Batman as an album was way below the level of other albums of the 80s.

And still it got one the greatest partyjam of the decade, fucking Partyman! My god, I love Batman. Except Lemoncrush and Arms of Orion

Batman blew my mind as an 11-year-old kid and represents when I started truly becoming a Prince fan. So I can't help loving every song on the album. Except for Arms of Orion, because fuck that bullshit.

I agree. When it first came out and I was a teen, the song freaked me out a wee bit but with time, I grew to better appreciate the vocal performance.

His batting average was aces in his heyday. He could toss off songs left and right, and then spin off other songs from those songs, amazing artist in action. I still look forward to what he comes up with, even though the batting average isn't what it once was. I hope we hear new stuff this year, and new releases of 80s material as well.

Prince - Still waiting (perhaps). But this album is awesome. This has usually been on my "cant be bothered to listen to" list, but recently I revisited it and it really is a very very good album. Sexy Dancer is funk. No ifs and buts. Pure funk.

Automatic

Housequake

Them's the ones I really don't like on albums and always get skipped. The 'meh' list is quite extensive, I better not go there for fear of my org safety lol.

There are also a lot of boots which aren't very good and I can fully see why they're in the vault still.

As far as I'm concerned Prince hasn't lost it. He still releases plenty of great tracks for me as well as the occasional stinker and plenty of take them or leave them tracks.

RIP sad

It's a pretty good song, in my opinion, up until he ruins the charm of its subtlety by flat-out saying that the song is about sex.

Other bad songs:

Temptation becomes utterly stupid at the end. It's bad comedy.

Arms of Orion is one of the most painfully bad ballads ever written.

God, as others have noted, is self-indulgent and annoying.

Sister is way over the top. I just can't get into incestuous themes.

Ronnie, Talk to Russia is juvenile and descends into comedy.

Around the World in a Day is tedious.

Dance On is too repetitive and overproduced.

And...from an entire decade, that's all I can come up with. Wow, the 80's really were amazing.

The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

no BAD songs in the '80s, sure there were some wtf songs, some lightweight songs and some failed experiments, but disasters or trash? NOPE; even Lemon Crush works as a dance-rock jam

The beat is knocking, but I agree, it, slow love and beautiful night are the weaker jams on an otherwise nearly flawless effort. The last 2 kill live tho headbang.
