Just bought it and got the email link right away. Interestingly, it says: "This email is to confirm your recent order. You will receive a separate email with a download link momentarily. Please note that this email will be sent to the email address associated with the PayPal account used to purchase the song and/or video. The download link will not be sent to the email address used to create an account with 3RDEYE Tunes, if different than the email associated with your PayPal account."

I wonder if that is why some people never received the links before?

Also, I really really like this song and rendition...however, is it just me or does this sound more like an audience recording than a soundboard(albeit a very good audience recording) ? There are parts where the screaming and clapping in the audience is much louder than his guitar or vocals, which is a real shame. Oh well, it was two bucks well spent. Now I just gotta figure out how to convert it to an audio file without losing any sound quality.

So we're now paying for a shaky hand-held, shitty audio live excerpts with annoying mirror effects for songs that already have multiple official live versions available...

Is this is what it has come to?? lol

I shouldn't complain too much. It's not that bad. But still... Where has the effort gone in his releases?

I second that, Toejam. biggrin

And what is more, what is the point of this video release? I mean, he can obviously do whatever he wants with whoever he wants, and we got lots of great songs this year, but this haphazard release "strategy" of music is weird. Is that why 2013 is big? As in big question mark?

eXactLy! confused

We got a teaser for "Big City" and no release of the full song, we got a teaser for the BCW remixes of "The Breakfast Experience" and still no release...only the tease sad

And what do they offer for sale...a new version of the "I Like It There" video which we saw for free via their YT channel! nuts

The most hilarious part of this is that 3EG advertised it on Twitter as the FULL DVD VERSION of "Eye Like It There". lol

Yeah right...I thought they learned their lesson with the "superb quality" of the Aladdin dvd...NOT! rolleyes

Yet another sign that they are clueless about what they are doing with all these random files this year. There's no strategy here...it doesn't make sense at all neutral

Remember when the NPGMC sold crappy black & white VHS copies of a tv special that was taped from Japanese TV?

Remember when the NPGMC posted a CASSETTE rip of "Horny Pony", a track that had been released on CD a decade earlier?

Remember how famz were defending both of these events?

Yes, I remember both of those really sad events. How Prince or anyone at the NPGMC thought it would be okay to charge full retail price for bootleg VHS copies with black & white sticker labels and Japanese subtitles (from the Pay Per View they were originally recorded from) of The Beautiful Experience and whatever the other one was, I will never know. To their (ahem) "credit," I did manage to get a full refund since I had purchased both of those tapes and nowhere did it indicate that they were not original copies. I had bootleg copies in my possession that were of vastly superior quality.

And yes, the version of "Horny Pony" that was posted as a paid track for one of the months during NPGMC Year One was in fact ripped from cassette. Which was so bizarre, since as Bart indicated, most of us already had it on CD to begin with.

Regarding this video, I was not surprised with the audio quality since all of the video snippets that 3EG posts on youtube are the same kind of audience-taped audio. However, now that I hear that 3EG tweeted about it being "DVD quality" (which Dr.F has parroted), that does irk me because there is nothing "DVD quality" about that. Artists don't release DVDs of live performances that aren't soundboard, period. Shit, even Aladdin had good SOUND. wink

i took that "full dvd version" comment to be another hint that this

is part of a "coming soon" DVD lol

but we've heard and read about coming DVDs so much now that

it doesn't even register with me anymore.

at this point i just take what's there and don't even get excited by

those kind of comments anymore. it seems my subconscious has

finally adapted to prince's 'marketing' methods.

yeahthat Another hint that leads to nowhere and nothing, the same as with the Montreux DVD tease which didn't get beyond the "almost preview" in NYC. For those who are still interested...this is the 3EG tweet which they deleted:

Ok...Who Wants 2 direct The followers 2 the FULL DVD VERSION of "Eye Like It There"?

OK so just payed for and downloaded it.

I love it and I'm loving these ad hoc scattered releases, I would rather this than waiting years for an album with nothing and being disapointed it's nto sign o the times or parade or lovesexy... or purpl.... you get the idea. I've worked it out and including the 3rdeyegirl TV, Sound clouds, 3RDEYETunes youtubes and tweets we've had almost 8 discs worth of audio and that's not counting the video clips

However just two things that would improve this clip. Mirror effect not neccesary and just mix in the sound board at around 75% of the mix.... A full sound board might make this kind of up front hand held footage sound a bit empty and without audience but a nice 75% mix would give the sound detail some people are missing while maintaining the ambience of the performance

If you want Prince send the files my way and I'll do a mix for you biggrin

Seriously I would have been happy with the whole gig for $10 (no visual fx and a 75% audience soundboard mix) even if it was from this one cammera angle

Either way I think it's a great little clip

It's true we've got a lot of raw material--but what really annoys me is how much of it's incomplete--a minute and a half out of a song drives me up the wall. What am I really supposed to do with that? Even when I like the performances, they wind up more frustrating than truly enjoyable.

Well it's true most of it has given me the audio equivelent of blue balls. But that said Prince was always about the foreplay smile

Seriously though I think there's been alot of teasers about how this night at Paisley is gonna be a full release (DR Funkenberry's post about it being filmed, Tweets about DVD quaility) I probably think the intention at the moment is to give out a bit of the raw materials and edit a full show for release.... Notice I said INTENTION as you know Prince has project ADD and could be onto something else and drop a months work into the vault on a whim

That said these 3rdeye girl concerts are killer performances and deserve a full difinitive live document, And judging by the clips This Paisley Park show would do it justice if it was properly edited and mixed.... Fingers crossed he multi tracked and filmed multi cammera cause of all the critique of this clip none of it is about the bands performance

I think Prince fans have been spoiled this year with all the releases we've seen. A lot of it has been quality work and some of it has been demo stuff. And that is what bugs me.

It's this tendency to release things that are not mastered or even recorded in a studio but on a iphone or portable recorder. A song like "You Will Be" should be given a proper studio treatment. "Girl Thing" is an awesome song too but I NEVER listen to it. Great great song but it sounds awful.

Now we have these great live performances filmed from the front row (obvs by someone hired by someone at Paisley Park) and the sound is dreadful. Not too mention these rehearsals where all we see are shots of a laptop or a mixing desk. Really?

Maybe he's making a point about bootlegs but I would love to see a properly released new Prince project without the drama, confusion, mystery or the technology mess-ups.

I don't know why Prince puts such low emphasis sometimes on his released material.
