical tribute?...
Let him sing; there's so much live footage to show so let us see it. Let some of those who knew him tell a few stories. Let artists he wrote for sing the songs he wrote for them.

Like, what!???...Also, I don't understand how the same 10 songs are the only ones being performed over and over again... I want to see the Revolution but I don't have the means to go. I think it's symbloc of the number of friends Prince had throughout the years and how he would cut ties with them only to start again with another group or protege. Love is God,

i'm a musician who plays many Prince songs and I hate most of the tributes. there have been some excellent ones but the one thing I keep saying is that the best way to pay tribute to Prince is to raise your own game and to be more like he was, a maverick, a true professional, a perfectionist. I may do a cover of Purple Rain but I still maintain that those things are what Prince was all about, the best way to honor him is to shoot for excellence with a fearlessness rarely seen in pop music. I mean, he made amends with a lot of the artists he has worked with in the past. There were also many artists he'd worked with that he did keep in contact with but not many people knew about it. For example, he was still helping out Tamar after her album was shelved. A bunch of people gave him a lot of mess about it claiming , "he's on to the next one" when he was the one that got her the gig with Tyler Perry. I personally think that his artists not being able to come together to do a solid tribute is because 1. Obviously they are all musicians in their own right and have shows to do themselves (well, some). 2. There are a lot of hurt feelings between these associated artists. Not all, but some. I think it has very little to do with the fact that P stopped working with some of them. Even if that was the case, after all he's done, they could take time to honor the person they were able to create great music with. He changed a lot of their lives. <3 | |

But yeah, I'm kinda sick of the tributes now, especially those organised by celebrities. Just let the guy rest now. It's like having him die over and over again. I thought the minnesota state fair tribute was fair enough though, he was a huge part of Minnesota and practically put them on the music map. The amount of tourism Minneapolis probably has Prince to thank for must be staggering. | |

Really don't like all this tributes, none..the goods and the bads...none can even get closer to him..more I see them like a way to gain some money or success back. If anybody wants to do an appropriate tribute has to play his own music, not Prince's one and give the money to the charity he was supporting | |

If a band wants to include a Prince song in its act: fine with me. I know the Academy Awards will feature both Prince and Bowie in its "In Memoriam" section in 2017 - that is, if someone there remembers to include them - they do tend to leave out people every year. Maybe the Emmys next month will salute them - they both did appear on TV from time to time. But any other official tributes - short of naming a building after him or something similar - should be over. He was such a class act - I hate seeing anything average or not the best as a tribute to him. That is why I am uncomfortable with the October concert: if they haven't booked acts at his level or very close to it ... it will just look like a money grab. JMO | |

I'm done with the tributes, as much as I understand that they're just trying to mourn him in their own way.
I can't hear Purple Rain sung one more time. Ugh And the ones singing Nothing Compares To You, for crying out loud PLEASE SING THE CORRECT LYRICS LIKE P WROTE THEM!!!!! "It's been 7 hours and 13 days..." Not 15 days, not 17 days...Argh I realize that the lyrics sung at the BET Awards were specifically changed to reflect how long P's been gone, but the others are simply singing sloppy lyrics and it sets my teeth on edge. I dont care for tributes (by way of people covering his songs) either. I do not like hearing other people sing his songs and have felt this way even while he was alive. However, I am glad the tributes take place. I am much more fond of non-musical tributes such as artwork, purple lights, etc |

I can't watch anyone else cover his songs so have not seen many. His own band members are different. For anyone else, I liked the way Adele and Noel G. did it - remember him, play his songs, show his video/picture, dedicate one of your songs to him etc. I'm glad they are all doing something though. | |

Most of them are very awkward. And all I can think when I watch that is how little most of these people know of his music. You can absolutely tell when a musician is a true fan/follower. Peace. Love. Prince | |

They don't mean that much to me although it's good that P life and work is celebrated of course. But I've never heard someone do justice to his music and it only shows that P was on another level. There will never be a guitar player for instance who can do justice to the guitar solos of songs like Purple Rain or The Question Of U. And to be honest, I hope no one will ever try. My memorial is remembering Prince as the beautiful man he was and all the joy his music and adventures brought to my life. I probably will always shed a tear when I think of him, but at least I got a chance to exist when he did
