I started listening yesterday but I can't watch interviews or any specials on him. I watch SNL faithfully but this is an episode I am going to miss. I'm even having troubles sleeping. I can't listen to other artists because they are irrelevant and insignificant to me right now. It's just too much.

I need the music to help me get through this, but even when I think I've managed to get lost in a song, it'll hit hard me that he's gone. He's gone. Damn it.

My eyes welled up reading this.I know exactly how you feel. Just when you think things are getting better, reality sets in and you remember.

I haven't been able to bring myself to throw any of my cds on. Until today. I barely got through a purple paisley medley...and I had to turn it off. But I watched the SNL special tonight and I was smiling through my tears. I'm so grateful for him and his music. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Actually, the music is making me heal so much faster I think. I have listened to so much Prince and watched so many videos in the last 2 or 3 days... It kind of feels like my own little memorial send up to him. Honestly, the music only further reinforces why he has been my favorite entertainer for 30+ years. The songs I have loved for all these years sound even more awesome now, if that's even possible. Wow, I'm going to miss Prince, but he sure left us something to remember him by!

I was able to watch Purple Rain and SOTT yesterday.

But I think I could because he was so young there. I can't listen to anything recent.

Will try to pull myself together and start living again.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

This is just too much, doesn't seem real, but that's it for his time on this earth.

For me, it's the opposite: I've listened to little else over the past couple of days - and I've felt quite hostile to the idea of breaking the flow by adding in something by anyone else. And I feel like I'm really appreciating a lot of stuff that had drfited, over time and inevitably, into just being familiar. Prince's music and performances have always been what's 'hit the spot' for me, as well as what let me know that the spot was there in the first place, so I think this a way of affirming to myself that this was something in my life that I loved.

And, like I said on one of the other threads, I feel a bit proud to have been a part of this - one of the select group of people that 'got' what was so great about it all - as well as feeling oddly 'proud' of him for having achieved it - like one might be about the achievements of a family member. I'm not one to be drawn in by the pomp and pageantry of political power, but I was also kind of moved by the fact that there was a tribute from the President. All the tributes and shared affirmations from fans have been very moving to me, too.

^I'm with you, deebee, I don't listen to anybody else for the time being. For me, that's the only way to honour him. And he still puts a smile on my face.

every morning for years I've listen to Prince b4 work, during the day and after work. Prince comforts me through his music. He is now comforting me in spirit. We will always have a very strong connection.

Whenever I try not to, I hear something that reminds me that Prince has passed away, whether it some old 70s Bruce Springsteen or Joni Mitchell or some jazz music with no words-just the mood and melody get's me and I been going to sleep and waking up singing some purple music in my head.

I've been jamming Around the World ina Day with the windows down, and some live Purple Rain shows

Listening 2 a lot of his early demos like Leaving 4 New York, and the music for When We're Dancing Close & Slow is taking on such a different mood.

One of the local jazz stations just played Love 2 the 9s and mixing in some Prince.

I'm listening to some Madhouse now too

yep...happy to have it in the background BUT physically cannot press 'play'. Purple Rain will just tip me over completley. Also, thinking of the many amazing fans met over the years & freindships made ..reading their tweets, seeing the wider community at P.Park in so much pain is killing me too.

I'm gradually getting back to listening again. Certains songs are going to take a while for me to hear again. My favorite song is Mountains (extended version).. Absolutely NO way I can listen to that right now.

I am making myself watch SNL. I think it's helping a bit.

I did this, and I cried non-stop but I felt my grief move a tiny bit.. I cant bring myself to put my headphones on and lay there and listen like I used to yet. His music represnets life so much and Im not reconciled yet with his transition. It makes the pain worse.

I am dreading listening to "Until U're In My Arms Again". It was too sad for me to listen to even before this. It's been a tearful few days, but going back to the music and live clips - some I'd never seen before - has been incredible. As James Corden said, what a thing, to have been alive while Prince was making music.

I'm unable to listen to any of his music either without crying. They even have a four hour tribute on Much music. I recorded it so maybe someday I will be able to watch it. I think I'm still in denial.

----I'm watching Much today. I turned it on this morning and I'm loving every minute of it. I haven't been able to listen to anything until this morning, but seeing these great videos and interviews are helping a little. hug

I turned it on a little while ago and they were playing "Another Lover" so I watched it as I was at that concert and it brought back memories and made me smile and cry. But I had to turn it off once it was done.

I haven't really listened to anyone but Prince for about 3 years, since rediscovering and reconnecting with his music. I am completely blown away by his catalogue and constantly adding to my collection. But...since his passing I haven't been able to listen to anything because I'm so gutted. Tonight, however, I am going to try and watch Montreux Jazz 2009...and we'll take it from there...
