I decided to try AOA first. Called every Wrecka Stow within 50 miles. They have Purple Rain and 1999. Plenty of those. I didn't realize I might not be able to just get what I want. sad One of the stores told me there are so few places that make vinyl that I would probably have to wait 2+ months. I am so disappointed. I want my Prince now.

my local wal mart has it!

That's because everybody thought vinyl was on its way out in the 1990s/2000s and now it's on the rise again, so the few record plants that are left can't keep up with the demand! Still, 2 months is a loooong time.

Yes! This is what I was told. No vinyl at my Walmart. I called all the record stores in a college town one hour away. Still no. I may have to settle for a cd.

Uhm, yeah... I don't know where you live, but if you pay for the shipping costs... Just to be clear, it's the CD that is for sale (I already put it on the Dutch version of Ebay), not the LP.

I'm in the states and I gather you are not. I did think you meant the cd. lol But I'm guessing shipping would be nearly as much as my buying it here. Thank you though! Such a kind offer.

You sound like we might be from the same generation, soooo....if funk is what you like, get Exodus and New Power Soul. Amazon and Ebay have both. Exodus is a little pricier, but I'm soooo glad I still have those jewels.

Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

I thought I responded to this....I am in the states, so I think shipping might be as much as it would be to buy it. But thank you so much for the generous offer. (I did think you meant the cd biggrin )

ETA: I'm a noob. I did respond. Please excuse the double post. confused

Thank you for the kind welcome. I went to one record store today and got on a list to be called when AOA in vinyl is restocked. They had a few cd's but their vinyl I already have. I'm going to settle for a cd. I cannot be patient.

good to hear you can get to the music quickly this way. Enjoy AOA! Please feel free to post your feelings about the album on here after you've listened to it.

The Rainbow Children got me seriously interested in Prince again after a long period where I wasn't especially for him (though never against) and my enthusiasm hasn't waned since. That's where I'd recommend you to start, but remember it's a concept album and you'll have to listen to it right through - and probably several times. But it's worth it.

I bought a cd! HitnRun Phase Two. Listening now on headphones. My brother works at a Wrecka Stow in New Orleans and they had the same three or four Prince records I can find locally. I had thought I'd buy AOA but it wasn't in stock and I wasn't leaving empty handed. Maybe I will end up with it on vinyl after all. I eally like Xtralovable. And Baltimore too. Excited to listen to it all. And then do it again. Thanks again for all the great suggestions.

ETA: It was only 4.99. I would have bought others if they had been in stock at this price.

Sad but true, just thought of this, go to your local library.... Around 2 pm on April 21, I checked out all the Prince cd's we had at my library and promptly told staff this is really sad, we only had 5 cd's. They quickly ordered everything that could be ordered. I was hoping that we would have access to some of the NPG music club music but we don't.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

Today was my lucky day! We went on a day trip to a neighboring town 2 1/2 hours away. I, of course, called all the record stores I could find open on a Sunday. I found AOA on Vinyl!! I am beside myself but have gotten home too late to listen to the whole thing with my kiddos going to bed in a bit. I didn't realize it is a double album.

I listened to HitnRun last night and on the drive today and one side of AOA tonight. So far, I love them both. Maybe AOA a bit more. These will last me quite awhile and then I'll be back to peruse your suggestions more. Thanks all!
