^ In Skipper's defense, he did readjust his aim quite fast.

The Love Symbol was the beginning of the second best part of his career.
Heck, I don't feel like comparing the eighties with the nineties.

It's a complete reinvention, it's a conscious decision to avoid any composition or production trick
that may remotely sound as something made with the Revolution.

He really shelved the Linn for a while, and plugged his axe into some Marshalls.
The paranoid attitude, Paisley Park slowly turning into Xanadu,
everything about it is brilliant because it was half-intended and half-accident.

But I have to admit.
There's one thing with Skipper.
No matter how hard the nervous breakdown,
the guy will be up at 5.00 in the studio.

And I judge GB to Prince standards.
If I consider it against what was selling at the time,
I would say it's pretty close to a pop masterpiece.
Guests tracks included.

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose
Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams

How strange, I just put this album on at work today, which I basically never do.

A big problem with this movie is the whole 'fantasy' vibe saps it of any sense of jeopardy. Like, did anybody really think that, if The Kid loses the Glam Slam, he's gonna have to go work at McDonald's to make ends meet? Hell naw, he'd just ride around on a magically always-full tank of gas, pouting and brooding in the dark and flipping his hair around.

If this film had been direct-to-video like 3 Chains o' Gold, it would have been held to a lower standard and I bet everyone would've hated it a lot less (and the critics would have never been aware of it).

Still the most diappointing moviegoing experience of my life. It was so bad I was embarassed to have taken my girlfriend to it. It was at the height of my Prince fandom. I tried to watch it a second time on home video and even that was like torture. Just a horrendous movie. I had to watch SOTT concert VHS five times straight to get those hideous images out of my brain.
