If they haven't heard them almost 3-4 years ago since they've been out.. That means they simply don't care 2 hear them. You're making it sound like it's some old 80's material from the vault.

It's songs like Screwdriver and RocknRoll LoveAffair ur talking about here... lol lol

On whether it's terrible that many of the songs were released before...

Those songs were internet singles, not everyone got them, so it's nice to see they were released on an album. Not every fan (especially casual) gets the internet singles.

On the whining about the whining...

Whine on, BVH, at least he stopped and did something. Wish the same could be said about you.

It's sad that Free Urself and If I could get ur attention aren't on the album instead of Screwdriver and Xtraloveable. But perhaps he's saving those songs for a phase 3. I enjoy the new songs I haven't heard, especially When She Comes, Big City and Look at me Look at u. Favorites are of course 2Y2D, Groovy Potential and Revelation. It's overall a very good album, way better than AOA and Hitnrun phase 1 imo

After looking at the track list, this is literally the least excited I've ever been about a new Prince album.

sad

I didnt realise you could purchase the album on Tidal without signing about for a subscrition

Too bad you have to buy the bundle with Phase 1 included.

OH is that why it's $27 for FLAC?! I was like, "Well, good morning! But also...fuck you."

Both for that price is a little more tolerable, but I've already purchased Phase 1. I wouldn't buy it again, even if I did like it. I guess I'll have to hear an unauthorized copy.

Some of the snippets are promising. Look At Me, Look At U sounds really cool. Black Muse and Big City sound awfully similar to me, but a nice sound. I had a feeling 2Y2D would be included, as it's a perfect fit sonically. It will be nice to finally have. When She Comes gives me a Satisfied vibe. Baltimore and RnR work well together. Screwdriver seems like the only odd man out.

--/ If you did not buy them from the Tidal store or when they were avalible elsewhere no everybody does not have them. Realize that Tidal has a million subscribers many of those people are not checking for P and his one off tracks. So it is new to those people.

Black muse, revelation and when she comes are really classic Prince...

Nobody makes songs like that...

Really strong songs there...

Well, what an UN-surprise, Prince trying to get some extra Xmas money. smile))

Smart move ?

Now...
What a mediocre album with loads of filler : SCREWDRIVER ?, ROCKNROLL LOVEAFFAIR ?, EXTRALOVEABLE ? and a few new 'better' tracks.
But thankfully the great Groovy Potential is saved on an album. smile
...

Is this really a NEW Prince album in this very 21st century... let it grow on me first...

Half.

If you count recordings of PA stuff and things played live 9 out of 12 tracks have been heard before in some form. I'll reserve judgement on the whole thing until after I've heard it, but I can't help but be a tad disappointed that there's so much recycled material that we've had for such a long time. Ah well a studio copy of Revelation will be nice at least.

love it. flows well enough for me. went into it thinking 'i'll listen to the new songs now
and check out the whole thing later', but once i pressed play i didn't hit skip at all and
listened to all of it in one sitting.

i can see why people would be unhappy with all the older tracks but i like that they are

now on an album at least, it somehow enhances listening to them for me since i still do

listen to albums more than just individual songs.

the new tracks are all good solid tunes. nice vibe through out. i'm happy smile also love
hearing andy feature on backing for more songs. they sound so good together.

so is there a phase 3 coming, or what? lol

same page, different book / free ursel / if i could get ur attention / ain't gonna miss u
boyfriend / and some more tracks could probably make up phase 3, right ?

i know some of y'all are already fuming at the thought razz

but i don't care, i'd like that lol music

HitNRun phase 2: Another example of Prince's genius.

-

There were a lot of complainers about Phase 1, Josh's hip kid/trendy production.

-

Phase 2 is funk and horns for grown folks.

-

Q: Who could (within a year) release such sonically different albums that are tied together?

-

A: Only Prince.

-

Sure, a lot of these songs are from 2013 or before, but that's kind of the magic, right? Prince is constantly making music of all shapes, sizes, sounds, and colors. Maybe you don't like certain flavors, but he's got truckloads of more icecream for you. Dig?

-

Lastly, whoever is bitching about "having" some of this album already....you cannot have it both ways.

-

Do you want to be a hardcore fan and get his music almost as soon as he makes it? Then, maybe try not to be ungrateful when he does put those songs on an album for mass release/consumption....
