besides, i might be the only one here, but i wouldn't even blink an eye

if he took a song like "sister" off dirty mind and replaced it with another

song from the album sessions.

/

there's only about 3 or 4 really totally unforgiveable songs in his whole

catalogue i think so if we don't get those or they are heavily edited it

won't take away my enjoyment of the rest of the album being in good

soundquality at last, with the prospect of all kinds of bonus material.

i don't know. we never knew what the exact deals were, did we?

kobalt distributed liv's album and a few singles (did they also do

andy's album, i can't remember).

and epic just released that one off single i guess. who knows it

is possible 3EG will be released on another label and he's got a

new 'new' album for warners, although that seems a bit too much

material.

It would make sense, for something one time or limited.. a 30th year anniversary will only happen once and none of them are getting any younger..

Change it one more time..

Sounds fantastic - but will he keep the lyrics the same - surely darling Nikki doesn't fit with JW and certainly many of the vault tracks I'd love won't? I would cream myself if there was a limited rerelease of the film at cinemas - would love to see it on the big screen!

Hope that plectrumelectrum drops soon then and isn't forgotten - or could that be the album the press releases are referring to? Too many questions and possibilities! And let's have some nice vinyl and sleeves not pissy little CD cases with inlays.

First up: a 30th anniversary deluxe reissue of "Purple Rain" including "unreleased, unheard material."

This is from a joint press release out this morning.

PRINCE AND WARNER BROS. RECORDS UNVEIL NEW PARTNERSHIP

April 18, 2014 - Prince and Warner Bros. Records today announced a new agreement that will see the release of long-awaited, previously unheard material, while giving the artist ownership of the master recordings of his classic, global hits. At the same time, the deal extends Prince's relationship with Warner Bros. Records, through an exclusive global licensing partnership that covers every album released from 1978 into the nineties. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

For Prince fans worldwide, the new partnership will open a veritable gold mine. The surprise announcement comes just in time for this summer's 30th Anniversary celebrations of the artist's breakthrough album and film, Purple Rain, which were released in 1984. For the first time, Prince will be releasing a digitally re-mastered, deluxe version of this classic album. Other planned projects will follow.

Prince said, "A brand-new studio album is on the way and both Warner Bros Records and Eye are quite pleased with the results of the negotiations and look forward to a fruitful working relationship."

"Everyone at Warner Bros Records is delighted to be working with Prince once again: he is one of the world's biggest stars and a truly unique talent" said Cameron Strang, Chairman & CEO, Warner Bros. Records. "We are also very excited about the release of new and re-mastered music from one of his greatest masterpieces."

Great move by both parties in realiziing that you have a seminal able reaching a milestone and neither party could properly celebrate its success without a partnership...

In other news, Israel and Palestine have just worked out a peace agreement, North Korea and South Korea have agreed on a framework for unification, and the ghosts of Biggie and Tupac have agreed to collaborate on a new posthumous album.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

I really, really, really hope he doesn't remove any tracks or change the lyrics. Maybe an edited version for fans that want that sort of thing but he seriously needs to leave them alone.

I'd love a real, careful, detailed and complete overview of the SOTT era in particular.

It will require multiple discs to cover that period.

I wonder how much direct involvement Prince himself will have, or if he'll hire a team to comb thru the vault and put together potential packages for each album that he can either approve or veto or change.

After all these years of hoping for this, it's a little surreal to think that it might happen. Kate Bush announcing live dates and Prince making up with WB and announcing a reissue campaign within weeks of each other?

Can this be real or are we all on some cosmic version of musical Punk'd?

Well, it rather stopped, since I wasn't able to edit my post.

After fighting WB for 20 years this seems like his giving in. At least he got his masters back. That's something. We will probably get better sounding veersions of song we've all had for ages. That's something too. Hope he isn't planning on reuniting the Revolution.
