I completely agree with what's highlighted. As far as production goes, the 3rdeyegirl stuff sounds amazing... the Prince stuff, not so much.

Let me guess, WB is not letting Prince take a piss on the remasters by editing out songs like "Head" "Sister" "Darlin' Nikki" "Scarlett Pussy", etc. So the heel clicking and walking out was his showing WB how can move the dangling carrot, for the umpteenth thousandth time and not give the people that have supported him all these fucking years, what we really want? I havn't heard the snippet so I have no comment on that particular point. I notice you had no response to my earlier statement about post Rave material. So I guess that you are backing away from your earlier statement lol.

Your first two bullets reveal you have a limited appreiciation for prince in general. Nothing wrong with that but if you dicount all the love songs Prince has written and all songs sung in falsetto well you eliminated quite a bunch of music from the catolog.

Probably at least 50% of Prince fans are "niche" fans and are disappointed when he steps outside of the bounds of thier favorite genre or sound. Lucky for the rest of us that Prince isn't tied to any particular genre or sound.

Prince knows his core followers are a sophisticated and fickle bunch. He's talked about it before (with Tavis IIRC). A lot of us expect the unexpected. He must know that anytime he drops something conventional like this, a certain amount of people won't like it.

From what I've heard, it's reminiscent of "GO", but with 808's. I would really like to hear the full song before I give my ultimate opinion. I'm actually more interested in how it will be mixed, to be honest. We all know the snippets sound quality was dumbed down, right??

Is this track co-produced with Josh? I highly doubt he's been involved in everything. at the end of the day though Prince will do what he wants regardless of what anyone he is working with says. Probabaly why Josh is around, him being young (22 i think) he wont want to dirty the water telling Prince he is wrong of his ideas aint great too often. We all know how easily he can and will cut people off.

Right. I think Prince is using Josh though like he did Tony M, as a way of appeasing the labels because he clearly isn't able to produce hit material anymore for himself. So I suspect he lets Josh tweak what is essentially an all Prince idea, but present it to the label as though he's actually taking the idea of working with a producer seriously. My point is Josh is unable to help Prince, and Prince still needs an outside producer to feed him modern ideas and guide him away from some of his lesser habits.
