I can sense from this review that the new record is probably more cohesive like the good old days, but.. still is compromised by Prince's ability to choose what he does, now. Remember what Dave Chappelle said about money giving people choices? That's why Prince makes so many shitty records. He is secure enough to dull us to tears. Welton is doing exactly the horrible prefabricated radio-friendly music that I despise. I assume that he was trying to qualify for labels and show them he had it in him to do this kind of stuff with this song but I'm not sure I want him anywhere around 's music. I'm not too fond of his work on FallInLove2Nite and I wasn't very much convinced by the remixes he made that were aired on 3rdEyeTV either.

I guess saw in him exactly what many people have been wishing him 2 do here 4 a long time: find a younger producer that can make him sound "young" and radio-friendly again. The difference between Welton and Pharrell or André 3000 being that Welton isn't famous so he sure won't step on 's toes.

I just wish PlectrumElectrum is released one day, I'm so tired of teasing us with projects that never c the light of day I guess that's the difference between the internet and b4 the internet: toyed with and gave up just as many concepts in the 80's and early 90's but we never knew about it. Ever since he's had a website he announces album ideas the minute he has them. Nothing has changed, just that now we know about the shelved projects and get frustrated

I wish Josh was producing at that level. He is not. The radio has not been this ready for real Prince music since the late 80's early 90's. Remember when Jane Child dropped a hit, using essentially the classic PR era sound, while Prince couldn't score a Top 10 hit to save his life? It's just like that now. A lot of acts are melding classic Prince with a dub step drop and a trance-style chorus. It is shameful, imo, that Prince and Josh can't get it right. Even Country acts have mastered the formula. Prince is an influence on damn near every, non-rap pop chart hit out there. Yet when you hear what he and Josh have come up with, it's very no bueno. The Sweeter She Is demo is pretty good, but that's probably not anything for pop radio.

True, but it doesn't have to be that way. In fact that standard is too low for a major label to be bothered with. For better or worse, Prince is in the big leagues and the only way we are getting all the vault material is for Prince to start having major pop hits again.

There is also a small possibility that Prince is locked away and that the Weltons are emulating his voice through a computer while typing lines. This must be it, else I can not imagine Prince being so sour and unreal.
