Also Madhouse 8 and 16

I "had" all of these but for some reason thought it was a wonderful idea to ditch the plasic cases/digpaks and just keep the actual CD and liner notes.

DOH!

I sold the extra copy of Madhouse 16 about 15 or so years ago on ebay. It was still in the longbox. Found it in 1992 at Fred Meyer in the bargain bin for $2.99. I kept the Mazarati, Madhouse 8, Madhouse 16 that I bought directly from 1800newfunk for $40 each. Sold Apollonia 6 for around $300 around 1992 -- and then bought it again later at the same price.

Only thing I wish I hadn't sold was Tamara & The Seen debut record on Japanese CD. It was missing the obi, but I found that at a pawn shop in the early 90s for $5. Should have kept it even though I sold it for over $200.

So much of the crazy prices you see on ebay (The Gold Experience, for example) will become moot when the estate licenses all of the WB releases to WB for reissue. No sense in spending crazy prices on ebay for anything other than actual promos or other limited edition things like vinyl picture discs. Chances are all of the legitimate commercial releases you see on ebay will be reissued as soon as the Bremer trust completes it's inventory and the estate is worked out. (Assuming a will isn't found nullifying everything I just said.)

Yes. I have a copy. Acquired 20 years ago from a private seller. Thankfully the seller didn't scam me, because this was before ebay. You see one come up every few years.

"The Future" promo CD single is more rare. More rare than any of those listed in this thread -- including the original Black Album. More rare than any Prince-related CD sold on ebay since 4/21.

Nothing exclusive on them, anyway.

Talking of P promo compilation, to me the only one of real musical interest is "The Crown Jewels" that AFAIK is the only CD releases of "Batdance (The Batmix Edit)" and it has many single edits (like "Alphabet St" and a version of "Partyman" without Jack Nicholson intro).

Tracklist far more interesting than the Japan promo CD and more trackable without to sell a lung.

About 2 months ago, I checked on the price for The Crown Jewels and it was selling anywhere between $10 and $25. It's just not that rare. I haven't opened my copy, or I'd rip it for you. You can find many of those edits on US promo CD singles.

Maybe he already had "The Truth" -- or is going to pick that up later. I've seen a lot of that lately. People selling just the disc. You just never know. With that said, I expect that "Crystal Ball" 4CD version will be reissued soon through the estate. Even if they have to license it through WB. Not sure how those rights go though. Might be more difficult than I assume, due to all of the people that will need to be paid, have the rights, etc.

I've just watched a Gold Experience go for over $60(au) and this was the killer, a 4 cd "collection" of Graffiti Bridge, new Power Soul, Exodus and Crucial (Demo) (bootleg?).. go for $180(au)..

..

Most of my collection is in a box at my wife's family home in Auckland, I know a few things I have, but I don't think i have Rainbow children, which i really want, but the ebay prices are MENTAL.

.

Quick tidal question for those who are members. If I sign up, can I purchase the NPG music club stuff? or can i just access it while i have valid membership? thanks

Nope. If you need the money, sell it. Warner is releasing tGE later this year. You can buy it again then. May even be remastered.

With that said, I have 4 different versions of tGE in my collection.

I don't believe you need to be a member to purchase through Tidal. For example, here is Xpectation in Tidal's Australia site. http://tidal.com/au/store...m/50784249

Yes, ebay prices are stupid -- and you could easily be duped into buying a CDR of something, or a straight up two decade old bootleg. Wait for Warners to re-release everything. Hopefully the estate will be super greedy and allow for remastering. Not buying anything commercial on vinyl or CD until that happens. I mean, unless you don't mind double dipping and not supporting Prince.

I wish he would have done this before he passed away, and we could have supported him directly. Not a fan of supporting people that had nothing to do with his creativity. Oh well.

You don't need to be a member. I signed up for the 30-day membership before buying almost all of the Tidal exclusives. (Didn't buy the Purple Rain - EP because I'm not spending $20 for one digital file.)

TIDAL the website is a piece of pooptoast

The navigation is a goddamn joke. They must have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential sales due to the fact that half of the time there isn't a purchase button if you aren't logged in. Also, that they don't allow you to buy single tracks off of records.

Anyways, that's my rant about their stupid website. It's almost as if it was designed by someone who used to design Prince's bloated websites.

