My feeling is that the OP and many others here were hurt and disappointed that P died the way he did after giving the impression he was clean and drug free. It was a shock I'm sure. I was a bit surprised myself honestly but then again I wasn't aware of his history of hip problems. After I heard that I was ok with it. Not ok with it but I totally get the difference between a "druggie" and a patient. I see people like P every day. Try to look at it like he died from an insulin reaction or something. He wasn't trying to dupe anyone. He had a very real health crisis. It's unfortunate the drugs he needed for his condition have very serious side effects like addiction. It is unfair to expect someone to share such a personal struggle with strangers which is realistically what we were to P.

I kinda feel the same way about how he died -- there was a health crisis that he was taking meds for, but it killed him instead. It isn't proof that he was abusing drugs. It doesn't erase a history of clean living. Did he try drugs when he wss younger? Hell, maybe! A lot of people do. I did, though it was only weed and I found the effect singularly unpleasant. I would never recommend it to anyone else, either. But yeah, man, it's crazy to assume that P's entire medical history should be an open book for people he never knew. No, no, no, let's not do that. That's his, even in death. I can't see reading his medical records.
Why d'you need to know? It totally seems like prurient interest to me.

I think the distinction lies in whether you go looking for all the tiny tidbits as though you're entitled to the information or not. Sure, I agree that hearing the little stories are fun; you know, that time Prince got caught being normal. But when I see fans up on their hind legs DEMANDING things they have no right to, it's annoying. Who are these people, thinking they own a man to expect to be in on every aspect of a man's life? Everyone deserves a level of downtime and privacy. Everyone deserves time to not be 'on', to be able to relax and not entertain the masses. And fans sometimes forgot that celebs are human beings, not inanimate objects, there for the sole purpose of our amusement. Not saying you, LBrent, do this, but I see this happening a lot. I mean, look at the dust up that happened when Justin Bieber told his fans to stop badgering him for pics every time he left his house. Like, how dare he ask for a little space, respect, and consideration! I don't even like the kid, and I applauded him for standing up for the right to be left the hell alone sometimes. I mean, come on, the boy should be able to see the outside world without canera flashes every single second.

I feel you. That's part of the reason that for me, seeking out going to PP was never an option when he was alive. That would've been way too much for my nosey disposition. Given the opportunity, I might have ended up rummaging through his kitchen or bathroom cabinets. I might if they open PP as a museum, don't be surprised if I get caught being nosey. SECURITY! smile [Edited 7/14/16 9:31am]

That's why I made it a point to draw the line and never visit PP pre-4/21/16.

Cabinets, closet, drawers, garage...I'm an unrepentant P noseybody. I'm not proud of it, but if I can't be honest with fellow fans, who else can I be honest with?

I would have wanted to be that "ride or die" female friend that knew all the business and deets, but would NEVER tell. Ever. For NO amount of money.

The type of friend that would pull him aside when he was being particularly "special", bop him upside the back of his head (verbally if not physically) and say, "Really, P? WTF?"

The friend who he could call at 3am and say, "T? I need you to pick me up. I'm at_____. Bring 5 feet of duct tape, 3 paper clips, a carpet steamer and 2 packs of rubber gloves..."

Yeah, I'd cuss his lil ass out...but I'd go get him anyway.

My fantasy friendship with P. Definitely not a love interest.

And I'm a career RN so I would have had a LOT to say to him. ALOT.

Trust me.

Haha yeah, we might have some shared thoughts. I wouldn't go through his stuff, but I would go across his head when he got special, like, "Bro, you gon' learn today! I don't put up with it and I don't care how cute you are."

Bro would be wearing more hands than he wanted to, and not in a nice way.

Hell we got no answers about his personal life when he was alive either lol so what's the difference? No matter what orgers know when to cut it off and not to go to far cuz in the end we all really loved Prince as a person. Im not gonna say anything to disrespect his memory and when he was alive I tried my best not to hurt his feelings then either, but hell I wanna know lol

Celebrities are funny. They want our attention, love, adoration, and money. However, when fans want to know more about them, they are labeled intrusive. No matter what these celebs think, life doesn't work that way. Prince was a big-time celebrity and I'll give it to him, he did a great job of concealing his personal life from his fans. However, it all going to come out one day. Money talks and there are plenty of people who were on his payroll who aren't getting a check anymore. Eventually they will publish their stories about Prince. Too bad his family won't speak up for him before that happens.

