Abdul

I've always viewed this project as Prince's "soul" album, I dig it as much as all his other projects

I've always thought that Baby was a great song...it's my favorite from the album.

The thing about For You is that it's so dated. Most of Prince's music sounds moving forward is far more timeless, but For You is permanently stuck in 1978. Even "Soft & Wet," arguably the album's most ambitious track, sounds like Soul Train meets the Star Wars Cantina. There all great songs but they're very much of the era.

I've always loved "For You" because it was just Prince showing how talented he was on all instruments. "Just as long as we're together" is a great track as is "So Blue". I always wish the title track was mixed differently but the album it's self is so fun to listen to and think about the talent that was waiting to come out even greater.

I've never listened to it, so that possibly means it is.

But my "most overlooked" would be The Rainbow Children. I'd say that got me interested in Prince again after a long absence.

I like For You -

I admit not a fan of News or Rainbow Children - but I will revist those and I am sure I will love them now I see things differently

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I don't think its great, but it showed hints of what was to come. The jerkiness of Soft & Wet, the thrill of I'm Yours and the melody of Baby.

The production is of its time, but far to soft (the second album suffered this also).

It's a historic beginning for me, rather than a great album.

Exactly. You put that album on and it's instant time machine. I can picture myself wearing an iron on STAR WARS tee shirt. Not a good thing.