I just meant that it's selling for ten times that amount now. This is just a time for real fans to stay away from ebay smile Let the market normalize, and the reissues/remasters (and hopefully deluxe editions) come out.

Sucks right now being a fan because of the great loss we all feel, but better times are ahead -- again, depending on how greedy the estate is. (I'm hoping EXTREMELY greedy.)

AMEN TO THAT. In a rational world, every single one of these "official" releases (including Madhouse) will be made available beatifully packaged, remastered, etc....(see Beatles. hell they even re-released the mono and US alternate versions)

Yeah the prices I'm seeing are ridicuolous! I've been lucky to purchase some cd's at a relatively decent price on Amazon and Discogs. I want TGE and Crystal Ball but no way I am paying $100+ for either one! I figured I would wait nd see if they will be released by WB.

On a side note, I was interested in buying Vanitys book but it was going for $999!! Crazy!

As a fan, it just pisses me off. I realize P wasn't into the past, but artists/record companies know fans want these things and are willing to pay for them. All of the "Free The Music" talk in the mid-90s had fans at that time VERY excited. But it just never happened. Instead, you see what happens instead on ebay. All kinds of f*ckery with CDRs and fake remastered fake promos of Purple Rain being sold. Because someone didn't have the vision -- or didn't want to share in the proceeds -- or whatever stupid excuse -- to give the fans what they wanted. Commercially available -- reasonably priced -- remastered releases of his first 10 records (for starters.)

I'll never understand his stance on that. F*ck Plectrumelectrum and AOE. If you're doing another deal with WB -- remaster/reissue the records that mattered. Then throw in copies of PE and AOE as bundles and charge more for deluxe versions of Purple Rain and 1999. Just strange that unlike other artists who were also screwed over by Warner/Asylum/Reprise -- still had the vision to realize they could make more money. (See Joni Mitchell.)

It was listed for $999, or selling for $999? Definitely not selling for that stupid amount. Not unless it's a magazine and she was in a hotel lobby with it.

With that said, I wonder what I could get for my still sealed hardcover of "The Sacrifice of Victor" lol. (I'll never open/sell it.)

None of those are rare or expensive apart from the Undertake CD.

.

A lot of the CD single promos are rare and expensive as they had limited runs.

One of My favourites in my collection is the Man O War CD promo.

It is! I was able to find Sheila E's book for $1 on ebay with $4 2 day shipping. I had some reward bucks and ended up paying .27 cents for it!! The book is hardcover and in excellent condition too. I bought it the day after Prince passed so I got an excellent deal.

I paid over $100US for that one several years ago. I can only imagine it's going for a lot more now.

I saw that a sealed copy of ONA piano and voice went for over $700.00 about two weeks ago. I've got an extra sealed copy and I'm seriously thinking about putting it up on EBAY. I don't know why anyone would pay that kind of money because it's about the music for me not whether the cd is sealed or not.

if it's an extra copy anyway now would probably be the best of times to put it on ebay. I don't mean to be disrespectful to Prince or any of us fans by making that statement. it's just that I don't see these prices lasting. so if you could use the money I'd say go for it. personally I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a music item but obviously a lot of people are emptying their pockets as we speak

I have original copy's of both MadHouse 8 & 16 on CD. Got them used at a store in SF 10 yrs ago for 8.00 apiece.

I also have a promotional copy of Madhoue 8 on Vinyl bought for only $4.99

I couldn't belive it at the time that I would see both cd's together for sale let alone the vinyl.

I don't know how to postphoto's on this site for some reason or i would.

I also have this copy of The Undertaker shown on Amazon -

Thanks Mightycow. That's exactly what a friend of mine said. Yea, I always supported Prince and bought what was out there but a part of me feels as if it's "wrong" but then again, it is an extra copy and if it can make someone else happy, I probably should sell it and yes, I could always use an extra $700.00

I'm amazed how much people are playing for bootlegs. From Apollonia 6 to NPGMC.

I would have thought the hardest genuine CDs to track down at the moment would be:

51 Hours

Undertaker

Goldnigga (extra track)

The War

Peace Single

Then it might be the likes of:

Apollonia

Madhouse longboxes

ATWIAD Longbox

Vanity 6

The Truth Single

and of course various promos (real ones that is).
