Hey, thedance, have you tried showing your Sir Nose-friends the R&R Hall of Fame clip? If after that, they still don't get it, then they're bound to live forever in the Zone of Zero Funkativity. Too bad...

Yeah, THAT one gets everybody!! (Everybody with good tastes, that is)

I don't have this problem of defending Prince to non-fans, because:

- I really don't care, or lose sleep over, what other people think

- I often have a lower opinion of the music they like than they do of Prince

- If they really want to debate, I can prove Prince is better than their favs with science

Ok, I obviously can't "prove" anything, but I can make a damn good case and certainly a better case than they will make about their favorite.

If we all liked the same music, movies, books, food, etc... Life. Would. Be. Boring. And so would we.

Like what you like, love what you love, and be proud to tell anyone your opinions. Real friends can deal, assholes that can't should be avoided.

That's logic. It'll help ya!! wink

Wear your freak flag high! headbang

I'm really incapable to enjoy something that anybody else likes, I don't know why. The day the whole world become Prince's fan, I'm probably out lol

Are you a hipster? biggrin Cuz, ya know, that's what a hipster would do...

cool

I never understood what a hipster is, I think I just have social issues lol

I thought "Happy" by Pharrell was fun until it was all over the radio and everybody sings it and make videos of it, then I wanted to punch him in the face for even making that song.

But then again, maybe that's because it's a (former) Beatle song!

I don't think it's the song, but rather the performance... wink

Ok I am a fan since 83, back when Prince was a major force:

today, I am on facebook and here, and everything is fine.

However all the people I know in real life thinks Prince is a weirdo, a has-been.

Whenever I say Prince is still making music, he's a great musician, etc... then I am meeting SILENCE, or they are laughing. Isn't that called "indulgence" in english?

No one I know in real life would ever consider to buy a song by Prince.

Before you say, get some other friends.... I will defend them.. they are nice people.

But Prince is really out of touch with the general public, imo.

Shouldn't we be a bit "worried" about that: Prince's impact is gone, the impact on a broader audience.

I just wish Prince would have some success on the music scene again. Art Official Age, lets' hope for a minor success, right?

Then maybe it wouldn't be so hard to be a fan, maybe people would stop laughing at you, then.

What do you think?

Prince is still a pretty big live performer. Those are real people filling up venues and spending real money to see him. How come everyone going to see him in concert is having a good time?

I haven't cared about what people said about the music I listen to since high school. I only care if someone's changing music and they're in my home or car and do it without asking.

Of course we're hoping he sells a lot, that's a given we want to see him go #1.
