I'm curious... so Joshua is now Prince's "right hand man" (didn't that used to be Kirky J?--at least he still run's the MEGA Paisley Park Complex estate, so that's something)--and Hannah is now just Joshua's "beautiful wife" (seems like her presence is justified by actually being a member of 3rd Eye Girl, not that she's married to someone who's only there because of her, ultimately--even if Prince and Joshua have discovered they're fantastically well-matched as collaborators, he got in the door as the drummer's guy, not on his own). I guess that's better than Donna, who's identified as a "Lisa lookalike." What's that all about? I assume the Lisa is Coleman--I don't see the resemblance, particularly--but it still seems strangely disrespectful. Ida is considered important enough that we're assumed to know who she is (I guess that's why everybody else gets descriptions and she doesn't).

I think Funk 'n Roll was okay and works good live. But if that is the standard for the album, I get worried.


And I think Josh isn't good enough of a producer to work with Prince. I think Prince deserves a higher standard.


But, I'll wait patiently. I'll buy the album anyhow.

I have bad feelings all around about his current projects.

Nothing that I've heard from 3EG exites me. I can barely remember the tunes after a few spins. And the leaked solo tracks did nothing for me either.

It's hard to believe this is Prince anymore. It used to be the material was so good, the hype machine came from the public tripping out on his new releases. Now, we get leaks here and there with promotional appearances and 'singles' slipped to radiostations, and nobody cares. Very hard to believe this is still Prince.

And more than 60 days past the "listening party" or whatever this was...and still no new album. He's got about 115 or so days to get one out this year.

The hardcore fans are getting really antsy now, the wait is killing us! I still have good hopes that a new album will be released this year or early 2015, hot on the heels of the PR remaster. One thing, the longer the wait is the more chance we have that the album will be good.
