That's just Nuts, we know.

Also, no one apart from a professional, large scale venue can afford to insure a fan event properly against, ya know, crime, or claims of accidents and injuries on a(ny) property eiither by guests or folks working an event. And the estate damn sure should Not open itself up to that kind of liability. But no one here dreaming up ideas takes into account those sorts of every day realities.

That is incredibly rude. I, for one, am a person who works my butt off to provide for my family and we're still paycheck to paycheck. Not all of us in this world have the luxury of making a ton of money!

Ok. I am gonna say it. And many of you may get upset with me. But that's okay.

First, I am still upset about the fact that Prince died for something so illogical. Of course I don't have all the facts surrounding his death. But the fact that he went out like he did is unbelievable. Second, he did so without a will. All of his talk about legacy. All of his cease and desist orders about audio and video bootlegs. All of his rants about the internet not accounting for his music. And no future protection for it after he dies? Crazy! Third, it appears that his estate is going to be handled in a way where the people who made him (Friends because he did not call them Fans) will have very little access. He could have stopped playing all of the "I got my music in a vault" games and just released everything. What's the point of protecting music in a real vault if it is not truly protected in a legal vault? Anyway, he was about the music. The music. The music. Celebrations are ok. 3-month late celebrations... I will refrain from comment. Give me and probably many others what they always wanted and still want. Music! I pray that whomever ends up with the estate will protect that most cherished asset. If not, time will heal all wounds. We won't forget him. But will eventually accept, reconcile and conclude.

It would be cool if a fan started a Gofundme page or something and organized a real fan tribute one day. We were just as important to him as his family, if not more so. I bet we could get at least $50 from each fan. Think of the party we could have. We would probably have enough to hire a few bands like The Time and The Revolution. Or at the very least, a Prince cover band.

What about those that cannot afford it or do not have a job?

They probably couldn't afford to travel to such an event anyways, so no loss.

I am keeping the faith that fans will be included in the much needed grieving process and be part of a memorial. While a "tribute" for fans is fine, we need a proper "memorial" first and praying it is done that same wwekend so we can collectively move forward celebrating him after we give him a proper memorial for all those who he loved and who loved him. He loved his fans dearly and would want them to be a part of this.

We might as well keep having memorials for him at least until the Grammy awards. He won 7 Grammys, so there will HAVE to be some kind of tribute at the upcoming Grammys in February.

--

Also, I really feel that there is value in exposing the younger generation to his music. Every memorial provides an opportunity to expose more people to his music. I am a teacher; I teach kids who have autism (grades K-2/1-3 depending on the year). After he died, I took time at the end of a few school days to educate my students about Prince. I played a news clip from one of the nightly news broadcasts to give them some basinc information about who he was. Then, I played the video of the Super Bowl performance from 2007 and I pointed out the names of his songs, "Let's Go Crazy" and "Purple Rain" and I also told them when he was singing other people's songs. I remember one of my students asking why he was performing at a football game, so I explained why there is a halftime show. Most of my students (I had 6 at the time) enjoyed watching the video. I intend to show it periodically throughout the coming school year also, something my students can watch at the day while we pack up for dismissal. I look at it as social studies and music education. smile

--

Prince did not have a spouse or living children to continue his legacy, so that leaves the FANS with the important job of keeping his memory alive. He was such a unique talent that I hope he is remembered as a 20th/21st century Mozart-type-of-virtuoso for many centuries to come!!!

Someone in the camp told me. I've already booked my flight/hotel/car rental. All refundable just in case they change the dates. I was told 9/24 earlier this month - I'm guessing it true since the person that told me is also performing.

While attending an event would be nice, it's a fleeting moment and not lasting. I just hope that whoever has eventual control of the money does right by Prince and creates something LASTING-- like a museum, a music academy or larger-than-life physical memorial so that his legacy can be carried forward into future generations.

.

If Prince were here today, how would he want this money spent, based on what he believed? I know during Musicology he shared his concern for young children learning to play "real" music on "real" instruments.

.

As fans who were alive during P's life, the greatest thing we can do is to reflect the messages in his music that resonated most deeply with us as individuals by implementing new behaviors and taking action in our own lives, while we're still here.

What if fans do their own memorial that weekend of August 12? Let Prince's spirit guide us. He is no longer here on earth with us. No one is going to do anything for us but us with the help of his spirit.

I keep seeing money come up, do ya'll know that the city of LA paid for the majority of the Michael Jackson memorial. According to ET.

Whitney Houston's family let her homegoing service be televised and streamed. There was 1 service we cried with her mama, daughter, brothers and even had drama when Bobby Brown left. As big a fan as Stephen Hill at BET is, if they asked to stream any one of memorials you know they would. If its on BET its on MTV VH1 etc.

just my opinion

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince
