I would add 17 Days (w/Brenda & Prince co-lead) replace Some Kind of Lover Manic Monday would have been a hit for Vanity 6 I can see Vanity's sassiness on this one since Brenda was backing vocals on Next Time Wipe the Lipstick Off Your Collar, I think that would have been a fitting track. Lust U Always ( a song with Susan on lead vocals) or Turn It Up
no A Millions Miles(I Love U) ??
I would put Vibrator as a B side to G-Spot LOL I think the album title 'In Search of the GSpot' might make it harder to sell?
It would have been cool for them to do Head during their live set

Denise felt she wasn't compensated fairly during her whole employment with . So she felt since he now wanted her to co-star in a movie with her. Her rate should be risen significantly. He refused. So she took the multi million dollar offer from Motown & bolted. Do U blame her.? I don't. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

here is an excerpt from an interview that Denise did several years ago:
As for why she left and didn't do Purple Rain, Denise said one of the reasons was money. She was only being paid $250 a week and Prince wasn't paying her for the tour they went on, or the fact that "Nasty Girl" was such a hit. "Prince was taking all that money and I thought 'you know what? This is adding up to nothing. I'm living out of a hotel-I gotta go' ". When asked if she had regrets about not doing Purple Rain, Matthews said she didn't and revealed that Prince wanted to pay her just $5,000 for the whole movie while she was being offered $300,000 to do ' The Last Dragon' movie. "I said,I'm outta here-that's the best you can do? bye". "It was just to hold me so I couldn't go anywhere. You know what I'm saying, so I couldn't do anything with my life ".

I'm not so sure about that.
Plus,Brenda revealed that she wasn't crazy about this song...she said it was "too pop" and I agree. It worked well for a band like the Bangles, but I don't think it works well with V6 or A6.

apparently, around that time,Prince was also involved with Susan. That's most likely another reason why Vanity left.In a People magazine interview from 1984,Vanity said "I needed one person to love me.Prince needed more".

Rick James took Vanity to a music awards show, but Prince enticed her away and bascially stole her from Rick....but then Berry Gordy came along, offered her a ton of money and was able to entice her away from Prince, lol

I envision it being a "concept album".Around that time, there was a lot of talk about the elusive G-spot and how so many women were trying to find it,lol. The first three songs on the album ("Sex Shooter","Vibrator" and "G-Spot") are thematically linked.I think it would have been an interesting concept, built around the search for something that was, apparently,so hard to find.

Prince would have made it work. A cool video with him in it play guitar (Brenda played guitar too) would have been cool with them both on guitar
I just think A6 Sex Shooter (tame) and V6 Sex Shooter ... Vanity can make anything steamy

U mean Vanity and not the 'White Girl' right? lol
Actually Morris & Vanity stayed in touch, and I think they both did a song on each others albums.
It is so funny, the support group effect: All of them were friens and supported each other Brenda Susan Vanity Morris the Time Jerome Jill

I'll post the story tomorrow. But Susan didn't want to be apart of what Prince was doing, she cut him off from her, and became friends with Vanity

. I think, from a business standpoint, she probably made the right decision by leaving. But for my own selfish reasons,I wish she had stayed, done the Purple Rain movie and a second V6 album. If she had done that and then went solo in 1985,she would have been in a much stronger position to launch her solo career.Morris Day wisely stayed and was able to launch his solo career from the hype that the movie generated. His first solo album was very successful while Vanity's 'Wild Animal' album was a flop.

Vanity was gorgeous but had no talent! After 5 mins. on stage even the GUYS lost interest in Vanity 6 and were anxious for The Time and of course Prince... I heard that Prince left Vanity because he suspected she was using drugs again and also over an argument about a movie that she was willing to go topless for.
Do any of us REALLY know? Relationships are complicated Irresistible bitch - I love the way U walk

let's be honest,though....most of the female Prince proteges don't have amazing voices Jill Jones was one of the few who could actually sing.

She recorded two solo albums: 'Wild Animal' (1984) and 'Skin On Skin' (1986).
'Wild Animal' is a disappointing album. The production is sterile and her vocals throughout are lousy. The only really good song is "Mechanical Emotion",which is also the only track that has "the Minneapolis sound".It also features Morris Day on the chorus.Songs like "Flippin Out" and "Crazy Maybe" suffer from terrible lyrics (all written by Vanity) and bad vocals.
'Skin On Skin' is a much better album.Motown brought in some songwriters this time and as a result,it's a "real" album this time. The first single,"Under The Influence",is sexy, lush and inviting.....arguably her finest single. On this album, she sounds better vocally.