Uh..., not all celebrities want all that, especially musicians. Fame and money can do a lot of damage especially on musicians who tend to be quite sensitive people.

I'm fine with not knowing all the details of his personal life or his struggles with health issues. I didn't really put him on a pedestal anyway other than as a musical celebrity. I don't care to hear about how horny he was, or about his religious beliefs, or how demanding and difficult he could be. I was devastated when I heard he passed because he was larger than life and such a fixture here in MN that a world without Prince in it wasn't even imaginable. The news of his cause of death and then learning how close he came to getting the help he needed was almost unbearable. I don't believe he was a junky. I don't believe he wanted to be an addict nor recklessly became one. I was heartsick that he was simply another victim of the opioid epidemic. And I realized how powerful those drugs are if they could take someone as smart and strong willed as Prince. I can't imagine how difficult all of this was for him to deal with while trying to maintain his career and retain some amount of privacy too. I've learned enough. I've learned all I need to know.

He wasn't a junkie. Junkies take drugs for the pleasure of getting "high".

He was a patient whose body became used to a prescribed drug.

There's a difference.

Either way, it leads to addiction and it rewires your neural pathway so that you need the drug in order to function. I never used heavy drugs, but as a psychology major, there are people who use street drugs to escape reality because they may be suffering from a mental illness (depression, bipolar disorder). But I don't think Prince was suffering from an addiction, I simply think he was trying to wean off of it.

I think he was a faker and a very evil man. I don't know it, but I think so. I base this on what vanity said about him being in the occult and supernatural stuff happening around him. I think that he was putting on all the way around. I also think he did evil things to people. Yup. Do I know, nope...but these record companies don't just sell music they sell people, images, in ways you people know not of, maybe some of you do but....they are selling people, not just product, and that's why people want to know about these people. I haven't liked what I have found out about Prince, in fact, I'm deeply upset about it, for a number of reasons, including who his associates were. Can't help but wonder what kind of fakery was going on amongst them all. And what the consequences of all that fakery were, and who were the targets...

Well, I can understand your right to feel deceived on some level, but consider this...IF, big IF...way back when, Vanity said whatever, and keeping in mind her own struggles which led her to rehab and reform that led to an apparent awakening and awareness that included religion...Could you consider that it's possible that whatever P might have been involved in or thinking about or believing in nearly 20-25 years ago might have changed?

That there might have been a window of opportunity during all those years where he might have moved in a different direction in his thoughts and actions and feelings?

That part of his struggle to be free from WB might have come from seeing and or being involved in things that ultimately he decided were wrong for him and the journey he wanted to be on?

I can't speak for anyone else, but over the past 20-25 years I've certainly changed in behavior, likes, dislikes.

Can you at least see a bit of a possibility that it's possible that whatever "sins" P might be guilty of during 57 years, that he was trying to evolved into a better, imperfect, but better human being?

I don't feel comfortable throwing stones at anyone in general and P in particular because I know that my life journey has been far from pristine.

Of course, everyone's mileage may vary.

THIS! All day/night!

Sonshine is right. I don't want to know Prince's business but if someone is sharing a good story{like the one about the Grammys and the cart}, I'll take it. I might even take a bad story, cause he was human.

They say death is the great equalizer. So on April 20 Prince was a mystical, magical musical genus within who could make all your cell phone pics of him vanish. April 21 Prince was dead, we would later find out it was an opiod overdose. I think most fans had prepared themselves for percocette and we got fentanyl. Where did that come from?

Now I have other questions, for example my grandfather who died Feb. 18 and I was there when it happened. The nurse gave him a shot and he never woke up. What was in that shot?

Didn't plan on sharing all that, but what a lot of us are looking for is peace of mind. Its hard to get sometime in these situations. Its like a funeral, they are not for the person in the casket, there for the "fools he left here."

