How about both? Projects that were shelved completely like Rave 88 would be great to have as separate entities, but I'd also love outtakes from released albums to be included with album remasters. In some cases, the outtakes may take up an entire disc themselves!

Says the fact that it exists, period. Now it doesn't prevent the original CB to be released as it was, actually I think it would be a wonderful addition to a deluxe SOTT box-set, or at least offered as a digital release at the same time SOTT gets remastered. It was, after all, P's magnum opus.

Agreed!

The wooh is on the one!

My vote goes to the "thematic" albums idea. I'm an albums dude anyway....I barely ever listen to "collections" even though I just released one of my own. LOL.
But my main wish is to see "Dream Factory" released...but without the songs that would be released on "Sign O The Times". If there's unfinished tracks available, he can just get members of The Revolution & finish 'em up. Replace the SOTT tracks on "Dream Factory" with those. That way, both requests would be fulfilled. The original tracks in pristine quality & a chance for the Revolution to work in the studio together again to finish what they started. Just my opinion...
Exiles of the Nation
"Liquidation", the NEW 18th LP. Available everywhere now.

But then it wouldn't be Dream Factory as it was supposedly intended! It would become a collection of Dream Factory era songs instead!!!

So this raises another (likely total wishlist fan fantasy) possibility...

Would people want/buy albums that were intended for release, for some reason were not released, but some or most of the songs eventually came out on other albums? That category includes:

Dream Factory
Camille
Crystal Ball
Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (89)
The Dawn (that ended up splitting across Come, TGE, Exodus, C&D)
High

Don't recall any others but there may well be!

I think the fanbase would for sure...but there very well could be enough unreleased tracks to make a cohesive album out of some of those you listed...That would only cement Prince further as the prolific artist he is.

For example, I made this rough draft of a tracklist I'd like to see for an officially released "Dream Factory".

1. VISIONS
2. NEVEAH NI ECALP A
3. DREAM FACTORY
4. TRAIN
5. ITS A WONDERFUL DAY
6. SPLASH
7. TEACHER TEACHER
8. CRUCIAL (Eric Leeds Version)
9. IN A LARGE ROOM WITH NO LIGHT
10. CRYSTAL BALL
11. BIG TALL WALL
12. LAST HEART
13. REBIRTH OF THE FLESH
14. WITNESS 4 THE PROSECUTION (Funk/Rock Version)
15. MOVIE STAR
16. ALL MY DREAMS
17. A PLACE IN HEAVEN
18. POWER FANTASTIC

I would've included "Wonderful Ass" instead of "Power Fantastic" since it was on "The B-Sides"..but you know, Prince probably wouldn't release that now.

We'll see what happens though. Its going to be very interesting to watch what actually goes down.

I believe people outside of the regular fanbase would buy this IMO.

Several songs on ur list have already been released on Crystal Ball. If released it would have to be either the last known configuration with all the SOTT and other released tracks OR a compilation of DF outtakes/rekated songs that have never been released. Alternate mixes of previously released tracks could be tolerated, though. + besides the released tracks, ur collection is made only of already circulating songs, I think any outtakes album should have to inlcude songs that never leaked, it'd add a lot to their value. Songs that have leaked do not form the majority of P's outtakes that r known to exist.

How about this...

Simply release the official albums and include a second disc of the commercially released b-sides and extended versions. Then he could emulate the Dagger Records model the Hendrix estate uses by resurrecting the Paisley Park label for demos, experiments, vault tracks and live shows that may not be of interest to the mainstream Prince fan.

If that's cost prohibitive, then make Paisley Park a digital download subscription site for all that fringe material we've been clamouring for...

Sounds good but y resurrect a label when he already got one (NPG)?

That's a totally valid point -- I guess all this nostalgia got me longing for the old Paisley days... smile
