Wrong and wrong. smile

There was a North American leg of the tour (my first show), and Alphabet St. and Anna Stesia were both resurrected again post 1988.

There certainly was,in the fall of 1988.I attended one of these shows (Oakland,November 11) and it was the best concert I ever saw.

He played Alphabet St pleanty of times over the years. Anastesia was often the closer for the ONA tour. He did take the tour to the USA. It wasnt well received in some places but he did tour there. He didnt tour SOTT in the US and made the concert movie instead to play in cinemas. But Lovesexy was a global event. It was a bloody expensive tour though.

With Prince's music it is hard to mention a best album, but Lovesexy..... This album and first the single GlamSlam (12 inch) started my addiction to his music and I still absolutly love it. So I have to say.....YES!

Absolutely agree. On this album he is his own genre. This album is one of his best and I think far superior to the black album. Although there are songs on the black album I like, as whole it doesn't touch lovesexy.

Funny, I don't like it on The Black Album! I guess it's all about which one you hear first...

I've been listening to this album a lot since he past away and man I have to say Lovesexy is a masterpiece✌🏾️It it the coolest, most funky and sexy record I've heard in years.

This album could come out now or 40 years ago and slay everything around. Lovesexy is definitely one of his most cohesive albums, all his musical influences are there and all the music genres he loved to fuse are present but instead of being messy or chaotic like some of his other albums this one just flat out works! The songs totally compliment one another. What a treat. I feel reborn after each listen.

The first time I saw Prince was during the Lovesexy tour. I still get chills when I listen to Anastasia because I remember him playing the heck out of the piano as he and it was ascending high above the stage. It was IN-CREDIBLE. As hard as it is to pick a favorite Prince album, Lovesexy is definitely in the top 3.

When I bought it, I couldn't stop listening to it, the whole experience was pretty good. On top of that back then, not many cd players had a "resume" feature so if you stopped mid-disc you were starting from the beginning or ffwding through it.

Wouldn't put Lovesexy in my top 5 of his if I'm honest. I like the first side but think the second is a mess. Never liked "Dance On" or the title track, and although I like the music of "I Wish U Heaven" I think the lyrics are dire, especially the second verse. Much prefer the Black Album to this. (BTW "Parade" is my favourite, then "SOTT", then "Purple Rain", then "Black", then "ATWIAD".)

Same here. Lovesexy Tour at Los Angeles Sports Arena. I love the album! First time I heard Alphabet Street on the radio, I had the same reaction when I first heard When Doves Cry. I was hooked! Also love I Wish U Heaven and Glam Slam (wish I was old enough then to go to the short-lived Glam Slam Club he had in L.A.). My favorite album cover, too. cool

speakeasy

I have to agree with much of the sentiment in this thread. LOVESEXY is one of my favorite Prince records.

It works as a WHOLE record as much as any other Prince record. Of course Sign of the Times is AMAZING--but it still feels like a collection of songs. LOVESEXY was an album.

I also have to say--for me--the quality of Prince's records dropped after this one. For me--this was the last GREAT one. (...from top to bottom)

Batman and Graffitti Bridge both had AMAZING moments--but there was also some fluff for the first time.

Diamonds and Pearls was a focused record--but for the first time (again for me)--he started to sound kind of slick and too polished. There was something (emotionally) raw and unhinged about those 80's records--and he started to lose that in the 90's.

I like the weird, raw, sexy, spiritual vibe on LOVESEXY so much!

so true. Lovesexy is a genre all to it's self

Personally I always treat Lovesexy and The Black Album as a double set kind of reflecting the live tour.
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
