Well, I got 2 out of 3 songs right, that I mentioned he might play. dancing jig Was happy to hear 'Plectrumelectrum' and 'Another Love.' Prince and Donna play well together. Was cool to see Liv Warfield in the background, and Lianna wasn't bad either.
Will people here finally get her name right? It's LIANNE.

Wasn't that Shelby with the tamborine?

One of my predictions came true!

Hatrina, I can always count on you to do exactly what you always do.

Now, about the show: Clouds and Another Love? Thank you for a fun set the naysayers said wouldn't happen.

Say whatever you will about me but other people without their heads stuck up Prince's ass are talking about it and it's nothing nice. shrug

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Dull performance. It wasn't 'bad' but just... dull, servicable, okay. 3rdEyeGirl have run their course. I don't know why he has kept this band so long, it's not like him. Of all the bands he chooses to keep he goes with this? neutral His afro looked terrible, you could see right through it.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

I don't think so, it appeared to be Liv. Guess I'll find out if another person confirms it.

Nothing was wrong with the performance. Too many people on this board have decided that hate this band and the want the Revolution to come back

I couldn't care less about the Revolution and I love AOA unreservedly, and much of PE. But the performance was incredibly sloppy and flat.

Whatever I am not sure what you were looking for and I am not sure you know either.

They had most of 3rd Eye Girl at the end saying thank you with Chris Rock. Joshua was there, too, just behind his wife Hannah.

I didn't see Donna, though.

Chris shouted out Lianne by name, at the end.

I don't think any one is claiming to be an "expert"... but we all have our own ideas of what is great and what is good.. (and what sucks) Personally I think the Revolution Sucked.. and I think 3rd Eye Girl sucks.. I am more of an NPG fan.. like from 87-99 those times.. The band was hot, funky, fresh and likable..

I am a long LONG time Prince fan.. A really big fan.. but I do not have to like every single thing he does.. and this was just "blah" as some said... and the Fro does look totally stupid on a man of his age.. He is SO cute... he needs to go back to a more sexy/mature style..

I agree with some one who said tho- that it was sorta sloppy and cramped.. its just not the way a Prince performance should be...

For those of you who liked it.. I am glad.. for those of you who didn't.. I agree..

I thought his treatment of Clouds was seriously lacking. That song deserves better. Didn't remote,y compare to studio version

The 3rd eye girl songs were Ok

Prince is just getting old and fighting it...but it's catching up to him

His fro looked ridiculous. P just doesn't look good anymore

i will say it again...his treatment of Clouds was just bad. I'm not sure those girls can play that song anyhow.

I played clouds tonight for a couple of my boys who know I loved P back in the day. They were blown away by the start of the song. Blown away. I said nothing as I watched their heads bob and both them say damn as the bass and beat filled in. Clouds is a fantastic R&B song. Prince performed it like ho hum. That's too bad

I'm officially over this dude. He has no idea who he is

My expectations were much higher...a good performance but definitely not his best.

Started strong with Clouds, kind of lost me with PE and Marz

Then finished well with Another Love.

By the way...Chris Rock needs to work on his acting and reading cue cards. I actually sat thru the whole show and the endless commercials...and I might go gouge my eyes out. Seriously I'd rather watch old people take a shit on my front door step.

I never thought it would be possible, but I think I'm kind of over Prince also. There was a time when I would have been waiting anxiously by the TV all day, knowing that he would be on it, ready to record and save his performance to watch over and over again, but I wasn't interested enough to even watch tonight. bored

Yeah I understand. Don't get me wrong the performance wasn't awful you just expect more from Prince. He's playing with these amateur musicians. He ignores his strongest work in an effort to promote was clearly is a lesser album. Honestly I can't get past the way he just trotted out and played Clouds like that. That was bad. The songs he played from Plectrum were ok after that. Not sure why he felt he needed to p,at the Mikky Ds song but as Prince has often said...it's his journey

The problem is fewer and fewer people are willing to travel with him these days

I am now fully convinced that AOA is not being promoted because of him

Ok you disagree great. Who cares if he changed the format? He didn't deliver the goods. He has to deliver

It was an opportunity to nail it and he failed miserably

I dvr'd it, since I was sleep. I hadn't watched it yet, so I figure I'll stop here first to get the gist on what songs he performed, and how was the performance. Reading many of the comments in this thread, basically comfirmed what I figured. I'll happliy still play 80's Prince...but....wake me when Purple Rain Remaster is released. Peace N Love Peeps. smile