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

About P's pictures disappearing from cell phones:

A few days ago, Wendy Williams showed this scarf a lady invented. It's made of teeny crystals. When you drape it over you it just looks like a nice scarf, but it your picture is taken, you're invisible!

Think of all the outfits P wore with hoods or scarf wraps or head scarves...

Hmmm...

I think it's called The Paparazzi Scarf.

I don't give a flying shit anymore about Prince's personal life. Yeah I know it sounds harsh and I don't mean to be disrespectful to the deceased, but even bothering to get into his personal life is frustrating, mostly based on speculation, and overall pointless because we get so few answers. These feelings first arose when he passed — I always believed Prince's anti drug stance

I have spend countless hours since he passed going over what I thought I know about his life. Yes his life is his business, but it is human nature to want to know more about the person that writes and performs the music you love. I also thought he lived a drug free life, etc. Most people on drugs prescription or not, do go off in the opposite direction to cover up for thier own uses. You are right we really knew nothing about him. He also came across on having such a hold on women, but did he really? I have been watching him perfom over and over. He performed Cream on unplugged. He sang "Your so good, nobody does it better" "Everything you do is success" Then he stopped and said to the audience "You know I wrote this song while I was looking in the mirror" the audience laughed and Prince said "I'm serious" and went on singing. Then I realized he sung this song about himself from a mirror image, he was serious. SO there must have been other songs that he actually wrote about himself, The Beautiful Ones, writing the songs with the words about himself and words being said to him as he sees his own image. Perhaps not actually about the women he may have been with at the time. Think about it everyone pretty much went on to become famous so they walked away with that. Would they really want to admit they had a deal to be with him for stardom in exchange to be hs trophy? ALot of the women are forever grateful to him because he changed their lives for the better and made them famous. (which is what they wanted). Vanity has passed away perhaps she left her memoirs about her life with him and someone may publish a book based on it?? Or Mayte must have a clause in the divorce that she can't speak disparagingly or the estate could sue her. It amazes me and I was beleiving that every woman he was with says she still loves him, etc. When relationships end there is always some bitterness no matter who ended it...and someone usually speaks out about it. But not in his case. As Charisma Dove said we don't know anything at all, if he led us to beleive he led a clean life, what else was he leading us to beleive? I loved him as everyone else did. There is so much I am questioning now.........does it really matter now that he has passed? probably not. But I, as a great fan want to know his real driving force to be the great artist, that he was in so many ways. In another interview I watched he said " I am tapping or discovering (something to that affect) my feminine side." What about his "NO Cursing" around him, that was one of things that made his early music so great, the erotic nature and cursing in erotic city. That was a complete turn around. Becomes a Jehovah Witness ? He has great great music while with Warner Brothers, after he pulled away from them, his music was good and I still loved it but it wasn't as great and impressionable as the songs he put out while under the direction of Warner Brothers. He had hit after hit after hit.

The type of friend that would pull him aside when he was being particularly "special", bop him upside the back of his head (verbally if not physically) and say, "Really, P? WTF?" The friend who he could call at 3am and say, "T? I need you to pick me up. I'm at_______. Bring 5 feet of duct tape, 3 paper clips, a carpet steamer and 2 packs of rubber gloves..." Yeah, I'd cuss his lil ass out...but I'd go get him anyway. My fantasy friendship with P. Definitely not a love interest. And I'm a career RN so I would have had a LOT to say to him. ALOT. Trust me. ..sighs..Raises Hand...Hello My name is Ameda and I would be a P nosebody too...Think we need a P's nosebody anonymous support group LBrent? lol lol anyway as to you saying the kind of friendship you would like to have with P, I'm the same way. Yeah he was a cutie and I"m not immune to his handsomeness but I would have also liked to have been that same kind of friend, Now if called me up at 3am to say bring rope, duct tape, and tarps? I would have been like P? I'm not helping you hide no bodies now! lol

an

Prince's was not a junkie. You can get addicted to BC Powders and those don't get you high, they're not a narcotic either. I know of people that have died from taking too many of those too. People really need to get their fact straight. No way was he getting high... I been in that world and trust me, he couldn't have hid it that long with no one finding out or him showing it in some way.

