I took it at the time as being somewhat more positive than the rather conservative sounding original lyric (it kinda sounded like he was accusing gay people of "hijacking" the word when he said "happy ain't allowed", and it couldn't be applied "normally" anymore). "Happy and you're proud" sounds almost supportive, or at least less negative.

whatever gave you that idea? in the original he says "he's gay, used to mean he's happy,
nowadays happy ain't allowed", the second part of which is accented by army marching

sounds and a man yelling "homo", which clearly implies that the army is in the wrong for

discriminating against lgbt personell. at least that's how i always heard it smile

Yup, that's how I always interpreted the original as well..."Don't ask, don't tell" was all the rage at the time in the U.S. Armed Forces. One of those rare instances where the cheesy sound effects of the mid-90s actually complemented the song. I'm quite pleased that he changed the lyric back to something that's positive towards gay rights once again. I can't remember what he was singing back around the London O2 shows (I think that's when I heard it?) but I recall it being somewhat ambiguous but also seemingly homophobic. Or maybe he just changed it so there was no indication of being supportive of gay rights, which I would have interpreted as homophobia as well. His whole tone throughout this show is so calm, and peaceful, and loving. This is the Prince I love.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected.

I was very disappointed from the tidal concert I hear online and the baltimore single too.

But this short live is another world. It remind me the Undertaker "live in the house" and the Small Club extravaganza in some part. I prefer the instrumental moments (I find his voice flat, expecially in chaos & disorder imho), but the general vibe is very interesting. I feel this as one of his best "official" live release, as the instrumentals in one of the last ahdio shows (question of u, curting time... if you remember) and the recent Octopus Heart, one of my favorite.

Well nice surprise, in loop.

I was wondering that too. One of my friends thought it was a copyright issue, but then why wouldn't Whole of the Moon have the same issue? I would lose it if they released the show from April 19th for WOW, Revelation, and As Trains Go By. pray beg

eek I'm sort of with you regarding the song choices...out of the entire catalogue I hate the ones he chose, but It's just one show, and I still think he's a top notch performer, and I do appreciate that in the musicianship.

Love what I've heard of this so far... it does sound reminiscent of the '93-'95 era stuff, which is no bad thing in my book... this is going to make an excellent addition to teh Art Official Age: Deluxe Edition in my iTunes!

Also, to be clear, in the original Chaos And Disorder, the lyrics are very much pro-liberal. I never heard them as anti-gay and I'm surprised anyone else has...

'happy ain't allowed' means 'gay is not allowed'... being happy about someone being gay, i.e. supporting someone being gay is not allowed....

the latest lyric change is also pro-liberal/pro-gay... just a little more obvious.

Choas & Disorder 3EG Concert

Carjacks, use to mend flat tires

Cadillac, use to be the Benz

Big Joint, never got you higher

(I) Said it all, said it all, said it all

Cost you in the end

Mineapolis,

I'm just a no-named reporter

Looking for something to say

Looking through my new camcorder

All I see is crime that pays

People hit by mortars

Everywhere you go there's loitering

Chaos & disorder, ruling this world today

He's gay, use to mean he's happy

Now days, happy & you're proud

Back in the day, dance with that brother

In some states, it just wasn't allowed

I'm just a no named reporter

Looking for something to say

Looking through my new camcorder

trying to find a crime that pays

People hit by mortars

Everywhere you go there's loitering

Chaos & disorder ruling your world today

Say, Donna, help me right here

Guitar solo

oh

No name reporter, hit by mortar,

everywhere you go

Chaos & disorder

mineapolis make noise

Thanks for the HELP!

btw, I never once thought the lyrics of the song were anti-gay 'He's gay use to mean he's happy, nowadays happy ain't allowed' that always seems to me his observation of the world, not him saying it shouldn't be allowed. It seems pretty clearly pro-gay all the way, not sure why it would be perceived anyother way?

Walking into the concert hall as the band kicked into "Wow!" was one of my favorite moments as a Prince fan, especially since I had no clue if Prince would even be performing. That whole set was great honestly. Full of songs I've never seen live. Short but well worth the 30 dollars.

As far as the lyric about drugs goes, I hear it as "(I) said it all, said it all, said it all costs you in the end," which to me is a more anti-drug statement than in the original, where he essentially said the marijuana is okay but coke is a problem. Just my thoughts.

i know, right? but look at the responses for the other threads:

baltimore song thread: 500 responses
tidal stream of show: 800 responses

about 70% negative bitching or back and forth between a few people
trying to out-troll each other lol

now that prince streams another show, for free, with a cool selection

of songs, they simply don't bother to comment. because they would

have to say something nice.

well, I'm allowed to not lke the song selection, while still respecting the artist... He busted out The One/Question of U in Baltimore and i thought WOW Now those are some jams!!! Just not a fan of the ones he played in Minni...
