I'm loving it much more, I'm digging it a lot and I think that it would have been a good disc 2 for AoA.
Anyway it's clear that it's not a great album, very far from that, but, to be honest, I don't care, I like to listen new Prince music even if it's not good as it could be.

Now I'm just hoping that he'll Hit, very hard, 3EG 'n' he'll Run very far from all of them, Joshua included.

I like it even more. I can't explain why -- especially as an 80's-era Prince freak like so many of us are. Prince+Josh has given us some really nice tracks that I don't see happening with Prince on his own, as his usual Mr. Do Everything self.

I think many of us (including myself) still expect too much from Prince, considering how damn prolific he's been over the decades. I'm just trying to add some perspective here. So I'm thankful for the 2-3 strong tracks on AOA and HnR. And then songs like Stare. Prince is clearly having a good time with Josh on board. At this point I'll take the good with the not-so-good.

That being said: For the love of all that is holy, Prince please give us the Purple Rain remasters+. foodnow

he won't be able to see you in the front row as he sits behind his keyboard

triggering all these loops, samples and fx giggle

however, i need a live version of HARDROCKLOVER in my life where he just

plays guitar so loud the walls crack love

i could also see "june" working rather well as a piano ballad.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Still underwhelmed. Can't stand most of the tracks but like Hardrocklover and 1000 hugs and kisses.

I've listened to the album once from beginning to end, as I do with all albums, and I like it.

It's just nice to see him collaborate with someone else much younger and less experienced for a few unpretentious dance tracks to are the opposite of those "Homage to My Legacy" albums he's been issuing post TRC.

Prince most likely decided he was trying to please his old fan base too much for too long, and after 20TEN got such an unceremonious release, it was time to shake things up and somewhat part with his old ways, at least for a while.

In business terms, this happens all the time. Organizations decide to do away with the rule book, hire hundreds of 20 and 30 years old, retire the older staff. Transformational, that's what they call it.

There are usually quite a few hiccups along the way, but it's cyclically necessary.

Good points. And yes, these new albums are a 180 from 20TEN. I like 20TEN, but it sounds a little "stale" (for lack of a better word) compared to his more recent output -- including the non-Josh heavy songs like Time and 1000 X'S & O'S.

He also wrote Ronnie talk to Russia which is also mindless fun, lots of noisy sounds, silly lyrics and short. smile

haha, one song, which practically sounds avant garde by comparison! Fair point though.

I see this album as up there with Child of the Sun, although it can't be explained away as easily...

After ten days......

..

What I can save from this are the last 3 tracks.

I'm looking at those 3 tracks as an appendix to AOA, like a small E.P.

In that way I like it.

...

As an "album", my thinking has not changed: in my book is the less appealing P album.

....

AOA is better than 20TEN in the same distance that HNR is worst than 20TEN.

Sorry, better to specify.... when I'm talking of "last 3 tracks" I was referring to HardRockLover+100Hugs+June.

.

Only now I remembered that between HRL and 100 Hugs there is that disgrace named "Mr.Nelson".

Still blown the hell away from start to finish! Can't stop jammin' it! In fact, I've kept AOA, Pleccy and HNR on constant rotation....three awesome albums, indeed. HNR and AOA are especially remarkable. Hopefully Joshua and Prince will be working together for many years to come.

About the same, which is very much, just an excellent album really, the best in fact. It reminds me of when FLA began to incorporate dubstep sounds into their work, it really revitalized them, and provided us with a sleek modern veneer. I can finally put it on the shelf to cover the woeful Planet Earth, man, this is so much better than that boring old fart music he's been making for the last few years and that abhorrent tripe with 3rdeyegonegirl. First album of his I've bought in awhile.

music I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. music

After two weeks, I like it quite a bit. I don't cherish anything on it except Hardrocklover, but there's enough here to make this a better experience for me than Planet Earth, 20TEN, even 3121, which I feel were treating his style like a sacred cow. Now it's the exact opposite, the release is so irreverential of his legacy but if works well as a AOA bonus CD.

The problem now could be that maybe he'll bail out of the two other phases given the extra poor performance of this phase. Let's hope not because this is really a protégé album, he slapped his name on it but people are treating it as an actual Prince album -- not surprising.

I was pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing at first, but now I really like it.

I don't like the first track at all, and "Mr. Nelson" and the TCBU remix really are unnecessary -

but as a while, I think it's a fun little album smile

I am still surprised how much I like this. After a week I like it even more. Very fun with tons of energy. I love every song. I was cold on This Coul Be Us remix and Hardrocklover... But love them on here. Prince sounds fresh and happy...now just waiting for Judith Hills record!

I like it much more.

After one listen I didn't like it but, after a few more listens I started to see past the EDM styling (which is really not my cup of tea) and found myself liking it I like it quite a lot.
