The Associated Press is reporting that 2 people affiliated with Prince's career have been hired to help manage Prince's assets while the determination of heirs, etc. is still being figured out.

Question: I am a newbie, so I'm still trying to figure out your system. How do stickies work? If there is new information relevant to the estate (or whatever the topic), is it to be posted at the tail-end of the said sticky section, like here on page 4...or is there a way that "breaking" news, relative to the estate (or whatever the topic), is not buried?

I'm pretty new as well. It would be helpful if the breaking news/updated info was on the first page of the sticky instead of having to go to the last page of the thread to see if there is new info. Especially since repeating threads are locked so quickly. Can be quite annoying. I'd prefer if at least one additional thread was allowed and stickys just be announcements with current updates. I don't know..

From the AP:

The entertainment assets of Prince's estate will be managed by two key figures in his career. L. Londell McMillan, the artist's longtime attorney, manager and friend, and business executive Charles A. Koppelman have been chosen for the task by the court-approved special administrator. Bremer Trust National Association confirmed Thursday it was retaining the pair. The decision was first reported by the music magazine The Source, which is owned by McMillan.

This probably signals a fairly conservative "as Prince would likely have wished" approach. I'd expect limited releases of the less sexually/profanity-laced Vault material with heavy consultation of collaborators to avoid legal action.

I do not think this may be a bad thing. McMillan was there during Prince's split with Warner, so he may have insight on how Prince wanted things done. Speculating.

We still have a long way to go. Maybe once the heirs are deteremined, if that is not contested, things will pick up.

We had very few stickies until Prince died. Then, understandably, many many people started threads that covered the same information. So the moderators created stickie threads for each of the topics that seemed to be receiving the most duplicate threads.

That's why we have so many stickies right now. And it's why you will see threads that deal with the same subject as one of the stickies get locked pretty fast. They're just trying to keep things as unconfusing as possible, although that's a tall order for sure right now.

The best thing to do is post information in the sticky that best deals with it. Otherwise, if you create a new thread on a subject that the mods deem already covered by a stickie, it will be locked. The dilemma is that none of the posts in the new/locked thread are moved to the stickie thread.

So if you think you have something important to say and it might deal with a subject that's been stickied, put it in the stickie.

I understand your concern. I just can't understand how he worked ALL those years with/for Prince and did not INSIST that an estate plan be drawn up. I know Prince was bull-headed, but if ANYONE could have convinced him to consent to an inventory of his assets and to go through the estate planning process, it should have been Londell. For this reason, the lack of a will/trust just doesn't sit right with me. Try as I might, I can't shake this feeling that something is not right.

Yet as Prince's lawyer for years, he neglected to make sure Prince had a will. And somehow, he now ends up with an important role in managing the entertainment assets of Prince's estate, even though he and Prince had parted ways, long before he died. bored2

Up to now, this is all Londell has had to say about the apparent lack of an estate plan:

“My Opinion: #Prince absolutely should have had a Will (period)” - L. Londell McMillan

Prince ‘Absolutely Shou...awyer Says

#Truth: I wish I was involved in my friend #Prince business affairs towards the end like I was a decade prior,” he noted. “Life can be so fragile!” - L. Londell McMillan

CROWNS1

I'm sure Prince had every woman he ever dated/married and every person who ever worked for him sign a gag order, so I wonder if now that he is gone if people will start writing books...or if the estate can still uphold the contracts. It will be interesting to see.

Hi everyone -
The ground rules for the case are being laid with the Court.

Pleadings (legal documents that are filed with the court) have been submitted requesting that the Court ban: photography, video recording, audio recording, during these proceedings.

The different team members are being figured out.

To see what documents have been filed with the Court, see:

http://www.mncourts.gov/I...elson.aspx

Even though it doesn't seem like very much is currently ongoing, based on my experience, they are probably very busy drafting the Inventory (which is completely itemized). After the heirs have been determined, the next big pleading to be filed in tne Estate's case, will be the Inventory. And, as you can imagine, some things will be difficult to value. The Inventory is a very important document. The estate assets are valued at the date-of-death for the Inventory.

(This is not legal advice, and is not constituting a relationship with a client. This is for for informational purposes only. This is based on my current knowledge, information, belief, and experience. If you have any questions about your estate, please seek advice from your attorney.)

RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

We are gathered here today 2 get through this thing called: 'Life'."

Some of us are here to talk about the music. So when there are literally 50 threads about the estate (use the custom google search bar in the right hand corner of every page on this website) -- it turns into the Prince ESTATE forum, instead of the reason that brought us all here in the first place. The music.

Folks have Google alerts set up for Prince. Therefore, whenever there is breaking news (or old news for that matter) -- folks come here and post it without bothering to look to see if it has already been posted.

Seriously -- do we really need more than one estate thread? Folks that want to freak out about what might or might not happen can post in that thread, rather than have 50 of them. Stickies are self explanatory. If there are going to be 1,000,000 threads about the upcoming god-awful BET awards, why not make a sticky so that everyone can go batshit crazy in that?

It's common sense. Any decent message board in the internet has seperate forums and stickies to keep things as organized as possible. It's why when you go to Yelp and search for your favorite restaurant -- the same exact location isn't listed 500 times.
