.

"When 2 R In Love" is probably thee greatest song in the history of all the galaxies.

.

That one was good, but every other Prince slow song gets the instant skip button on my CD player. I don't buy Prince albums to help me get to sleep. I like to groove and move. Slow tune comes up on a Prince CD...I immedately reach over and hit that skip button.

. . I keep reading posts about how people love all these love songs Prince puts out there. I just assume they are all the women and girls that frequent this forum. . As a straight man who is also married these slow songs do absolutely nothing for me. But even when i was single i couldn't get into them. I loved his funky, rock and quirky songs about sex, love and relationships. . I'm talking about songs like Do Me Baby, Slow Love, Scandalous, When 2 R In Love, The Most Beautiful Girl In The World, Sometimes It Snows In April, songs of that ilk. I can't listen to them. . Are all the men out there of similar frame of mind or am i on an island here? . .

I used to feel that way when I was in my teens and much of this music first came out, but I find the ballads hit me much deeper as I get older.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I sort of feel like it has to do with what was your gateway into Prince.

If the rock stuff got you into Prince I don't see you digging it. But if you enjoyed any R&B and especially soul music before him I don't see how you can't.

I love his slow songs, absolutely, they provided me with a lot of sexual confidence growing up, as Prince in general gave me self confidence in so many ways, guess I'm not afraid to embrace my feminine side, another great gift that he gave to me and to many many more men, of all sexual preferences all over the world.
All u haters need to recognize, if u cant c right through these lies, good gawd!

I just like good sanging man. Prince delivers some real nice vocals and is a great song writer. I've never viewed those songs as being sung directly to me. If anything, they make me think of the women in my life. I relate to Prince more in those songs than to whoever he's singing to.

At the end of the day it's about whether it sounds good or not.

None except the ones on Sign o the Times which are masterful without being too overt. Ok I'll add The Beautiful Ones to that.

YES!!! And i got a 27 year old daughter to prove it LOL. She gave me a beautiful granddaughter now 7 years old, all of this would not be possible if Prince did not write, compose and stuck his whole foot in a slow jam called "Adore".

Straight white guy here.

Love Prince's ballads. Even the over-the-top sexual ones like International Lover and Do Me, Baby. It's not about gender but PASSION and feeling.

Well, I had my first James Brown album before I had my first Prince album, so maybe I was more into the "Get up! Git onnn up!" side of soul music. And then, yeah, you're going to like U Got the Look better than Slow Love. Although JB had some pretty cool ballads too, like Bewildered.

I've never even thought about it before. I'm a man who's always enjoyed his love songs. A song like Adore is beyond sublime.

It sounds like you think you can only get into these songs if you believe Prince is singing directly at you, i.e. you need to be the object of his sexual desire. I've never listened to his songs like that. It's more like he's singing on my behalf at the object of my sexual desire. Otherwise, I simply enjoy them for their musical, vocal and lyrical brilliance.

There are a few I love. It's usually because of either the vocal or the arrangement which are somewhat unusual in a way.

Here's a sample;

Open Book

Condition Of The Heart

Gotta Broken Heart Again

How Come U Dont Call Me Anymore

Adore

Dionne

I Love U But I Dont Trust You Anymore

There are a few more but that's the jist of it.

Doesn't turn me on but I find that Im amazed how one person can do all the vocals on a song like Insatiable yet sounds like many different individuals. If it does anything for me it makes me envious. Wish I had a voice that good , that versatile.

Many of my male friends who are Prince fans seemed to view his slow songs as "set the mood" songs. The women dug it, so the men played into Prince's romantic delivery. Plus, Prince had a unique way of conveying sensual, romantic, freaky, nasty stuff in a way that wasn't vulgar.

yeahthat

As my brother always told me..."Prince gets the girls panties wet...the rest is up to you!" In my high school days (early 90s) we made mix tapes. The Prince one was called "The Prince Poonani Getter" nod NEVER failed. disbelief

Make it so, Number One...

I like listening to them, but I'm not sure what you mean when you ask if they "do" something for me. I've never had a woman in my life who thought Prince was anything but creepy, so I can't say his love songs have helped me get any booty, either. In fact, I asked a girl to dance with me in my teen days when the next slow song came on. She said yes. I went up to the DJ and requested a Prince ballad. When they song started I went over to her and she refused to dance because it was Prince and he was creepy. Oh well.

Yeah Prince does not give the wife positive vibes excep theRevolution years...for the most part Let's face it most adult women can't really relate to scarlet p***y or erotic city
Honestly 98w&l girl brothers cd got more love than any Prince post 87 from the wife. Generally P gets the prdophile rapist comments from my wife and past girlfriends. It's why I am looking to unload almost complete cd catalog.
