how many copies did his last album sell?! less than 15,000?? Yeah, he's crushing the charts! but let me guess...sales dont matter..right? newsflash..keep releasing shit...all you have is your glory days...because no one is buying the new music...

LOL, and yet he probably pocketed more off HITNRUN than he did LOVESEXY. Made what moved him? check. Made a boatload of cash? check. I think it's all good.

all facts.

With stupid threads like this one (which the mods allow it to stand... is unreal)... I hope Prince will never released remasters... The masters were released on vinyl back in the day.. that's all I have to say.

Let's face facts... Prince's commercial success is weakening year after year... His releases in the last 15+ years have been nothing great... I have been reading allot on Bruce Sprinsteen and how he's been reissuing he classic albums with allot of rarities...

Imagine Prince releasing a Dirty Mind, PR or SOTT with outakes, B sides, videos, live concert that supported the album and maybe even sneak in a few new tracks...

fixing his career doesn't mean selling more old material, it means getting back on the radio.

He has made a small dent in that without even trying. 1000 hugs and kisses is #13 on urban AC radio with no visible promotion. Make a video, go perform on talk shows and push it up the charts and get it played on other formats.

all things Prince cant and wont do....

he announces a new tour that is already stirring talk and people are still making threads about him putting out 30 year old music. there's nothing to fix as nothing is wrong with his career. it's exactly where he always wanted it to be...him in complete control doing what he wants when he wants. if that isn't the ultimate goal in the music industry, idk what is.

but wont he be performing that 30 year old music?

WTF is there to fix?

the man is a self made boss (for a long time), enjoying the twilight of his unmatched, illustrious career...i would never be so ungrateful, as to suggest he needs to fix something... he's given us decades of classic unforgettable music and film...i appreciate all that shit...whatever he has left in the tank, is just extra gifts and gravy...

He releases three albums with one older song on one of them, plus IICGYA -- that's not releasing "so much old music lately".

I've got an idea to fix Prince's career:
.

Let's have him employ less personnel and ask higher ticket prices to compensate.

.

Yes, right, that is exactly what is supposed to happen real soon.

I think the idea of whether or not his career needs "fixing" is a matter of perspective, his. If his idea of where he wants his career right now is to have commercially successful and realitive material, then yea, it needs fixing. But what kind of "wonder" song would he need to come up with for the younger audience to really get excited about from a 57 year old guy? Plus, it seems very obvious that there is a "machine" that in many cases decides what is going to be in heavy rotation. Thats why we get Taylor Swift or Drake or now Adele every half hour on the radio. But Prince doesn't really fit that mold or is willing to bow down that much for that to even be possible.

If his goal is to just make money and as some have stated here, he made a boat load off of HnR, then I guess mission accomplished P. Combine that with a possible piano only in small venue tour along with predicted high prices, again, cha ching.

If his goal is to make what he feels is music from within his heart and soul no matter what is commercially relative, then again, I think fixing is in order. The last time I saw that was probably Lotus Flower, kinda, but really TRC. I know many were truned off due to the strong religious themes, but this was certainly a CD where he utilized his creativity and challenged our ears knowing full well that this had zero chance of commercial appeal, but he knew it was musically sound and he could be proud of it. With AOA and HnR, I feel he was chasing something and not just saying "I'm Prince and here is new music I am proud of and I think will challenge the status quo". Instead we got Josh with a new toy and wanted to demonstrate how many different sounds and effects it has and just maybe there is a song or two that might be decent.

So again, the question of fixing is really his to answer, especially on a musical tip. From a PR perspective, yea, I would love if Prince would have enjoyed his celebrity a bit more when it comes to ordinary people. I know he has enjoyed it when it comes to getting into celeb parties and all that, but being a bit more receptive and not so aloof with his fans would certainly be something a would like to have fixed.

Given that you get a percentage on sales I understand your heavy concern about the album's sales. I'm really sorry, I hope you make more money with the next one nod

The only thing that would restore his status after two decades of excessive mediocrity would be to focus on his back catalog. Re-issueing all his classic albums remastered with relevant bonus material. Not going to happen. I think what Prince is truly bitter about is not having any hit singles for nearly 20 years. He has tried using his old sound (replete with Linn drum), more of a current sound and even experimental sounds but no hits. The only songs that get any airplay are his slow jams on Urban AC radio (small radio genre)

"Rave Un2 The Joy" was supposed to be his triumphant return to the charts. As was "Musicology" and definitely "3121". "Black Sweat" was supposed to be a smash. He's already had his "comeback" following his Grammy perfomance with Beyonce and the successful albums that followed but he has gone into terrible slump made worse by his bad public image. His schtick is just so effin tired.
