I hate to admit it but I agree ... talking about "the right timing" ... there has been a momentum more times that would have fit perfectly for a release ... now it feeld like an unending foreplay without the actual act, let alone an orgasm ... and yes, that removes all excitement and is truly tiresome.

If the album is good all will be forgotten, but if it's average there's going to be massive backlash... It is so frustrating to be always like this with prince...

If they are to have a 33' release that means the album edition running time won't be beyond 40 minutes. The ideal length for a 33 1/3 LP side is about 17 minutes anything more & the sound quality would go down. I'd expect to see a Vinyl version with 8-10 trax & maybe a cd/digital version with bonus trax. Bring it on P!

[Edited 3/18/14 11:10am]

Not true! I have plenty of LPs that last longer than that and sound excellent.

I'm sure they do - but they'd probably sound better if the were in the 17 - 20 (max) minutes per side...

Good discussion around the issues here:

She probably knows as much as us as to whether it will get released
.
You'd have thought with all publicity he had a few weeks ago with New Girl, UK Hit & Run, Mojo interview and Arsenio that was the time. Unless he plans to do it in the summer when he does Essence and rumours of Hyde Park....or maybe he's bored with it already

So he shelves these songs.

Takes a 'break'.

After a few days he starts recording new stuff.

Etc.

I doubt the album will be shelved. There's been too much talk. It'll get a release of some sort that only we'll care about. As a follower for quite a few years I do see a pattern, though. I suspect he's moved on, already on to the next project. Do we care, though, really? We'll move with him...anxiously awaiting drip feed info about what's next. Prince knows this. It's been the template throughout the post-Warner years.

Be patient it will come out. There has been too much stuff going on from the Prince camp this year (New Girl appearance, Arsenio Hall, the UK gigs, Brit awards, etc.) for there not to be an album. It's just a matter of when.

Hahaha, this is exactly how I feel.

Dr. F.'s commentary at the beginning of 2013 - "It's gonna be BIG" - combined with Prince's "We've got bootlegs for days" tempted me to follow the whole thing again ...

Though I really dig the 3EG stuff a lot, it feels like I am fooled into something ...

Yeah seriously BIG time ...

I find it hard to believe the delay is due to just some TV appearances and a few smaller shows taking all of his time. The guy's a professional musician with a whole lot of other people working for him and taking care of technicalities.

Not that I don't feel he deserves to take it easier by this point if he wants to.

I think he wanted to generate some publicity for his new band and project with all the tv appearances and the live performances...

Which he achieved...

Then with the minor success of Fallinlove2nite it would make sense to wait a little bit and then release the album the next weeks in april/ may with a new 3rdeyegirl single...

The timing is not so unimportant for Prince as he probably wants a good chart position, so he can`t release the album in a week with too much competition from another major artist...

at least that is what i would do if i want to have a number one album... wink

the rate it's going now, probably june. however, i'd be just as happy if he'd just ditch

this album, pick the 4 or 5 very best tunes off it and put them on another album with

some more of his solo and npg stuff. just the best of all he recorded the last 2 or 3

years. one very strong album with 12 or 13 incredible tracks.

at this point, who cares about half of Plectrum Electrum anymore? the songs we've

heard so far "Plectrum Electrum", "FixUrLifeUp", "PretzelbodyLogig" are very 'meh',

and about a year old by now. forget about prince, I'M bored with it and it hasn't been

released yet lol

and I don't think it will be released at all, I don't think Prince feels comfortable with the album yet, so he just can't make up his mind if its worth releasing it or not. So therefore he should move on 2 the next project, release something similar to Lotusflow3r with a collection of the best songs from 2010-14

I kind of agree with you on those 3 but I'd like to have good quality versions of FUNKNROLL and Wow, which sounded really good on the PA system in Manchester (if that version is on the album as the guy from Mojo seemed to think Wow was an instrumental version of The Unexpected). Also, The Breakdown may even be on it

Wow is Prince's vocal version of The Unexpected, the instrumental is Plectrumelectrum, the reporter got confused as he wasn't allowed to take notes
