I think those who think this song is homophobic has really misunderstood the lyrics. What's so homophobic about a man being upset because his woman left him for another woman? If he sings about a woman leaving him for another man, would that make him heterophobic?

Well, yes--but I thought everyone knew he was heterophobic.

Actually, only if he sang about a man leaving him for a woman, then it would be heterophobic.

Anybody who bought this random garbage doesn't deserve money. Why am I surprised that Prince released ANOTHER pointless half azz, shout talk, awful JB wannabe track? And some of ou say that you actually spent cash on it? HAHAHA. What suckers!!!! This isn't a final version of anything. 2010 was the album that changed everything for Prince. That's the moment where a lightbulb went off in his head, and he said, "You know, what? I'm tired of hearing how much they want the outtakes. From now on I ain't finishing a damn thing. I'm going to start charging these azzholes for demos". And that's all we've heard from him since. I can't even remember the last time I heard a completed track from him. This shit is still a demo. And an awful one at that.

Suckers. Lol. It was 88¢ bro. In the world where I come from, it cost much more than 88¢ to be a sucker. 88¢ bro. That's all. Its MUCH less than a THOUSANDTH of a less than typical salary. If its enuff to make u run around claiming fraud, bamboozled, claiming people r being suckered... Maybe your finances r more in question than the quality of the song is???? wink lol

Okay people who think that piece of shit song is homophobic are the same people who in their own minds believe they are heroes for their "tolerant" and super enlightened views. But really what happens when you start labeling everything as homophobic than nothing is homophobic because the words loses all meaning.

I certainly don't think everything is homophobic. "Uptown," for example, is as far from it as you could get. And for the record, I can't name one other Prince song that I find to be homophobic...even Bambi. Now when he played that in front of Ellen on her show however, that was a bit homophobic. I kissed my boyfriend in the front row in front of Prince during a ONA show, and let me tell you, the look on his face was not one of tolerance.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

It's not a negative opinion as in a belief that may be subject to ones' moods, tastes and preferences. It's the truth. There are certain subjective properties that define what a SONG is. Certainly there are standards that define what a professional song is. I imagine Kobalt must have already paid Prince, so now he thinks there is nothing left to do, but take that deal down to Lake Minnetonka and phukk 'em! NPGMusicClub style!

There is nothing in that track. NOT-A-THING. I intentionally say track, not song because there isn't a melody to speak of. Was Prince high when he made that TRACK? Seriously what kind of meds is he on? I think one would have to be HIIIIIIGGGGHHH on something to randomly babble in the mic like that. Shockingly, you can read every post in this thread and have NO IDEA that this shit is unfinished gobblleygook! Anybody with studio access could have come away with something that incomplete, but only Prince has the wherewithal to RELEASE IT! And fans dumb enough to pay for it and then go online and swear they love it. You guys are the definition of azz-kissing fans, because you know it's awful, but you don't have the BALLS to admit it. You guys don't want to say anything, for fear Prince may not pick you for his next bullshit fan releases. So fine, I'll be the bad guy: Da Bourgeoisie is REALLY bad. Prince fans should be embarrassed.

Oh. I get it now. I thought you were giving your opinion. Thanks for clearing up that what you are saying is factual. jerkoff

A tomato is different than tomato soup. Tomato soup is different than ketchup. Ketchup is different than barbeque sauce. There is a process to EVERYTHING, including music. Prince has always struggled to complete his music to a professional standard. ALWAYS. It's one of the reasons he and WB had so many issues and a big part of why the quality of talent in his inner circle is so critical. If you guys keep droooooling over clearly half-azzed work, that's all he ever will deliver. It is enough for him, imo, to stroll onto the internet read rave reviews and feel satisfied that he's hit a home run when in fact he struck out completely. After the shit flops, he'll blame his label and the industry, the universe, question hid relationship with the almighty... on and on. Because he tested it with his fans and they say they fukkin' LOVE the new song. So I ride for the truth as much as I can. This jerk is the good guy here. But Da Bourgeoisie is obviously a really bad set of ideas that can't be salvaged and Prince should delete it and forget about it completely. Seriously... is he on pain meds? WTF?

Oh great... now you are suggesting he needs to charge MORE for his garbage tracks if he wants to feel like he's getting over. That's all this charging for whack azz demos is about for him: ego! And hell no, I didn't buy it. What would I do with it? The next time he's mentoring an artist, he can tell them what a genius he is for charging money for works in progress! Prince fans are on his dick so hard, they say they prefer UNFINISHED, half baked, meandering nonsense to a skillfully produced, professionally engineered, well written song. At this point Prince could just retire from music and just start taking his daily shit in Ziploc bags and selling then to FAMS for $20 bucks a bag . You phukkers would buy it, taste it, and love it!!! Seriously how starstruck are you people? Can't you tell anymore when Prince is releasing bad tracks just to see how false your appreciation truly is?

er

I've really been getting in2 this track these past couple of days & I now think it's seriously brilliant!! Prince makes me laugh sometimes, cuz there's him scolding some1 for being or thinking 'dirty' when that deep, pulsating, funkin groove is the real dirty thing here!! lol That funk is so dirty it's making me feel all kinds of hot & bothered when I was dancin 2 it!! razz Love the almost tongue-in-cheek humour that seems come across in Prince's voice 2. Ha ha that little side part "That's French" made me laugh & think of Under The Cherry Moon! And then those NPG horns... ahhhhh, just music 2 my ears that always sound sooo sultry. Pure class!

This has absolutely nothing to do with "remixing". The original tracks and mix are exactly the same; he just added some horn overdubs.

Not sure what to think of the artwork with the chameleon...

*edit* I see 3EG posted their definition on FB regarding the artwork (and woman in the song):

What's with the mispronunciations of bouquet and cabaret?

Forgiveable when he was young, but now? Even Bourgeoisie, sounds like he thinks there's no "r" - it's the name of the song!

Otherwise, quite cool - not crazy 'bout the homophobic overtones, but could be seen as just in fun...

I've seen and read the postings on this song but only heard it just now and don't really understand the fuss. It's not a disaster but just doesn't go anywhere amazing. So I also don't undrstand people being so over the moon about this song either, hailing it as the new masterpiece. Come on, most of you must have heard enough good music to be able to value this for what it is; a nice tidbit with not much ambition or focus... just a pleasant sounding thingie. Let's keep it real.

i've been so busy lovin on the world, where to find time to understand this song? i think the characters in the song are symbolic, like a proverb. "the man" is christ, 'the bearded lady' is either the bourgeoisie in general or the bourgeoisie part of the church -- shes supposed to be the bride of christ but she has enough mammon to be tempted to think she is god, and she really only seeks god when its rainin in her life. her slippery hypocritical lips say religious things but her heart is in the world. and the 'other girl' is the dirty world, which the bearded lady (a santa beard?) gets wrapped up with like a present under a christmas tree. i like the timing of the realease before the questionably-holy days of stress and stuff. is it wrapped around her waist, or waste? what is the dozen razor blades about? reminds me of shavin a beard. well my hearts convicted, gotta go fix my life up! thinking about this song has improved my life, whatever it really means.
