Kobalt isn't a label in the traditional sense. Search any of their other releases on iTunes (like Nick Cave's latest, for example) and you won't see them mentioned either.
As for the frustration of not having any clear info: Perhaps that's because there's nothin firm to announce yet? | |

I'll probably listen to anything he puts out til he expires because he's Prince. But that only means his music is at a considerably lower par than EVERYTHING else I hear. Even comparative rubbish like Planet Earth sounds like Purple Rain compared to how far he's slipped in the 6 years since. Lame ass shit actually sounds worse when you release six versions of it in only minor variations. And how about those dumbass racially offensive lyrics... how would that song go down if Springsteen sang it? Prince is gone and he ain't coming back, except for cabaret. Still, his light burned brighter and longer than anyone could have reasonably expected. If only a Warners exec had shot him in '96... |

He only gets crucified when he releases sub par shit like this, he's been playing new material all year, signed a deal, then he releases a non album single, then 2 months later releases a remix ep which is just ok, it's been 3 years since his last album, 4 years since an album was in the shops in the USA and 7 years since an album was in the shops in the UK. I'm pretty sure that if the performer name were Prince and the Revolution, and they had followed a similar release schedule over the last ten years (or the ten years immediately following Parade), particularly after announcing that the current year would be "big" and we'd gotten what we've gotten... yeah, I think that the people complaining would still be complaining.
What does "embracing his heritage" here mean, KCOOL--an afro and a reference to not leaving "a black man in this state"? The band is not particularly "black" right now--especially not in its 3rd Eye Girl form. I'm not quite sure what McD was going off on about the "racially offensive lyrics," but I also don't know what you mean either. | |
