agreed...it was a nice remake, but a terrible lead off single.

the problem is...

"Emancipation", the 3cD did not have 1 good lead single included.......

I can't think of any of the songs as great single choices.

Face Down? My Computer? The Holy River? The Love We Make?

I would say all these would not make strong singles.

To me the 8 minutes version is incredible, easily this song is the best track on the Rave album, (imho)...

I think "Sleep Around" would have been a perfect first single.It's extremely catchy and danceable.

Normally,I don't like the idea of a ballad as the first single from a Prince album,but I think "I Hate U" was a perfect first single.It's one of Prince's most soulful singles.

Better choices, imo: Somebody's Somebody -- could've been a moderate hit with a good video

Ummm, Somebody's Somebody was a single if my memory serves? Prince sitting in the back of a limo eating a takeaway in the video...did I dream that or was it a b-side. There's definitely a semi-live recording of it called the Live Fantasy Mix or similar, love that version.

The wierd thing is that Hannah announced that Pretzelbodylogic is the 1st single from PE, still both songs will be on it Anyway, they are very weak single choises.

I agree, that was played non stop, that was the song that got me interested in the Gold experience and in Prince again. Hardly a worst 1st single choice

IIWYG was a second single.

As for betcha by golly wow, seemed like the best choice for a lead single since most of the album is in the R&B flavor. An R&B/pop song was needed for radio to push the album to a larger audience. I think this album was a hard sell to non Prince fans, not to mention the more expensive price tag on the CD set. As I have said many times before this album suffers from producing choices. (I like this album.)

As for TGRES was a low key 1st single, but being that the producing of this album irritates me far more than Emacipations, I really can't see where there could be any other single except so far so pleased with Stefani (but that was denied.). This album gets less play than any other Prince album.

(a good example of bad production choices is the song I Love U, but I don't trust U Anymore. A song I liked from the first listen, but couldn't stand the producing. I was pleased that during the 2009 Montreux show he performed the song the way it should have been on the CD.

"I Hate U" was a perfect first single.It did reasonably well,but it might have done better if Prince had delivered the video He was feuding with Warners and refused to hand over the video.
