Yeah, who would expect that a bunch of sycophants who were nuts enough to travel to somewhere in the middle of nowhere would proclaim this the best thing ever?

Lol... just because people say it is the best thing ever on camera, don't mean they actually think this way. I think that hardcore fans will always want to speak positively about their favs even though they might not like what they hear. That's sadly how the record industry works nowadays and has for a while ;D... Artists don't like to hear a critical point of view because they think they're haters or not as pleasant as a fan that adores them lol... In today's fan world, you ether have to love everything or else you're somewhat of a hater/ stuck in the past...

I've really liked Evertyhing from this album so far and have been looking forward to it.

It is now becoming tiresome.

They have an album listening party and don't play the whole album, wtf is that all about. it sounds as if it's not yet Been decided what will be on it.

No Tictactoe or funk roll?

No release date or even any indication?

This seemed like a pointless excercise.

True. They probably felt they'd been given a second-rate Pat Benatar album. What are they gonna do with that?

Prince, get that session musician off lead vocals and start owning your own work.

This is not Prince's album for WB. The WB album is a solo project with songs such as 'The Breakdown' and 'This Could Be Us'. This is the 3RDEYEGIRL group album, which at one time had Kobalt as its distributor.

All you know is rumor. Neither album could ever be released for all you know.

I can confirm since I was in the room.
They seemed equally confused around if and when it will come out.
They were equally confused when pressed for what else is on the album.

This was Plectrum Electrum. Questions asked

1) What else is on PE? "Dunno. You will find out"

2) How many songs will be on it? "Ida said 11-12"

3) Is Funkn Roll on PE? "Josh smiled and said dunno"

4) How did this recording come together? "Just jamming in the studio together...live without much overdubs to get organic feel"

5) When will this be released? "Don't know."

.

LMAO. Yeah Prince, sure sounds like Warners are the problem when it comes to releasing new music.

Bart--

I just got done reading a post where you said there was "no way WB will allow P to release anything outside of their deal." So it sounds like (again, according to you, at least some of the time) Warners is a problem when it comes to releasing new music.

Obviously, WB would not be the reason it didn't come out some time over the last year, when there was no deal in place.

Alright, just woke up.

All told, there were maybe 100 people at Paisley Park last night (most were setup at the stage as if Prince was performing). Yes, there was both a pool table and a ping pong table.

I was tapped by IDA to be part of the first group of 15 to go into Studio B to hear the new music.

The 3rd eye girls were very nice and accomodating on the questions related to the music, their life, etc... Josh Welton was holding down fort at the master console (and yes, Prince's microphone was next to us). All 15 of us were sitting near the console on couches. Lianne La Havas was in the room listening until Prince called her up to his apartment on the second floor.

The music...

1) Unexpected Wow (Prince's solo version of the same song released by Liv...amazing).

2) Pretzelbodylogic (blah)

3) White Caps (Very good duet with Hannah and Prince about love being lost after 15 minutes away from her, seeing the white caps on the ocean).

4) Plectrum Electrum instrumental (Written by Donna "arranged by Prince")

5) New Hannah song (no Prince vox)

And then the REAL fun began...

Prince debuted his new masterpiece that we can only assume is on the Prince record.

It's called "Another Love" which is a combination of Gold/Holy River about losing his woman and the pain to get back even keel in live.

Was amazing time. Thanks to the 3rd eye girls for making us feel welcome last night.

Tolly C

Looks like that La Havas girl now fully under Prince control too. She's veering very close to protege territory. Better stop loitering around the Park if she wants any kind of career.

Confusion seems to be the order of the day doesn't it? As for the music. Who cares? Most of what they heard is out there, and the new stuff has been given to a session drummer who sounds like a second rate Pat Benatar. Another Prince failure. When will it ever end?

As I mentioned above, it's really tough because they only played 5 songs to which we have heard two of them (pretzel and plectrum).
If the rest of the album is consistent with that sound, it will make for a nice organic sounding album (no cowbells and over production).

White caps was a pretty cool mid tempo rocker as a duet with Hannah.
And Hannah only song was kinda blah...

The true prince song "another love was money.

They signed the deal with him after he'd been promoting said album for over a year (including supposed singles from it with non-Prince lead vocals)... so it's their own fault if they have a problem. He didn't spring this on them.

.

.

3EG wont have been part of the WB deal, Prince is signed as a solo artists, 3EG are a group so its up to Warner if they want to put it out or not, and they could technically sign it to a different label (They are still listed on Kobal's Roster too, which I think if they wasnt with them they would have been told to remove them from the site)

Finally, a real account of what actually happened after wading through irrelevant stuff. Thanks!

i went with my friend, and it was fun. there was a dance party (yes we were watching nemo!) in the L4OA room, then the crowd of us, about 150 people total? all segued into the large/soundstage room. the stage was set up, so my friend (unfamiliar with the mysterious ways of prince & co. smile was hoping we'd have a live set from prince himself.

but no. and right around the time we became aware that there were smaller groups being let in to the listening party her curfew was up and i was her ride so we had to go. i didn't hear the new album. was hoping they'd play it in the soundstage area, beause i'm really interested in this project, but maybe next time.

on another note, i think i clipped someone's car on the way out. i couldn't see if there was damage in the dark. this is sort of embarrassing, but if you didn't get the note i left for you on your windshield ORGnote me! i called the police to file a report, so just let me know where to send the insurance info. i'm really sorry!!!!!!

Prince was in the building, but communicated to fans via speakerphone. For some reason Finding Nemo was again being shown. Why not put Graffiti Bridge on in the background, for a change, that might be fun. Perhaps it's time for another pajama party at Paisley. bawl

Sigh I'm smh at all the tracks with Hannah on lead. She's a good drummer but not sure about her voice. I'll have to check out the album once it's released. I'm lowkey ready for the next era to start though.

I'm excited to hear the Prince track "Another Love". I love the way he pours his heart out into his writing during and following his (many) relationships (wonder who inspired this one? Andy? Chelsea? who knows...but I'm excited!!). I hope P hosts some listening parties out here in LA open to the public so I can attend.

Unfortunately, but not unexpected, this isn't going to be the next "great" Prince album. Hannah does not have a good singing voice, listen to Live Out Loud as reference. If he thought these songs were great, he would have been playing them live on tour in the UK to build up some excitement for the release. I think these people raving about last night are just caught up in the fact that they were able to go into the studio at Paisley Park.

I'm pretty sure Warner Brothers has nothing to do with this album, as it wasn't mentioned when the deal was announced. It's kind of funny how Prince was complaining in an interview recently how long it takes for an album to be released and that the songs are old by the time it comes out, but it seems like he's the one holding this up. You can't convince me that an artist like Liv Warfield can release a CD and Prince can't!

I know everyone wants details about these new songs, but it's kind of hard to describe them after one or two listens. You all know how PRETZELBODYLOGIC sounds, with the horrible intro. I like the lyrics and music, but that little chant ruins the song. Go with that!

That's possible that they wait until after PR remasters and solo album, but wouldn't it then make sense if he played the new solo album at the listening parties and some songs from it at the concerts? Ay the moment he isn't promoting his new prince album at all. To me it seems like he wants PE out first and I don't think wb are happy about that

See? Your attitude is consistently "Let's see how big of an asshole I can be this time". You've: (1) totally discounted the comments of individuals who were actually there; (2) assumed no one that went already lives in Minneapolis; and (3) called anyone that went a "synchophant" even though you have never met a single one of them.

Were you mistreated as a child?
