I just wanted to add also that I think one of the reasons that Prince liked Denise so much was that she wasn't a complete doormat. I mean yeah she put up with his bs for a while, but I think their heated, volitale fights were because she disliked being treated like crap and let him know it. I think deep down he respected that. Alot of his other women were too in awe of him to put up much a fuss I think, even though for some I believe it upset them deeply. I loved Denise, I can totally see why she could not have continued to stay on for Purple Rain.

I know, i get why she left too BUT i would have looooooved if she would have been in Purple Rain...their chemistry would have been off the charts especially cuz they were lovers at the time in real life

Oh I agree! I love Apples but yeah it would have been a different movie with Vanity in it. Darker, sexier for sure..it would have been cool to see Prince/Denise's onscreen chemistry.

I don't fault her for taking off though. It must have been hard for her to break it off but I think she knew Prince just wasn't going to stop seeing other women at that time in his life. I have a lot of respect for her that she put her foot down...I don't think Prince was used to women like that.

i feel like they are soulmates. I also respect that she didn't fabricate stories about their relationship or try to sell their experiences to the media. I was listening to her talk about God yesterday on a interview & it was so beautiful it made me cry. I haven't heard of someone talk about God in that way in such a long time. She was zealous. <3 That was beautiful.

She was courageous and none of the other "muses" compared to her; she is iconic - an original- the lace gloves, wearing the lingerie, the thigh high boots, I even liked her gorilla coat. Love everything about her- even her OTT preaching- she was unique.

I think when she died, the grief you saw was the same grief you are now seeing from Morris Day. Posting pics of Prince every few hours on his FB and Twitter page.

You are seeing the grief from the MEMORY of the person and the times you shared. That loves never goes away but it doesn't mean it was still a romantic love after all of this time.

"You could tell he really loved her". Of course he loved her. Just like we loved him, MJ, Whitney, various family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and others who were a part of our lives and have now departed.

"He got a little emotional". Don't we all, when we reminisce about the past in connection to someones death: A time in his life when he and Denise were in their prime. Life was sweet and the world was their oyster. Now they are both middle age and approaching their senior years. She has passed on after a long illness, and he is not too well himself and is faciing his own immortality. Enough to make anyone emotional, don't you think.

Mayte Garcia, Carmen Electra, Susannah Melvoin, Jill Jones, Devin Devasquez bore no resemblence to Vanity at all but Prince bedded them all and married one, so if you're trying to say that all of his attractions were to women who looked like Vanity you are sorely wrong!

People are making waaaay too much out of this brief affair/business relationship that P had with Vanity 35 years ago because of some fascination/connection they have with her that possibly mirrors a relationship in their past, or as for the women on these threads, maybe Vanity reminds them of themselves.

THIS!!! Just posted a similar comment earlier. Nothing could be farther from the truth!!! And with Morris Day still grieving hard about Prince and Vanity, he's subject to say anything about their relationship (such as they were true soul mates ect.) based on his feelings of grief.

Well no, but I'd guess Prince was a very insecure person deep down and that drove alot of his behavior especialy in the early years. Frankly I think he had a huge problem with emotional intimacy, in addition I think Denise did as well.
