I agree. Nobody has nothing on Prince, that is for sure. St V is still fairly young though. Definitely one to watch. But I know nothing matched Prince. I won't even try. I just not so patiently wait for "new old stuff" ... I had never heard Beautiful Strange before a few weeks ago and I really treasure that "new to me song". And we can all enjoy Phase2 for at least a year before we really feel that no new music void.

She's in her mid 30's, not that young. It's such a different world.

Although if her next album is also a film then maybe she'll come close.

Apparently you have yet to realize what some of us have known for the better part of our lives: we were privileged to exist in the same era as someone who is so singularly unique, so cursed with a gift he could hardly contain, that people centuries from now will listen to his recordings and wish they could have been here with us to witness the spectacle.

Besides Prince, I also like Bowie, Queen, Coldplay, Temples, PinkFloyd, Lenny Kravitz, REM, Radiohead, Metallica, Mozart, The Beatles, Beachboys and many more.

A load of these artists/bands don't perform anymore, some for obvious reasons. But music is recorded for a reason, it is forever. But when it comes to live shows, I always try to get tickets for Coldplay, Lenny and Temples. But I must admit, for Prince I always tried harder...

No one...! And I feel the same way about Joni Mitchell. There's no one with everything they had. But there WILL be great artists in the future. It's just... some individuals are uniquely gifted.

I was lucky to see Ella Fitzgerald in concert in the 1980s. And Steely Dan, Beach Boys, the Kinks, Linda Ronstadt.

Prince was unlike any other. His story is truly inspiring. He had so many facets -- no one will come along in my life time who mastered all the instruments he did, composing, singing, arranging & performing. And dancing! That alone amazes me.

But there will always be artists to encourage us to look deeply at the world (inside and out), and we can create our own art, be it musical or visual or written stories.

That's what he would want, isn't it?

If we are lucky enough to still be here -- or if we are off colonizing alien worlds -- we will have a very different view of what "rock" was. Check this out: http://www.nytimes.com/20...hone-share

My Dad once told me that if you like a song the first listen -- you're much likely to still enjoy it a week later.

That's why, for most of us, the best tracks on PR aren't PR, WDC or LGC.

i will eventually enjoy and appreciate other artists, but the massive prince hole will always be there

sad and at the same time uplifting. it speaks to his reach and depth and uniqueness that that hole will never be filled

No one can be like Prince. He was an eccentric funky cat. Guess what? He could play the guitar too.

I am totally obsessed with his music like I haver never been in those nearly 30 years. I know there won' be any new music coming anytime ever, so I made multiple copies of everything I own so it can last for another 30 years. I need to be prepared in case I am in urgent need of his voice.

Prince passing is a crime to humanity. Everybody will realize in the future he was like Mozart, not like any other silly pop crap and there are all shit. ALL OF THEM.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

big and bright that it is not even a possibility. There was no one before, no one after.

yeahthat Seriously? There is no replacement for Prince, he was one of a kind and for most of us, one in a lifetime. Not sure how this question could possibly even come up shake

I watched Santana on YouTube last nite and he did a tribute to Prince. He performed Last December and his guitar sounded so good. Made me sad because he pretty much nailed it. There can never be another Prince or one who could fill his shoes. But as far as the guitar goes, Santana took me to another place with Last December. I still mourn...

wow. is this a legitimate question???

.

many artists are "unique" in their own right..

but Prince - is UNIQUELY UNIQUE.

.

I mean I could go on - we ALL could go on about how "UNIQUE" Prince is..

about how his music has had such a TREMENDOUS IMPACT on all our lives..

but at this point, I think I'd only be REDUNDANT & REPETITIVE.

.

I'm relative certain that I can speak not only for me

but for many other people here

when I say that Prince & his music are

COMPLETELY, TOTALLY IRREPLACEABLE.

.

after God made Prince..

the mold was SHATTERED & OBLITERATED.

PERMANENTLY.

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I think it's safe for me to say that no one will ever come close. Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye will always be my second favourites, and I have recently been listening to Miles Davis and Nina Simone a lot, but again, they'll never be anywhere near what Prince means to me. I like some new acts as well, of course, but I am not 15 anymore. No one is going to have the effect in my that he had. But it's fine. Prince may no longer be with us, but his music will always be with me.
