You should feel horrible. You are just one more nail in the coffin of music artists making money from their art. disbelief

No, they're smart. You don't need the physical - I guarantee you most everyone here just rips their CDs and plays the files on their devices anyway. I have most, many on multiple copies on multiple formats but they just weigh you down. You don't need them.

listening to Tidal isnt the problem, is paying the artist for their art through Tidal that's the problem. I don't know how much Tidal pay but other services like Spotify pay £0.17 per 1000 plays which is disgusting.

I consider the NPG and Madhouse albums--where Prince writes and performs almost everything, but his name is not in the artist credit--to be Prince projects as opposed to official albums. smile

I get that. But...

They are albums and they are official so, they are official albums.

And yes, I also include Madhouse. If News & Xpectation are Prince albums then so are 8 & 16.

In my not-even-a-little-bit-humble opinion, of course. cool

I agree, and would include the first two albums by The Time as Prince albums, too.

.

Ditto with Madhouse 8 and 16 - those are Prince instrumental albums, just like NEWS and CNOTE. Those albums don't exist without his input and desire to put them together.

I have all CD official releases except GoldNigga. I have a cd-r copy though so good quality. I do consider New PowerSoul to be Prince solo album so in my opinion 39 albums list is too short.

Did any of the NPG Music Club albums outside if One More Alone live get a wreckastow release?.

.

All these were available in record stores:

.

- "Crystal Ball / The Truth"

- "New Power Soul"

- "Rainbow Children"

- "N.E.W.S"

- "3121"

.

.

And then The NPG Club closed, no?

Yes I have all those albums on CD and I think the timeline of the music club closing is about right. If he got CNote etc in stores I'm sure the fans would have bought the physical versions too, I would have for sure.

I bought about 6 or 7 copies of that at the Paisley garage sale back in 2000. I sold them all. I probably made about $800 total. I only paid about $40 or so.

Newpower Soul IS a Prince album..... imho... nod nod

I would consider it to be a Prince album too. Prince wrote all the songs, sang on all the songs and probably plays most instruments on all the songs. It would be like saying that Black Messiah is not a D'Angelo album and crediting it to The Vanguard.

Black Messiah is credited to D'Angelo and The Vanguard on the album cover. Newpower Soul is only credited to The New Power Generation on the cover. So they are not the same.

Black Messiah is considered a D'Angelo album though, regardless of his backing band. The NPG are only acting as Prince's band on NPS, but it's still a Prince album, regardless of what the cover says.

I have them all, along with all known associates etc.

I disliked the live ONA so much that I got rid of it.

Someone borrowed my Staples "Time Waits for No One" cd and never returned it.

all of them. There are at least 10-15 that I can't get into, but I've got all of them, and almost all of the protege albums as well.

My music collection has my thousands of CDs in alphabetical order, with the exception of Prince who has his own section.

It really still doesn't seem real.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Depends on how you look at it. Some Prince And The New Power Generation albums are listed as such, some are listed as Prince, some even as prince, and yes some as New Power Generation. My mind won't be changed on this, I'm guessing yours won't either. Agree to disagree? wink

I own every album of his from computer purchases, about 21 on CD, another 6 on record with countless singles and B sides.

The only stuff of his I don't own at all are the madhouse albums, The first NPG album and the family album.

Yes, well, Princevault doesn't count Newpowersoul as a Prince album and it clearly is one so although that is the premiere source for Prince info their "opinion" on how to classify the NPG albums does not trump my opinion.

Now can we simply agree to disagree, or, do you have to be "right", cuz, I'm not backing down but I'm happy to let it be a simple difference of opinion. wink

I don't have to be "right" because I'm right. Prince purposely credited the album to the New Power Generation and not Prince so it's a New Power Generation album.

He purposely credited a number of albums to prince, during a period in which he sometimes had us chant "Prince is dead." No one took that seriously (at least, no one's arguing those aren't Prince albums in this thread, though I do remember people occasionally seeming to back then), why should we pay any attention to any of the other times he lied about who made the music?

Sure, there are three albums out there credited to the New Power Generation. But one's really just the album Prince recorded for Tony M., one's the album Prince did for Sonny T., and one's, well, a Prince album. Luckily, I found all of them in the same section at my local record store, with Child of the Sun, 1-800-New Funk, and the Black Album, as well as Come and The Gold Experience. They were all considered Prince there.

It might not have been "right"--but it was convenient. biggrin

Yes. That statement is correct. And since there is no difference between a Prince And The New Power Generation album and a New Power Generation album in any way they are still Prince albums.

Is The Gold Experience a Prince album, or do you feel the need to have a separate prince section?

To me, the albums by Prince, Prince And The Revolution, Prince And The New Power Generation, New Power Generation, prince and even Madhouse are all Prince albums and I classify and organize them chronologically as such. So, be "right" all you want when organizing your own collection. No need to get twisted about my opinion.

For the third time, agree to disagree? 'Cause, this is getting silly. lol

All 39. I could never find an official Goldnigga, but I own a bootleg of it. Goldnigga needs a reissue.