I say we let Prince rest. Wondering what he did in his personal life and going as far as things have gone is totally disrespectful in all types of ways. I believe Prince believed everything that he wrote and lived most of it. There were times like all of us he changed his mind. Then there are things that he felt the same about his whole career. I'm sure that he made mistakes, lied and even fucked up more that one time in more than one way. Do you know why that is? It's because he was human just like the rest of us FUCK UPS! I'm sure everything he did he wasn't always proud of. That's part of being human. If you think about it, it might be he covered up a few things to keep from hurting the people he knew loved him, his fans. I'm sure he knew the negative things would bother some people.

Let Prince be dead the way he wanted to be alive, "FREE AS A BIRD SO HE CAN TOUCH THE CLOUDS."

That's why I made it a point to draw the line and never visit PP pre-4/21/16. Cabinets, closet, drawers, garage...I'm an unrepentant P noseybody. I don't give a flying shit anymore about Prince's personal life. Yeah I know it sounds harsh and I don't mean to be disrespectful to the deceased, but even bothering to get into his personal life is frustrating, mostly based on speculation, and overall pointless because we get so few answers. These feelings first arose when he passed — I always believed Prince's anti drug stance and I remember a time when some P fans used to make fun of MJ for overdosing (lol). I always believed Prince was in the right and that, even though he had demons like us all, his life was all music and he'd go on for another few decades. His sudden drug-related death made me realize I actually didn't know jack shit about Prince in the first place. He closed himself off personally from us in life, and now it's time we throw in the towel and admit we know very little of his life. I find it ironic how fans rush to defend Prince on things like his sexuality, rumors about him, and such. My question is how do you know and why even bother? This time last year we would have laughed someone out of the room if they so much as implied Prince was into drugs. At this point if Prince turned out to have been a Satanic homosexual in life (aka the opposite of the religious womanizer he portrayed, for anyone who took that wrong), I honestly wouldn't be surprised because I've confirmed to myself and accepted that the guy kept his life totally secret. We honestly don't really know him. We just know his career. I mean for fucks sake half of the people he dealt with called him a dick and the other half love him. He himself contradicted himself countless times. I'm not trying to say Prince was a bad person. He had a profound effect on millions and certainly did good deeds in his life... But let's stop acting like we knew him. It's pointless to defend someone who, unknown to us, could actually be guilty of what acquaintances claim about him. I guess what I'm trying to say is — I'm done defending and speculating about this guy because it just leads to frustration and no solid answers in the end. Vanity or Mayte? Idk, let's make a 200 page thread that doesn't confirm anything. The most recent example is the autopsy report - talk about the most limited info available lol. We knew Prince overdosed since April, all we learned was the name of the drug. While most celebs' fans get the full report, we're gonna be here a year later still speculating if he was on meds for pain or not, how long he was on it, what fully happened that night etc. EVERYTHING about Prince is mysterious. So why even bother getting into his life if you'll never get a solid answer for anything? Personally, I felt better when I stopped caring about Prince's life and death and instead focused on the music. That's the only thing we can be sure of. May Prince RIP. I'm hoping for an intelligent mature discussion.

BEST.....POST....EVER!!!! yeahthat

I agree with you CharismaDove. Those that did known him even if they did know anything that would put him in a negative light would most likely not do so out of a sense of loyalty to Prince but also a sense of not wanting fans to see him in that kind of light. I think the ones in the past who worked with him or knew him and told of their negative encounters are probably telling truths. I also think that those who knew him and tell of their postive encounters with him are probaby telling truths as well. My personal belief is there was only one perfect sinless man that ever walke this earth and he died and rose again over 2000 yrs ago. Anyone before or after him is going to show both sides of their coins the rest of their lives.

Exactly! There is a reason why Prince people left Prince AS WELL as there is a reason why former associates and friends/lovers loved him too.

I mean, this man was extremely talented and provacative. But at the same time, Prince is not here to defend himself, to say who the "true love of his life" is, to forgive others as well as be forgiven, to clear up mistruths or whatever.

He didn't do it when he was alive wink

And dare him to give a scowling look. Start pointing at the body at the slightest hint of a look.
