I was trying to figure out what song this reminded me of... the verse pattern, the melody of it... and then it came to me: "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)"

Please expand, I don't hear it.

The riff of the Beatie Boys tune I can hear somehow is similar to the verse. Is this what you mean?

I listened to the PA recording and 3rdeyegril versions so much that a) I miss the rock guitar (it's utterly awesome rocked up) and b) I keep expecting him to talk over it and to have gaps all over. I still think he's going to say 'you like' near the end.

It sounds very slightly differently mixed to the PA version and not in a good way. The keys bit has been toned down and sometimes replaced by horns on the 'da da da dahhhhhhhh' portion ( I think)

It might be the PA recording quality lacked some of the lower range, I dunno..

Anyways, I love the song.

V10LETBLUES

Love the flute and the lightness of the track. Has a nice chug along flow

It's solid. I thought it was Proud Mary at the beginning.

To me, I'd compare it more with Lolita than Cream or Endorphinemachine.

Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

I agree, not feeling cream in it and definitely not Endorphinmachine! Maybe a hint of Vavoom...

RIP sad

I find the lyrics a bit disturbing. I understand that a guy going up to 60 would like to have sex with an attractive young girl, but to sing a song about it ("she's old enough to do it, but too young to dare") creeps me out a bit.

It reminds me of when he was about 35 years and was dating Mayte when she was 16, that was shady already IMO. Only now he is almost 60, apparently still lusting after young virgins and not afraid to write songs about it???

I do like listening to the music of this song though.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Totally agree on the lyrics. Of course he's been there before with the likes of Lolita, The Morning Papers and worst of all Schoolyard but that's a whole different thread.

.

The line about X-Factor and Idol also makes me cringe.
