I always liked the original, and especially liked the remix.

I remember thinking that the song kinda came out of nowhere (and with a video too). No promotion really, it was just "there".

Now that it has a proper home, maybe it will get some new-found love.

There are tracks that I consider modern Prince classics on the level of his early work, and RRLA is one of them. It's such a cool innocuous mellow track I can't for the best of see what there is for anyone to use such a strong word as Hate on it lol

I think some people just have very rigid and narrow tastes in music that if it doesn't fit it, then it's bad or boring overlooking.

For me a new classic best of compilation would include the following newer tracks

Black Sweat
Te Amo Corazón
Somewhere Here On Earth
Dreamer
Colonized Mind
Stare
Back To The Lotus
June
Revelation
1000 Hugs and Kisses
..and of course Rock N Roll Love Affair

..among others

That's a pretty solid list. I would add The One U Wanna C and Musicology to that list.

And yes, RNR Love Affair definately belongs on the list. Great song, every version.

I've dug this one for 2 or 3 years. Glad it finally found a home, even if it's perhaps only on a collection for showcasing more bounty from this noteworthy era.

Laid back, super fun. "It's tight, but I think I could fit you in."

Immediately pokes my scoot in the corner booth through its thinning just as the click of the jukebox flips my grimace on a dime.

If we saw someone young, beautiful, and far more hip to people 40-45 years younger, it might be tough to continue to keep this dive so private.

But I'm kinda partial to these places that turn your muse to fire codes and drooping carcinogens.

I thought it was just ok when first released but now it is part of the album I have come to like it far more. I like the synth sound reminicent of 1999 days
