To me, the albums by Prince, Prince And The Revolution, Prince And The New Power Generation, New Power Generation, prince and even Madhouse are all Prince albums and I classify and organize them chronologically as such. So, be "right" all you want when organizing your own collection. No need to get twisted about my opinion.

Okay, but here's a puzzler... The NPG Orchestra? That's still Prince, right?

But, did he perform it?

hmmm

I'm not ashamed to admit I don't have them all, nor do I plan to. I like to listen to the ones I have. I've wasted enough money over the years on music I don't listen to. I just bought three more from my Prince wish list the other day. At this point I have a few more titles yet I want to add which would bring me to about 15 total.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I think it's hilarious that we are debating whether or not we have ALL 39 (wows!) of Prince's studio albums, or that someone declared anyone who has all 39 studio albums to be a "fanatic." His studio albums are like 4% of my collection (not an actual estimate). I made a playlist of all my Prince and Prince-related music and it was more than 58 days' straight of music. When it comes to Prince and all his b-sides and remixes and associated artists and protégées and unreleased tracks and live shows and live shows and live shows, only looking at his 39 studio albums is dumb as fuck. It's not even the tip of the iceberg. I mean, shit, the Work It 2.0 collection alone is 34 discs. And someone wants to make a fuss about whether others have all 39 studio albums? Good god.

Huh? What are you saying, that you can't possibly be a true fan unless you own every one of his albums? Bullshit. ohgoon

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I was a fan from the moment I owned my first album.

What I can't understand is not wanting to listen to them all (or most - don't bother with NEWS) - buying and owning might be a different matter for some of course.

23 of them.

.

all of them up to the rainbow children and then only 3121 after that. my relationship with prince used to be this - he would put out an album and i would go out and buy it asap.

.

he tested my patience with diamond and pearls. i'm sorry but that album was horrible with only the wonderful money don't matter 2 nite saving it. but as soon as the love symbol album came out i was under his spell again.

.

then emancipation happened. the relationship was never the same again. sure i bought the crystal ball 3cd set and enjoyed it. rave, not so much. the rainbow children was quite good but not good enough to commit me to buy any more cds. until i heard black sweat, then straight out to the store to buy 3121. didn't really pay that much attention after that.

.

No, they're smart. You don't need the physical - I guarantee you most everyone here just rips their CDs and plays the files on their devices anyway. I have most, many on multiple copies on multiple formats but they just weigh you down. You don't need them.

Unless you actually have a good stereo/hifi system. On which even lossless mp3's sound cactus.

I like being weighed down. It's an experience I can't get from I's and 0's.

And if you have not heard his early stuff on vinyl I feel sorry for you.

yeahthat Aside from my hundreds of Prince & related vinyl & hundreds of Prince & related CDs & dozens of cassettes, I have a hard drive with approx 1.5TB of Prince & related material. That's what happens you've been obsessively collecting Prince for 33 years. And I don't have everything, not by a LONG shot.

Hell, my 160GB iPod classic is over 25% full of Prince material, and that's just what I carry around with me. Guess I'm a FanAddict!! lol

You can be a true fan even if you don't own any of his albums... Just not an obsessive, fanatacal, completist, crazy type fan. lol

My Bang and Olfsen Stereo still works great. I prefer the physical and I still prefer the vinyl. That is how I discovered Prince and that is how I want to remember him.

Free Urself!

I really don't feel sorry for new people who don't experience the music the same way I did. They can get anything with a few clicks and take it anywhere. Good luck playing your vinyl in the car, on a plane, in a tram, walking around...
