AOA is the first Prince album in ages that I can listen to all the way through without wanting to skip a single track. It's amazing.

DFUNK

I wonder what has happened to the supposed "menacing rap song" Prince recorded with Rita Ora that has been talked about recently. According to media reports over the last couple of months, I thought this track was supposed to be included on the AOA album.

If Prince really wanted to take the charts by storm, a single with a currently "in" star like Rita Ora, complete with a proper video clip would certainly be one way to do it.

Agree. Even the songs I'm not all 'bout it 'bout it with, like breakdown...I can still work with and not hit skip. All the songs have redeemable qualities, or purposes...like u, that hasn't happened for me in a while.

Actually, I hear you. Forget about the bashing the Org tried to dish on you for saying this. Prince finally won over the Org... the same Org that hated 'The Rainbow Children', 'Planet Earth', and 'Lotusflow3r'. I like the album, but there are only really three uptempo tracks, with a few great slow to mid-tempo cuts. Being an old school Prince nut from way back, I'm still going to give it a few more listens, but I can't foresee wearing the grooves out, like I did with other albums. I think I must have played the 'Lotusflow3r' album about a hundred times, and it is timeless. I don't think his motive is longevity with this album. The biggest grower on this album is 'UKnow'. I do reserve the right to change my mind about this album, and I see how he's morphing some classic Prince elements with current music production, but the hype here only shows that he played the Org perfectly... starve them for long enough, and they'll eat it all up.

I can dig that, but I think the only song on 'MPLsound' that I skipped was the first track... 'Never B Another Like Me'. On 'Lotusflow3r', I didn't skip any songs. On 'Planet Earth', I HAD to skip 'Mr. Goodnight'. On this album, I skip over 'Breakfast Can Wait'.

People, please. Stop bullying this person for strongly stating their opinion. Is this the first Orger to say something negative about this album? NO. Now carry on.

U honestly believe people are upset with the youngin's view on a Prince album? Hell, it would be much more easier to take up for her if that were the case...The truth is there have been folks on this board that have said A LOT worse about Prince's music...lol

But that's not what's happening here....It's obvious people are responding to the personal insults from the young homie targeting Orgers who happen to like AOA....

When u start posting stuff like, (paraphrasing) "I hope I never get like u old mufuckas and like this bullshit..." that's far from saying u think AOA is a shit album....

Take up for those outspoken people on the Org who deserve it....Not for someone who calls someone lame for liking AOA and THEN ranks Lotus ahead of albums like 1999....lol

I agree! Definitely has a lot more personality than 20TEN, or, for that matter, most of his albums since (at LEAST) Rainbow Children.

Ill agree with that. I'm a sucker for Musicology and 3121 though.

Way Back Home is messing me up emotionally. On the strength of that one song, I'll be picking up AOA. The first time in a long time that I've felt a connection to a Prince song.

I like those albums too, I honestly don't see why people are so hostile toward Musicology. It's not Classic but it's a solid, organic album.

That being said, AOA is a FAAAAR stronger effort in my opinion. To an extent, it is what a lot of people wanted for a long time; Prince being lucid, experimental and playing with new sounds. I was honestly surprised by this album. Even the throwaway tracks are pretty strong. biggrin

Personally,

I like Art Official Age. I think it's well put together. I wish there were some more uptempo tracks on it. But I can deal with it as it is. I do think that The gold standard just ended wrong. It feels like something is missing. I am however going to Add Fallinluv2nite and Groovy potential to the playlist.

Plectrum Electrum, I have listened to only 1x. IDK maybe the mood I am in right now is for Funk, and not Rock. However, with that being said I am going to give it a few more 'true' listens before making judgement. I do know that I can't stand pretzlebodylogic. I just never liked it. But WHITECAPS is on point.
