Tributes in/by magazines & newspapers - PART 2

The original thread has expired so here's a new one.

Link to the original thread here.

Some good info by suomynona here:

suomynona said:

.
Original post (that also included newspaper tributes): http://prince.org/msg/7/424190

That thread is only 13 pages long, so I listed all of the physical magazines in this new thread in alphabetical order so that the conversation can continue. (The original post self-locked, according to luv4u. Militant is going to talk to Ben about unlocking it so that the conversation can continue.)

Here is a full list of tributes where Prince is on the cover of magazines -- all from the original thread. Not listing newspapers because they are done with their tributes. Included the Easton Press book because it is a tribute, and you can still buy it. Also didn't include online only magazines as we are talking about physical magazines that we can hold in our hands.

Magazines: (Prince is on the cover. However these magazines include ads, and articles/content not Prince related)
Artful Living [Minneapolis] - Summer 2016
Bazaar [Poland] - 4 different tribute covers
Billboard - May 7, 2016 (Volume 128, Issue 12)
Classic Pop (non-commemorative issue) June/July 2016
Crossbeat Special Edition Prince by Shinko Music Mook [Japan] - June 9, 2016
Easton Press book
Ebony - June 2016
Entertainment Weekly - May 6, 2016
Guitar Magazine [Japan] - July 2016
Guitar World - August 2016
HITS - April 25, 2016
Hot Press - May 12, 2016
Music Magazine [Japan] - June 2016
Musik Express [Germany] - June 2016
Muziq [France] - April 2016
NME - April 29, 2016
New Stars [Germany] - June 1, 2016
The New Yorker - May 2, 2016
Paris Match [France] - April 2016 (12 pages)
People - May 9, 2016
Q - July 2016
Rock & Folk [France] - June 2016
RockDelux [Spain] - June 2016
Rolling Stone - May 19, 2016
Rolling Stone [India] - May 2016
Rolling Stone [Germany] - Includes covers CD and SOTT DVD - NOT a commemorative issue (buy directly here)
The Season Magazine [Thailand]
Slam Magazine - Rock Classics [Germany] - June/July/August 2016
Soundz [Netherlands] (buy directly here)
The Source (2 different covers, same content) - June/July 2016
Tempo Magazine [Turkey] May 2016
Uncut - Pop Life: The Prince Special (not a commemorative issue)
US Weekly - May 9, 2016
Vanity Fair [Italy] - May 2016
Who Magazine [Australia] May 9, 2016

Commemorative issues: (a little more expensive, but have zero advertisements and the entire issue -- all of the content -- is dedicated to Prince)
Classic Pop - Prince A Celebration - Commemorative Issue (buy directly here)
Condé Nast Commemorative Issue

Essence Commemorative Issue
Newsweek Commemorative Issue
People Commemorative Issue
Prince A Revolutionary Icon Commemorative Issue (worst of the commemorative issues)

Rolling Stone Commemorative Issue
TIME Commemorative Issue

There are a few of the commemorative issues that you can buy directly from the magazine's publisher on Amazon. Please check there before paying stupid prices on ebay.

If people want to orgnote me with a correction, or something that should be in the first post of this thread, please let me know and I'll edit this post.

I recommend all of the commemorative issues, except the flimsy "Prince A Revolutionary Icon." Unlike the other issues, the quality of the paper is poor -- and there isn't as much content as the others.

That's great, thanks Suomynona and militant! I like the fact that you have included magazines from all around the world and not just the US or the UK.

Wax Poetics is releasing a special edition re-print of their Prince issue from 2012!

As indicated by their Twitter, it will be up for sale in a couple of days. No sure of the price at this point.

I tried desperately hard to get a copy of that Wax Poetics issue when it first came out, but wasn't able to. I hit up about 15-20 different indie record stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester that I'd found out were usually stockists. They'd all sold out like, straight away. It was super frustrating.

So I'd like to get a copy of the reprint. It was even more annoying because I'd bought issues of the magazine before, I have two or three different ones, including the Roger Troutman special issue. Whereas I bet a buncha people who bought the Prince issue had never even heard of the magazine before. But that's the way it goes.

Someone notify me when the reprint is on sale, please.

That is where I first saw it! I'm not sure if they still do. I'm also not sure if this re-print will be availble in stores or just online.

Militant, have you tried to purchase this yet? I just get a message saying:

"This item will soon be available for purchase in your territory."

Does the UK have to wait longer or is there a way around it to buy it now?

Still no sign of The Genius Of Prince magazine being made available in the UK sad

Got to say that I enjoyed the People special edition a lot.
