SHEILA E.

On top of the plans for a Paisley Park museum, fans might also get a chance to honor Prince at a tribute performance, which is currently in the works.

"I'm supposed to be the one musical director to put his tribute together with all of the original people and we hope that that happens," Sheila E. said. "We're working on it, we'll see what happens… the plan is to have something here in Minneapolis."

Good work on the sticky / cleaning up OF4S.

Right. Tribute. Sheila is confirmed as Musical Director (according to her).

I'll go first. How do I get tickets!? wink

Because this will be so big, I hope they do a bunch of shows. Because there is no way everyone who wants to go will be able to get into 1 show

Presume this will be in the States? Or do folks think they might do something in UK/Europe as well?

I hope it's not a tour, but instead something on TV... something that can be recorded or bought later. I want to be able to keep it as the "final piece" to my Prince collection. If it's a tour, not as many people will be able to go and see it -- it costs too much money to keep the artists together and staying around the tour destinations, commitment from the artists might be difficult; and it really should be a TRIBUTE -- not, I will do this is I get $$$$ or why is she getting more than me? -- and benefit PP as a museum or charity.

It would be cool if it went around the world in a day(year)

Prince was such a culture, that I hope some wonderful things continue with those that performed lived love created with him
I would hate for all things Prince to end after we get the remasters and/or the Vault is emptied

I don't think there's really any telling at this point. In the Strib, though, it sounded like Sheila E would ideally like to hold it at the new Vikings stadium; apparently all the seats there are purple so it would be a good fit. However, the stadium is currently projected to open on July 23rd (assuming no more delays/issues like the one earlier this year).

And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex

It would be great if they did this at Paisley Park, at the end of the day that's the place where he did a lot of concerts, birthday celebrations, etc. It was his freaking home.

It should be live streamed on tv and on internet so It can be watched, recorded, uploaded and enjoyed by EVERYONE and not just the ones who are able to pay or travel.

The earnings should go to charity or to help Paisley Park become a museum.

They need to reunite amazing people, great musicians and artists that were in touch with him through the years.

I don't want to see freaking Justin Bieber completely destroying Darling Nikki with some dumb girl in lingerie twerking in the back trying to impersonate Apollonia, or Drake rapping to Face Down.

I actually would love to see Apollonia, and Jill, Sheila, Brenda... Wendy and Lisa, The Time, Mayte, members from The Revolution, Rosie Gaines

The girls from 3rd Eye girl, Andy Allo, Janelle Monáe, Stevie Wonders and other artist paying homage.

If anybody connected to the planning is reading this - PLEASE - ensure this event is NOT a last-minute announced, middle-of-the-week event. This is NO time for a "hit n run" gig. Thank you.

I don't think I would enjoy hear usher or maxwell or beiber gaga or any other pop garbage singer butcher prince songs

I would however really enjoy the proteges performing the songs prince let them record

Chaka
The time
The family
Sheila
Sheena
Bangles
Sinead
Andre
Dez
Madhouse
Rosie

The rev could certainly handle mountains and 17 days ... Maybe throw in a place in heaven and america ... Everyone on purple rain i guess if they have to

Now that would be a concert

Probably gonna get beyonce butchering something instead
Or kendrick lamar rapping or some god awful crap

Hopefully sheila can reign in the no talent publicity whore pop jerks and only let folks truly close to the music perform

I dont wanna hear springsteen or any other gruphy jangle rock has been cough all over prince tunes

Dont talk 2 strangers
I feel 4 u
Jungle love
The bird
Mutiny
River run dry
The screams of passion
Six
Beautiful night
A love bizarre
Noon rendezvous
Glamorous life
The dance electric
Party up
Diamonds n pearls
Money dont matter 2night
U got the look
Erotic city
Manic monday
17 days
Mountains
A place in heaven
America
Nothing compares 2 u

Book it

The tribute concert in Paradiso, Amsterdam last night was pretty cool. Most artists kinda played the songs in a similar way Prince would have done.

.

But Hallo Venray really made a very different arrangement for Controversy. Either you love it, or you hate it, I guess.

.

What are your expectations for tributes, or THE tribute, to come? Do you like songs to be familiar, or do you like new arrangements/interpretations?

it was such an emotional show but off the top of my head, I think Matt said end of May. Details to be sorted out As for the video, Matt wasn't certain where it was posted.

I have the interview up at www.upperroomwithjoekelley.com

Monday May 2nd is our second live Prince show. Special guests will include Tamar Davis, St. Paul Peterson, Elisa Fiorillo and Jacqui Thompson (former head of Paisleys Park Records and Studios). More to be added.

There is a video from the Revolution with a short talk about getting ready to do some shows:

I would like to send my deepest heartfelt condolences to all of the Prince family and fans throughout the world who are mourning the passing of our friend and leader. Until we meet again.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, THE REVOLUTION!!"

I'd gladly watch or attend a concert with many of his associates and admirers.

That said, I don't see myself attending a Revolution concert. I love the guys but I'd rather preserve the memories I have than make new ones of s prince-less Revolution.

not just a Revolution gathering, Sheila E said she going to try and get everyone together it seems.

A Celebration of his music best to come from these people than other artist performing his music.

Hell yeah I'm going to the revolution shows! Ima take everyone I know with me too.
I wasn't ready for prince to go and it still doesn't feel real. I need a proper way to let go, and this, surrounded with a crowd full of people grieving like me sounds like just the thing I NEED!!!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN THE REVOLUTION FOR DOING THIS!!!
