At least he refers to it as a "cohesive statement". We'll see if that turns out to be the case, but that imples he's actually put more effort into the collection of songs than with most of the more recent releases.

He's also referring himself again as an album artist, which is quite a change from his comments from last year.

The Rita Ora track they played might not be from his album. It might be something they did for her album.

I'll comment on the modding this time around:

This thread was apparently created first and the one ufoclub created was locked, but the title of this thread ("The Gold Standard", "This Could Be Us") does not specifically refer to the interview that was about the new album. If you're going to be locking threads, please make sure that the title of the thread you'll keep is indicative of the actualy content or at least change the title yourselves. Just having the titles of two unknown songs doesn't cut it.

Is a bit of a weird thing to use for the Title of the thread to be fair

I'm glad he's playing people a new album but until someone hands him a pile of cash I feel we'll never hear it ourselves. Don't forget he offered to play his 'new' album to the guys from Peach & Black a few years back, nothing ever came from that. It seems he's always got a new album...

This seems more of a move to try and grab someone at WB's attention, It makes them out to look bad which is obviously his intention to try and force a release sooner rather than later.

Wouldnt surprise me, he needs to realise though as much as he might want it out as soon as and not be bothered if its a hit record or not, the people who are funding it do care, and there is other younger more sucessful Artists (I mean at the moment who will sell more) ahead of him.

.

It has to be carefully planned for a time when profits will be a maximum for it to be worth while for Warner and I think he still has some more touring/promotion to do before that, mainly in the states

LOL at all this. If Prince is still the same old fussy tyrant, his fans are still the same old fussy bunch, getting pre-frustrated and pre-disappointed. Sounds like the control freak attracts control freaks.

We'll just have to wait, won't we?

If prince wants to do an interview about a "new" album then we may as well talk about it. I'm sure we're all happy to discuss any music he actually does release as well.

What stood out for me is that Bream was not exactly raving about the album. He was generally positive but far from saying that the new album is great. Not a good sign.

Prince was with WB for damn near 20 years the first time around, a time when they WERE available at a moment's notice for him. I almost picture a purple version of the "batphone". Prince was WBs darling hitmaker and his eccentricities were tolerated because he kept delivering the goods.

.

A lot has changed since Prince left WB. The game has changed quite a bit, and I'm sure there's no one at WB who was there when Prince was on their roster.

.

Also, don't think that Prince was forgotten at WB. I am sure someone at WB had the assignment of "watching" the Prince world to see what was happening in it.

Exactly it, at the time he was probabaly one of their biggest money makers, He wont be anywhere near that now. He's not getting anything released until some proper promotion is done to get himself out there, its one thing doing European gigs, but the US is a bigger market to crack I'm sure they wouldnt want anything done that's not going to sell on the back of no promotion over there.

.

As far as I can see, Warner hold all the cards, he might want his masters back but he's got to do things to get that done too they wont have just been handed back to him when he signed, and he's probabaly now realising they wont play along to his tune like he may have gotten away with at his Peak popularity.

If it falls through then P will release his most recent project. (not PE)

But let's first find some reliable sources...

Sweet jebus, what a whine fest. The usual same ole, same ole, and of course not a single cruitical remark from the reporter.

He didn’t mention the album’s title or release date, but he did discuss the difficulties of getting a hold of top executives at Warner Music Group, with which he signed a new deal this spring. Then he whined about how slowly wheels turn in the record business. “Every No. 1 song, every Top 10 song, every song in the Top 40 is at least six months old,” he said. “We should be able to make music and put it out now.”

... says man who still hasn't managed to release the album he recorded with 3EG at least six months ago.

Sounds kinda promising.Especially the Rita Ora thing, not because i'm a fan but because she's from "nowadays" which could mean Prince finally opens up to contemporary influences.

Yes, let's rejoice that Prince fancies some shite pop star.

Also good to hear Josh might be co-producing, not because i know anything about him but just because for the very fact that Prince has opened up to the idea of someone from the outside having a say production wise.

*cough* Kirky J *cough* Levi Seacer Jr *cough*

Josh ain't an outsider, he's the HUSBAND of one of his 3EG chicks. He's just another paid "friend"/flunky and his work so far has at best been mediocre.

So far? Has he done any other tracks other than Fallinluv2night with Prince?

.

If not you cant really base an opinion on a track which was aimed at a certain audience who would watch New Girl (Teens upwards)

.

See a fair bit of negativity aimed at Joshua and I dont really see any reasons why? He's a young lad (Only 22 I think), seems nice and enthusiastic. Prince must see something in him to have him around, let alone let him anywhere near his productions. Yeah he might not be the best producer around for P to work with but i'd imagine he is probably there in more of an "Apprentice" type capacity and to bounce new ideas off.

And you know the first thing that struck me about this story...not, wow there may finally be new music on the way but how much of an absolute dick Prince really is!! Why should somebody from WB be available in the dead of night...he recorded the music didn't he, it'll still be there in the morning. Also he didn't have the decency to show his face for the guy that DID come. Why wod somebody be on standby to listen to an album that may or may not get released? NEWSFLASH - WB have done just fine without him whereas his career has somewhat slumped without thier guidance. The music world has moved on since his last hit in the 90's hence he's doing Madonna and matching on to the new life (LaHavas,Mvula,Ora)- if he doesn't like it maybe he shouldn't have backtracked. You can't have it both ways...is he a significant artist in today's music world - NO, he's a walking talking greatest hits back catalogue which the wider world think has retired or died a few years back -Just concentrate on releasing the old music from when people gave a shit and don't worry that people don't take your calls

where does it say that he wanted them in the dead of night..And if you think WB has done well , you are delusional

I really think Prince missed an opportunity here to indeed release his stuff quickly so I don't see the validity in many of his sour complaints.
