Yeah, pretty sure it was in Nov. of 2011.

I recall having the realization that it happened 20 years after our first encounter with P.

What a ride!!

Thank you very much for your inside information, very appreciated, smile

I can't get what you mean in the bolded part, though, can you elaborate? Thanks!

Obvious....he is saying that they first worked with Prince back in 1991!

Nice to see you Mr.Moops....btw my criticism is with Prince reworking this track again not you guys...I love hornz and the hornheadz.

BTW: track 03.

We also have a track 07....

What are the other tracks?

I think below would be basis of a decent album:

Same Page Different Book

Breakfast Can Wait

Extraloveable Reload

RNR Remix 7

Screwdriver Remix

Down

Aint Gonna Miss U

2 Young 2 Dare

.

I dont really care much for That Girl Thang, Boyfriend or the 3rd Eye Girl songs 'FixUrLifeUp' and 'LOL'

I think Same Page, Boyfriend and Breakfast fit alongside Xtraloveable and Ain't Gonna Miss U. We'd get an album in the spirit of The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse which is just fine by me. R&R Remix is too much a remix to fit IMHO, it would sound weird, and the original is too pop/rock to get alongside the rest (unless we talking about a "multigenre" album à la Rave/Musicology). Screwdriver to me is definitely a 3rdEyeGirl song: I'm gonna make a fuss if it's not on Plectrum Electrum lol lol

I don't know Down & 2 Young, there are new songs played live I suppose?

As for That Girl Thang and U Will B With Me, they're kind of in their own lo-fi world. Someone here mentioned that they'd like a studio version of U Will Be. I'm all for it but I kinda dig the lo-fi sound of the one we have, it's very spontaneous cool

Now let's not forget that IF we are talking about a new album released track by track

3 possibilities, in the end:

1) We are a bunch of idiots, this is indeed just a CD burned by prince for Rashida or whoever and the lazy suckers who work for him have forgotten to adjust the file titles to the fact that they're to be released on a download store.

2) Prince is playing games with us, there is no proper album coming save Plectrum Electrum and he's just teasing us and having fun reading us speculate about an album that doesn't exist (or does but won't be released).

3) There is a plan for an album and we'll get it track by track à la C-Note, with a possible full release later. In that case we already have tracks 3 and 7 and NONE of the other songs mentioned above have been released with a track number, so they're unlikely to be on it if Prince plays the track by track game to the end but they MAY be on it if the whole thing surfaces as a whole at some point.

Whatever happens, the good news is that 3rdEyeGirl.com has been reactivated and that therefore we'll probably get some more in the weeks to come biggrin biggrin biggrin

After thinking about it some more, I'm guessing the track numbers don't mean anything. Given the technical issues with last week's Spreecast, I think the most likely explanation is that the track numbers go with a demo CD not intended for release, and someone forgot to take the numbers off before uploading them. But, we'll see.

Mmmh. I just read on princevault that Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone was first uploaded under the title Ain't Gonna Miss U and then suddenly withdrawn and replaced by a correctly titled file. So that ruins my theory number 1: someone IS paying attention and the track numbers were left there ON PURPUSE.

Now to WHAT purpose???

Then a formal release of PE in the Autumn. Jobs a bleedin good un and bob's your dad's lesbian nephew lol

PLUS: I've just checked and the track numbers aren't the file's actual track numbers. If you look on the files details there is NO track number. Thiese damn track numbers have been added to the title intentionally!!

right, it was Nov. of '91. I think we jammed in the sound stage on the 5 horn arrangements of the Madhouse stuff I did, then if I'm not mistaken we started working on Sexy MF, and immediately went into the studio and recorded. It was like a 12 hour day, with only one short break to move from the sound stage to the studio. It was quite a rush!! I still remember the head spinning buzz I had after that first day. (thanks, I didn't take any offense to your critique.)

Was it recent or did he record them back in 2011?

It's nice to have you guys back in the ride with Andy's album and now these new Prince tracks, I missed you dearly for that last decade. Honestly the Hornheadz are the perfect horn section for Prince's sound, just the way Eric is the perfect solo sax and Clare Fischer the perfect orchestra. These years with Maceo, Greg, Candy and all were cool but the Hornheadz will always be the perfect match biggrin

BTW - the "whole band of horns" is a different group of players. The Hornheads have been heavily involved in the recording over the past year and half, but unfortunately were unable to make the full commitment required to be in the live band.

Thanks!, coincidentally, some of my faves have us on them as well. HA!

I have to admit that personally, the whole experience is a very hard thing for me to wrap my head around. As a trombonist from a small town in Wisconsin, it was unimaginable that my life would have taken this path. It's been really amazing, difficult, mind blowing, crazy, etc... but when I step back and realize that I've worked closely with one of the greatest musicians that has ever lived, and that he appreciated what I brought to the party, it seems completely surreal. Hopefully some of the other cool stuff we did recently will be released as well, because if you think it's hard as a fan to not get all the music from him that you're craving, you should try actually playing on the stuff and know that it may not even come out, and out of respect, you don't really talk about it if and until it actually does.

It's always fascinating to hear these stories and get to know about what's going on behind the scenes...Fantastic job on the track, especially that mid section, just fab! Not to start a conspiracy theory or anything, but "3" and "7" are both numbers that show up in the titles of songs on the Love Symbol Album. Coincidence?

Wow thanks for sharing this! It's crazy, do you know that we actually do have this rehearsal, that it's been circulating for 20 years?

I'd always been wondering about this recording, like was there ever a plan for it to be played on stage, like an opening act for the D&P tour maybe, or what? Then someone once said here that it was just some kind of homework Prince gave you just to test the horn section before signing you in, that it wasn't to ever be used. It would be wonderful if you could finally reveal the truth behind the mysterious 91 Madhouse recordings biggrin biggrin biggrin
