I didn't know that Under the Cherry Moon was a bad movie until I got on the internet.

I mean, I knew the critics didn't like it, but they hated everything I liked back then.

My friends and I all thought that movie was the bomb (and I still do).

It's a bomb all right. As film makers go, Prince is a hell of a musician.

I think I have a few more.

"Dance On" and "Positivity" are two of my favorite songs from Lovesexy. "Empty Room" is boring. "Dreamer" is an embarrassing Hendrix rip off. I like the third eye sunglasses.

Overall I think D&P was a horrible album. Yeah, I listened to it alot back then but it's corny as fuck to me. (Do love me some Strollin' though!)

you think Diamonds and Pearls is too corny and "Strollin" is the hill you choose to die on with that record? It's the goofiest, corniest song on the album, including "Jughead". Speaking of Jughead, if that song were an instrumental it would destroy. It gets way too much hate.

I prefer the new, slowed down version of Little Red Corvette to the original.

(By a wide margin, I should add.)

I've thought long and hard and I can't find anything that I like that's potentially embarrassing.

Of course Violet won't agree.

Horny Pony is goofy and fun!

He had already used the 'horny pony' concept in 1988,on the Lovesexy album ("you jerk your body like a horny pony would") and on the Black Album ("up and down,up and down, like a pony would").I thought it was disappointing to see him recycling that same idea several years later.Plus, the song is an obvious throwaway lol Furthermore,do we really wanna envision what a pony does when it's horny?! LOL

Prince saw his first horse with an erection in 1987. It took him by surprise and he obsessed over it for a couple of years. You should Google it, it is well documented.

Prince is secretly a Brony.
For those who don't know what that is, urban dictionary it. You're welcome.
As for my most embarrassing Prince fan moment...I once filmed myself with a fake beard I drew on in eyeshadow dancing to the song Graffiti Bridge. It's on YouTube but it's on private. I sent it to my friends when they are down in the dumps lol

And before anyone asks no I'm not linking it here lmao it's a cringefest and a half.

hahaha. I know, it defies all logic! Seriously though, Strolling' just seems to have an air of.... I guess honesty would be the word. No boasting, no bragging, no "I'm a sex machine" or "I'm a guitar rock god" posturing, just a simple song about having an easy going day......

NPS is the album that solidified my Prince fandom.

I'll listen to any track all the way through one I find out he ends it with screams, squeals, etc.

I really don't understand why Emancipation discs 1 & 3 exist. Disc 2 as a standalone is one of Prince's most powerful and focused efforts.

I'm not that crazy about the song "Purple Rain".Like someone else said,it works well in the movie, but I don't listen to it anywhere else.I never liked big arena rock ballads....those bore me.It's too long and overblown.

Hmmm, I love Emancipation but disc 2 isn't without its flaws. Emale, Lets Have A Baby and Sex In The Summer are all filler imo.

Seriously, what would a Prince project be without the flaws? eek The flaws are what give me an air of superiority over his creative direction, which gives this longstanding relationship its balance.
cool

And anyone who would seriously consider buying a full Tony M album, please let it be known. It would save me the heartache of even attempting to be your friend.

I'm a big Tony M fan. Often quote him when I'm drunk. 'Put your hands in the air this is a motherfucking party' and 'Step to the mic and taste the hype' my top 2

Y'all should dig my sig then cool .

This is my habitual response to all those Spooky Electrics and Elevators out there, who try to put us down -

'The funkier I be
The funkier I get, oh shit
Lickety split on the lyric
A new jack in the pulpit
Watch it deacon, your track is leakin'
What is this u're seekin'?
The syncopated rhymes are at their peak
When you jumped on my D.I.C.K.
That's the one thing that I don't play
The jock strap was 2 big 4 u anyway
U're just a simpleton
I'll bust u like a pimple, son
My star is 2 bright
Boy, I'll sink u like the ship Poseidon Adventure
U're bumpin' dentures 2 be cocksure
There must be more coming from
Your mouth than manure.
So with a flow and a spray, I say hey
U must become a prince before u're king anyway'

Now if that ain't poetry ... lol

When he says "the syncopated rhymes are at their peak/when"'I always hear "the syncopated rhythm of the penguin". To this day I maintain that a). The Syncopated Rhythm of the Penguin is a metaphysical concept that has inspired all of Tony M's music, and b). that somewhere deep in the vault is the recording of a 25-minute Prince and Tony M freestyle rap battle, of which penguins and their syncopated rhythms are the only subject. I'm not joking.

OT: I don't think Prince is substantially worse as a songwriter than he was in the 80s. Far less daring and innovative, sure, but no less capable of doing what he's already good at.

Of course, whether he should stick to what he knows or try to do something completely out of his comfort zone is a different matter.
