I'm listening to Prince right now, and while scanning the latest topics on here I put on musicology for the first time in months... then this topic was the next one I saw lol
The whole thing from start to finish. The song that affects me most depends on my mood or what I'm going through at that time!

At the time it was released I was slightly underwhelmed as the album sounded a bit on the safe side. I played it yesterday and if I let go of expectations and just listen to the album 'as is' it is actually quite an enjoyable listen. Most of the songs are pretty good and well executed. It's hard to pick a favorite though, there are many enjoyable songs, I struggle to find an obvious winner.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

It's true that I dig 3121 more than this one...but listening back to Musicology, the only track I tend to skip is "On The Couch"...Everything else is ace...even "Life Of The Party" is cool to me...The only time he does his trademark scream...you know the one. Lol.

The song Musicology is an absolute classic.

Reflection is beautiful, though it's really all about the lyrics.

But, for me, it's got to be Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance. His opening vocals are so freaky; it makes me feel kind of queasy. The whole thing is off-kilter. It's one of those tracks that always seems to stop me in my tracks, unsettles me and makes me hit repeat.

Overall probably Reflection, but the last minute of ICP&C is funky as hell and my favorite part of that album. I really like the album. Very balanced.

Its funny but I didn't think I would like this album before I listened to it. It seemed like the reviews were solid but also seemed to indicate a lack of musical inventiveness. Then, I downloaded it from Tidal and I was suprised how much I enjoyed the album. Despite P's statements about teaching everyone the art of 'real' music, its actually a warm and non-pretentious album with mostly thoughful lyrics and solid song writing. Plus, his voice sounds great in Call My Name (nice to hear his lower register used along side his higher one). The only song I don't like is "Life of the Party" because it seems to scream for "Dirty MInd" lyrics. the rest of the songs prove that P could write good songs even with his Dirty Mind kept in check.

Favorite song--What do u want me to do?

Sometimes I like this album more than 3121.
